The Town of Los Gatos is seeking an exceptional, highly skilled Executive Assistant to provide advanced administrative, project, and analytical support to the Town Manager and Town Council. This is a key position within the Town Manager’s Office, serving as a professional ambassador of the organization and ensuring smooth daily operations at the highest levels of Town leadership. Under the general direction of the Town Manager, plans, schedules, and directs the work of the Public Works Department, which includes providing supervision of street improvements, permits, traffic control, pavement markings, parks and public landscaping, storm drains, street sweeping, building maintenance, and general engineering functions; performs related work as required.

EXAMPLES  OF DUTIES

Prepares and presents public works related items and issues to the Town Council. Plans and supervises the capital improvement program, street maintenance program, storm drain and disaster related repairs and all aspects and equipment related thereto; periodically inspects streets and all public facilities for deficiencies and recommends corrective actions and priority of work; estimates labor, materials, and oversees initiation of projects including street openings, retaining walls, flood control and drainage facilities; manages the Town’s participation in the Marin County storm water pollution prevention program; manages the Town’s GIS program; prepares plans and specifications for bidding procedures; interacts with the Consulting Town Engineer and/or supervises engineering functions; provides complex and responsible administrative support to the Town Manager; prepares departmental budget and controls expenditures; personnel administration within the department; participates in code enforcement and in other activities, as required.

Under the general supervision of the Planning and Building Director, the Building Inspector I/II is responsible for inspecting construction projects to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, and applicable building codes and regulations. This role involves conducting all residential, resale and commercial inspections, investigating complaints, providing technical guidance to applicants, coordinating with external agencies, time limits of completion enforcement and assisting at the building counter. The position requires a high level of independence and discretion.

EXCITING OPPORTUNITY

The Town of San Anselmo is seeking applications for the full-time position of Senior Building Inspector in the Public Works and Building Department.  It is an exciting opportunity to work in a broad range of areas, to help shape the future of the Town.

The Department of Public Works maintains the Town’s infrastructure to support the community. With a staff of 15, the department is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the following public facilities: roads, parks, buildings, parking, equipment, and vehicle fleet. In addition, Town engineering, capital construction projects, and natural disaster response are also managed within the Public Works department.

THE POSITION

Typical duties of the Senior Building Inspector position include, but are not limited to:

• Make field inspections of buildings and public works permits to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, and applicable building, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical codes, statutes, and regulations of the Town, county, state and federal agencies.
• Review, approve and issue permits for construction work.
• Check plans and specifications for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with codes and ordinances.
• Investigate code violations and complaints.
• Conduct residential resale inspections, prepare and issue reports upon the sale of all residential property.
• Perform re-inspections and follow-up as necessary to gain compliance.
• Provide information and guidance to the public regarding codes, ordinances, and the permitting process.
• Provide technical information and interpretations regarding codes, ordinances and compliance methods to contractors, builders, designers, and the general public.
• Resolve difficult and complex code interpretation, enforcement, and inspection problems, issues, and conflicts.
• Prepare and maintain accurate records, reports, and files.
• Write clear and concise letters as needed.
• Provide staff assistance to the public at the department’s service counter as needed.

 Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge and Abilities):

• Knowledge of state and local building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, energy, accessibility, and fire codes and local building, fire and zoning ordinances.
• Principles and techniques of building construction, building materials and accepted safety standards; Principles and techniques of building inspection.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret building plans and specifications; understand, interpret and apply codes, ordinances, and regulations; communicate clearly and concisely in English, both orally and in writing.
• Use windows-based computer programs such as MS Word and Excel.
• Operate a car and pickup truck safely, back vehicle a long distance, and steer through narrow roadways and hillsides.

