The City of Patterson is recruiting for a Firefighter Paramedic.  This safety position will respond to fire alarms, emergency medical calls, traffic accidents, rescue and other emergency calls to protect life and property.  This position will also participate in trainings, drills, study activities and in the maintenance of the department apparatus, equipment and facilities.  Under the supervision of the Fire Engineer or Fire Captain, performs advanced life support (ALS) care to patients of medical emergencies and other medical procedures. • Assists with and performs installation of new and existing software, complex configuration duties, and related data migration, conversion, maintenance, and extraction work; performs modifications, testing, and implementation of vendor software; develops, coordinates, and implements plans to test business and functional processes during system development and quality assurance; participates in the design of all required system interfaces and reviews and monitors vendors’ work.
• Serves as a trainer for staff regarding new procedures and software applications; demonstrates the software application systems; prepares written procedures and training materials for staff; provides support for specific department applications; tests programs and applications from users’ perspective.
• Conducts systems analyses; develops business and technical requirements; designs functional and technical specifications, writes source code, and tests applications.
• Assists in the planning and coordination of migrations from legacy systems and the implementation of ongoing maintenance of new computer systems.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

THE POSITION
To perform a variety of tasks in the maintenance of City-owned buildings, equipment and facilities.

The purpose of this recruitment is to hire a Temporary / Part-Time position. Applicants who do not meet the minimum qualifications for the Facility Maintenance Worker I position may be considered for employment as an Intern. Temporary / Part-Time employees work no more than 130 hours per month AND 960 hours per fiscal year. Typical work schedule will be three 8-hour shifts per week, excluding weekends and evenings.

IDEAL CANDIDATE
This position will perform semi-skilled tasks in a variety of light construction and maintenance activities. The Ideal Candidate will be customer-friendly and be a solutions-oriented professional who is flexible in dealing with shifting priorities, have good time management skills, and possess the ability to work effectively in the absence of supervision.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Maintain and repair City buildings, equipment and facilities by performing a variety of semiskilled carpentry, plumbing,  painting, heating/air conditioning, mechanical repair and electrical work as necessary. Inspect City buildings to locate conditions indicating the need for repairs and maintenance; assist in establishing and implementing preventative maintenance programs. Operate and maintain a variety of heavy tools and equipment, including small power and hand tools. Work cooperatively with others. Regular and consistent attendance.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Remodel and repair a variety of building components such as counters, tables, desks, bookshelves, cabinets, partitions, walls, windows and doors; boilers, water pumps, exhaust fans, compressors, and other water and sewage system plumbing as required. Perform electrical work such as wiring and rewiring; replace switches, ballast and receptacles as required. Position requires sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, and squatting in the performance of daily activities. The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement and fine coordination in preparing reports using a computer keyboard. Additionally, the position requires near and far vision in reading written reports and work related documents. Acute hearing is required when providing phone and personal service. Additionally, the incumbent in this position may work in all weather conditions including wet, hot and cold. The need to lift, drag and push files, paper and documents weighing up to 25 pounds is also required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of:  Principles and practices of public personnel administration; methods and techniques related to classification, compensation and benefits analysis; applicable state and federal employment laws and regulations; principles and techniques of recruitment and selection in the public sector; knowledge of Meyers-Milias-Brown Act, California Public Employees’ Retirement System, Worker's Compensation law, Family and Medical Leave Act, Fair Labor Standards Act, current labor case law and other related federal, state and local laws, codes and regulations.

Skill in:  Operate an office computer and variety of word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, financial and other software applications. Develop, analyze, proofread and maintain Excel spreadsheets.

Ability to:  Interpret the City's personnel programs and policies to employees and department managers; interpret and analyze information; coordinate a variety of tasks and assignments; elicit the cooperation of others; use a variety of computer software programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio; work in an office environment, which may require sitting for extended periods of time; maintain physical and mental condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties. Incumbents must possess the physical and mental capacity to work under the conditions described in this document and to perform the duties required by their assigned position.

The Dixon Police Department is opening positions for a Police Recruit to attend the Police Academy. The “Police Recruit” classification at the City of Dixon Police Department provides a unique opportunity for candidates to be sponsored through a P.O.S.T. certified basic academy during regular academy hours and any other scheduled departmental and academy exercise and activities.  Upon successfully completing the academy, Police Recruits shall be advanced to Police Officers and immediately begin the field training program to prepare them to function as solo officers. 

EMPLOYMENT PROCESSING:  Upon successful completion of academy, Police Officer appointees are required to complete a field training program and successfully complete an 18-month probationary period, and in accordance with Federal law, are to provide proof of identity and proof that they may legally work in the United States.
