The City of San Rafael, Child Care Division is accepting applications for Child Care Aide to work in our School-Age Program.  We are looking for people who are available Monday thru Friday from

2:00 – 6:00 pm.  This is a great part-time position for someone who attends school in the morning.  No weekend work required!

This position performs the following essential job duties (including but not limited to):

• Assist Director and Instructors in planning and implementing activities.
• Assist in the supervision of children at the child care center or on outings/trips.
• Assist in the cleaning and maintenance of equipment and materials.
• Assist in the preparation and cleanup of snacks.
• Other related duties as assigned.

• Child guidance methods.
• Developmentally-appropriate practices and curriculum.

• Accept direction from supervisor.
• Establish and maintain effective relationships.
• Work as scheduled.

• Some experience with school age children, preferably 6 months.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Department of Justice and FBI fingerprint clearance
• Prefer possession of a valid California Driver’s License
• Must have a current TB test clearance

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be able to perform physical activities such as but not limited to lifting or carrying children or heavy items (up to 40 lbs.) unassisted, reaching, bending, standing, or walking. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, twist, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Minimum Qualifications for consideration: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Education/Training: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade

Experience: One year of experience in the operation of a transit vehicle.

License or Certificate: Possession of an appropriate, valid commercial driver’s license with passenger endorsement. Possession of a valid Medical Examination Certification. Possession of, or ability to obtain within the initial training period, a Verification of Transit Training certificate.

The City of Thousand Oaks is seeking enthusiastic and service-oriented individuals to join our team!  As an Administrative Aide (Part-time, Hourly City Worker), you will interact with a broad range of customers and play an important role in delivering extraordinary customer service to City residents and customers.  The Administrative Aide will serve as a primary contact for City departments and maintain positive and professional customer relationships by responding promptly to inquiries and finding solutions.  

The Administrative Aide (Hourly City Worker) is a part-time, hourly, at-will position that involves working approximately 15-25 hours per week, not to exceed 29 hours in a week, or 1000 hours per fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th).  

Exact working hours will vary depending on the department or work location and will be between Monday - Friday. We currently have openings at City Hall/Civic Arts Plaza in the Community Development Department and the Transit division of the Public Works Department.

Primary duties may include but are not limited to:

• Provide clerical and administrative support for assigned department
• Greet clients/customers; answer incoming phone calls (may include multi-line phone system), and handle incoming and outgoing mail and email

• Maintain databases and ensure attention to detail when entering data
• Perform basic data analysis and prepare routine reports
• Support the day-to-day activities of assigned department

Additional department/division-specific duties include:

Transit:

• Tracking expenses, reimbursements, and budgets
• Performing light duty tasks for outdoor bus stops, including hand tools. Some driving will be required.

Under general supervision, a Police Officer is responsible for the performance of law enforcement duties to protect life and property in accordance with applicable laws, to carry out special assignments as necessary, and other related duties as assigned. A wide variety of assignments are available which include Patrol, Traffic, Narcotics, Detectives, Off-Road and Surface Street Motorcycle Patrol, Bike Patrol, Special Weapons Team, Crisis Negotiation Team, Canine, Background Investigations, School Liaison, Gang Suppression, Special Enforcement Section and Intelligence.

This position participates in a 4/10 work schedule. Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements:

Candidates must have completed a California P.O.S.T. Certified Police Academy. Must be 21 years of age as of the appointment date, high school graduate or G.E.D., (as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education), and U.S. citizen or a permanent resident alien who is eligible and has applied for citizenship.

Out-of-State Candidates:

The California Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) will conduct an evaluation of all out-of-state training. POST is the sole authority on applicable training and determines whether the candidate must attend an abbreviated academy, or a regular police academy. If an academy is required, the candidate will be hired as a Police Officer Trainee. Upon completion of the academy, promotion will be made to Police Officer.

Selection Process:

All qualified applicants will be invited to appear before an Oral Appraisal Board. Applicants passing the Oral Board examination will be placed on the eligibility list based on their Oral Appraisal Board rankings. Prospective employees will be required to pass a physical agility examination and undergo a thorough background investigation including a medical, psychological, polygraph and drug/alcohol screening.

The Department

The Suisun City Fire Department was established in 1861. The men and women of SCFD take great pride in the customer service that they provide to all who live, work and travel through Suisun City. SCFD is a mission-driven fire agency that remains focused on customers and safety. It is our goal that all members strive to attain a synergistic balance of education, training, and experience to provide excellent emergency management on every call. SCFD is a combination agency staffed with both full-time and volunteer fire personnel. We currently operate two Type 1 Fire Engines, one Type 3 Fire Engine, Ladder Truck, three Command Vehicles, one Type 5 Fire Engine, Zodiac Rescue Boats, and one USAR Trailer. The Suisun City Fire Department is an ALS (Paramedic) level department, supported by Medic Ambulance for transport services. Station 47 is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The Position

The ideal candidate would know and be responsible for performance of the full scope of assigned fire suppression, fire prevention, emergency medical care responsibilities, and for the protection of life and property. New incumbents may have limited related experience but are expected to learn the full range of duties and responsibilities, perform duties with minimal direct supervision, and exercise sound judgment and discretion in making decisions. Firefighters work a 48/96 work schedule, comprised of two 24-hour shifts followed by four 24-hour days off, averaging 56 hours per week.

The Department

The City’s Volunteer Fire Department is older than the City itself, founded as a volunteer corps in 1861 to replace a U.S. Army fire brigade. The largest volunteer urban Fire Department in California has undergone change to become a combination department, composed of both paid and volunteer staff. In addition, the department provides Advance Life Support (ALS) services and responds to over 3,000 calls for service annually. Staffing includes a Fire Chief, one Deputy Chief, one Fire Marshal, six Fire Captains, six Fire Engineers, an Administrative Assistant and 10 Reserve Volunteer Firefighters. Dispatch is staffed through the Public Safety Dispatch Center housed at the Police Department. Ambulance services are handled through a countywide contract. The Suisun City Department responds to fire, emergency and medical calls, as well as attaching units to wildland strike teams, when possible.

The Position

The ideal candidate will be a team-oriented problem-solver with a focus on public service. Recruits enter a training program to develop skills necessary to demonstrate abilities to respond to emergency fire and medical alarms, to protect life and property, to participate in fire suppression training and emergency medical training, to assist with station, apparatus and equipment maintenance, and to do related work as required. Volunteers are required to participate in a minimum of two 24 hour shifts or four 12 hour day shifts each month and complete assigned training.

Education:  Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. Additional specialized training in communications or a related field is desirable. 

Experience: Some emergency or non-emergency dispatch experience is desirable.

Light cleaning duties will be expected.