Experience and Training:

• Five years of progressively responsible experience in building inspection, including commercial inspection and/or plan check experience, of which two (2) years must be at full journey level.
• Three years of experience as a building inspector or related field involving inspection or code enforcement.
• Graduation from high school or equivalent to the completion of 12th grade – college training in the field of civil engineering, architecture, or building technology may be substituted for equivalent year of work experience. Associated of Arts degree preferred.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain within 3 months, a valid California driver’s license
• Possession of, or ability to obtain within 6 months, certification, through the International Code Council, as a California Residential Building Inspector- J1 and California Commercial Building Inspector- I1

Special Requirements/Physical Demands:

• On-site field inspections and office work require a moderate amount of physical agility. Intermittently walk, stand, twist, squat, kneel, climb, and bend both in the office and in the field.
• On a continuous basis, sit at a desk or stand at a counter to answer questions of the public.  Write by long hand and use a computer keyboard to communicate through written means.
• Frequently lift or carry a weight of up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
• The nature of the work requires the individual to climb 30’ to 40’ ladders or scaffolding to reach high areas such as roofs, balance on narrow walkways or steep-pitched roofs, crawl through narrow openings and in confined spaces.
• During inspections, the individual may be required to walk on uneven surfaces. Work will require exposure to intermittent uncomfortable working conditions such as dust, noise, and extreme cold or heat. Inspections are done out-of-doors year-round.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Operator II/III position plays a key role in the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the City’s wastewater treatment facilities. The successful candidate will be appointed at the Operator II or Operator III level based on qualifications and experience.

Under general direction, this position operates, monitors, and maintains the wastewater treatment plant, lift stations, trunk sewers, outfall, and related facilities. Responsibilities include adjusting treatment processes to meet NPDES permit requirements, utilizing SCADA systems to monitor and control plant operations, performing preventive maintenance on plant equipment, collecting and analyzing wastewater and sludge samples, and maintaining accurate operational records.

At the Operator III level, additional responsibilities may include advanced process optimization, technical leadership, administrative and reporting duties, CMMS oversight, contractor coordination, and providing support to or acting in the absence of the Chief Treatment Plant Operator. This position requires flexibility to work off-hour, weekend, holiday, and on-call shifts and to respond to emergency situations as needed.

The anticipated hiring range for the Senior Planner position is $108,390 - $135,488 with a full salary range up to $162,586. The City typically makes offers within the hiring range based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
 

Description

The City of Thousand Oaks is seeking a high-performing Senior Planner to lead complex development and long-range planning initiatives in one of Southern California’s most desirable communities. This position plays a key role in sharing residential, mixed-use, commercial, and downtown revitalization projects while advancing the City’s General Plan and environmental review efforts.   

We are seeking an innovative, collaborative individual to conduct a variety of planning duties with competence and professionalism. The Senior Planner must be an excellent team player with a track record of excellent judgement who has demonstrated initiative and been successful in improving processes.

The Senior Planner will assume a lead role in complex planning and development projects, including residential, mixed-use, commercial, industrial, and institutional proposals, and may assist in the preparation of environmental documents (both internally and through planning consultants).  The Senior Planner may also process legislative applications, such as zone changes and General Plan amendments, and occasionally assist with open space planning/natural resource management projects.

Primary responsibilities:

• Serve as project manager for complex development applications, exercising independent judgment in interpreting policies, coordinating multi-departmental review, and guiding projects through entitlement and public hearing processes. Lead and contribute to long-range planning initiatives, including implementation of the General Plan and participation in comprehensive updates. initiatives
• Manage consultant preparation of environmental documents in compliance with CEQA requirements, including Mitigated Negative Declarations and Environmental Impact Reports; review technical studies, coordinate interdepartmental input, and prepare environmental documentation as needed. Interpret and apply federal, state, and local land use regulations, including evolving California housing law, to ensure legally defensible and consistent project review.  Prepare and present clear, well-supported staff reports and policy analysis for City Council, Planning Commission, and community stakeholders.
• Process legislative applications, including Municipal Code Amendments, zone changes, and General Plan amendments
• Support implementation of downtown revitalization initiatives and Specific Plan updates/initiatives
