The Recreation Specialist is a unique position that is primarily responsible for specific projects or long term projects requiring relevant knowledge and expertise.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES (This is a general description of duties and is not all-inclusive)

• Coordinate all aspects of a project
• Set up and maintain project files or computer databases as required
• Provide regular project updates including written reports to project leader in a timely manner
• May work independently or in a team environment depending on project requirements
• Provide expertise and support to project leader
• Enforce City policies and procedures
• May be required variable hours including evenings and weekends
• Perform other duties as assigned

SUPERVISION EXERCISED AND RECEIVED

General supervision is provided by the Recreation Supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Relevant technical skill, education, experience or expertise
• Ability to establish and maintain productive relations and positive attitude toward others
• Excellent written and verbal skills
• Excellent organizational and supervisory skills, be resourceful, flexible and able to work both alone or as a team member
• Must be reliable and be able to provide transportation

REQUIREMENTS FOR EMPLOYMENT

• Must be able to handle sensitive and/or stressful situations or information with tact, discretion and significant awareness of confidentiality
• Must effectively communicate with adults and children from a variety of cultural backgrounds
• Willingness to comply with suspected child abuse reporting (11166.5 PC)
• Employees are required to be certified in Adult/Child CPR, First Aid, & AED from American Red Cross, American Heart Association or supervisor approved equivalent. Employees must be certified within 30 days of hire date or prior to the first day of work, whichever occurs earlier.
• Fingerprinting and TB test are required
• Must submit verification of legal right to work in the United States as a condition of employment

DEFINITION: Under general supervision, provide personal fitness training to clients requesting service; maintain personal schedule at the front desk; enforce all rules and regulations pertaining to the safety and well being of all patrons; keep fitness floor tidy and clean. The Waterpark EMT is responsible for responding to emergencies and providing efficient and immediate care to the critically ill/injured at Adventure Waterpark. In addition, The EMT provides security services as needed. The EMT is expected to work weekends and holidays on a regular basis.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES (This is a general description of duties and is not all-inclusive)

• Functions within the scope of care as defined by state, regional, and local regulatory agencies
• Provide outstanding customer service while performing assigned duties, including interpreting and conveying information throughout the Waterpark
• Ability to open/maintain an airway, administer CPR, control hemorrhage, bandage wounds, immobilize extremities, administer oxygen, and other duties within the scope of practice
• Respond to emergencies in a timely and safe manner
• Recognize hazardous situations and contain area until help arrives
• Produce competent reports of incidents and injuries
• Provide public security services during the course of the day and for Admin at closing
• Uphold all rules and regulations of the Waterpark
• Maintain a high degree of confidentiality, professionalism, and integrity while performing all aspects of assigned responsibilities
• Attend training and staff meetings as assigned
• Assist other City departments in the event of major emergencies
• Perform other duties as assigned

SUPERVISION EXERCISED AND RECIEVED

The position is supervised by the Waterpark Operations Manager and/or Recreation Supervisor

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be 18 years or older
• Possess E.M.T. certification with experience in the field, and submit verification upon hire
• Possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral
• Ability to establish and maintain productive relations and positive attitude with and toward others
• Possess good organizational skills and be able to multi-task
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required
• Ability to secure and retain valid California driver's license
• All candidates must meet the following physical requirements:
  • Must not be allergic to chlorine or other pool chemicals
  • Sit or stand for long periods of time (100% of assigned shift, and/or in excess of 10 hours)
  • Ability to walk up and down stairs
  • Ability to lift and maneuver at least 50 pounds
  • Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, push, and pull
  • Work in an outdoor environment with wet conditions and extreme heat
  • Work in direct sunlight
  • Vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

The Newark Recreation and Community Services Department is looking for Pool Service Technician for our fantastic swim lesson and aquatic programs, to work at the Silliman Activity & Family Aquatic Center. We are looking for someone to perform a wide variety of duties related to maintaining the City’s Aquatics facilities, pools, water slides and property. Swimming experience is desired. Please note that this position requires you to work in an indoor aquatic environment subject to warm/humid temperatures.

DEFINITION: Under general supervision, responsibilities will include but not be limited to light office tasks, customer service, set up and take down of facility equipment and janitorial tasks. Perform related work as required.

Lead Facilities Attendants are expected to oversee Facility Attendant staff, supporting ongoing training, communication, and tracking of facility rentals, as well as speak and respond to rental related needs/ issues.   This is a part-time, year-round position.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

• Set up and take down tables, chairs, audio-visual equipment, and other related material and equipment.
• Greet public and provide general information for all Recreation department classes, programs, and events.
• Daily janitorial/maintenance duties such as routine and special cleaning of restrooms, community center rooms (i.e. wipe counters, vacuum floors, sweep walkways, empty trash receptacles, replace paper products and litter pick-up).
• Monitors guest activities in the community center and enforce all rules, regulations and safety principals.
• Assist in opening and closing procedures for the entire Community Center.
• Occasionally assist with the coordination and execution of Department-sponsored outdoor events or classes.
• Maintain records and reports as required.

Building Attendant I/II

Part-Time Position - No Benefits

Approximately 20 hours per week - Evenings & Weekends
 (Not to exceed 1,000 hours in a fiscal year)

$1.00/hr extra on weekends

The Belmont Parks and Recreation Department is recruiting for part-time Building Attendants. Building Attendants provide operational supervision of facilities during the absence of full-time staff.

Building Attendant I - This is the entry level class in the Building Attendant series.  Incumbents in this class work under close supervision.  As experience is gained, incumbents may be granted more independence of action under established guidelines.

Building Attendant II - This is the journey level class in the Building Attendant series. Incumbents are expected to work independently in the absence of close supervision.
