Our five all-day summer camps run from June 15 to August 14, with staff training beginning June 8. The City of Lincoln is hiring up to 12 Senior Recreation Aides within the Recreation Department. We are seeking candidates who demonstrate a passion for working with children, along with strong reliability, creativity, and enthusiasm.

Seasonal employees are limited to working no more than 999 hours in a fiscal year.

Under general supervision, performs a variety of frontline staff duties within the City Recreation Department and other related duties as required.

The Senior Recreation Aide is the advanced journey level class and is responsible for performing more complex assignments within an established procedural framework where there are consequences of error. This classification is distinguished from the next higher classification of Recreation Coordinator by the performance of complex assignments and supervisory responsibilities.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED/EXERCISED:

Receives supervision from administrative and/or management staff. Incumbents of this class do not routinely exercise supervision but those at the higher levels may be asked to supervise from time to time but not on a consistent basis.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  (include but are not limited to the following)

Duties specific to working as a Recreation Aide in the Sports arena:

• Assist with the following: set-up and tear down of program equipment, preparation of playing fields and routine facility maintenance.
• Keep statistics and accurate score for basketball, softball, flag football, soccer & volleyball.
• Collect and record the team’s lineups and assist officials during the game with specific rules and policies.
• Officiate adult & youth volleyball, youth basketball & youth flag football games.
• Uphold the rules of play and code of conduct.

Duties specific to working as a Recreation Aide in the Camp/General arena: 

• Develop and implement activities and programs for youth.
• Directly supervise children, monitor and redirect behavior, both on site and during trips.

Duties that pertain to both areas:

• Assist with the creation and distribution of advertising material for upcoming recreational programs and events.
• Assist with the distribution & collection of participant surveys.
• Demonstrate understanding of applicable policies, procedures and work methods associated with assigned duties.
• Establish positive working relationships with City management and staff, and the public.

Physical Requirements
This position requires a moderate to high level of physical activity depending on program assignment. Duties may include standing, walking, bending, squatting, kneeling, reaching, and sitting for extended periods of time while facilitating programs, interacting with participants, or performing administrative tasks. Employees must be able to actively supervise and engage participants in a variety of recreation programs and activities, both indoors and outdoors, and move quickly to respond to participant needs and ensure safety. The position may also require lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling equipment, supplies, tables, chairs, or other materials weighing up to approximately 30 – 50 pounds as part of program setup and breakdown. Some assignments may involve computer and desk work for program planning, communication, and administrative duties.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City Parks, Recreation & Community Services Department is looking for enthusiastic high school students to train and work within our After School Sports Program as a flag football, volleyball, or basketball official. On game days, youth referees will be partnered with experienced officials that will provide training and mentorship. Youth officials will typically work two days a week. Game days and times are Monday through Thursday, from 3:45pm-7pm.

Official’s shirt, whistle, and training resources are provided. All training is provided by the Silicon Valley Sports Officials Association. Training dates will vary based on sport and season and will include classroom and hands-on instruction.

The City of Auburn is hiring for the seasonal, part-time Bus Driver I position in the Auburn Transit Department.

Auburn Transit is looking for qualified individuals to join our transit team. Under direction, assists in the overall operations of a swimming pool facility, and its assigned temporary employees; assists in the planning, organizing, coordination, development, implementation, promotion, and evaluation of aquatic activities and programs for all ages.

The Assistant Pool Manager is the working lead class responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the pool and aquatics program. This class is distinguished from the next higher classification of Pool Manager in that the latter has overall responsibility for the pool operations, programs, and staff.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED/EXERCISED

Receives direction from the Pool Manager. Exercises indirect supervision over temporary and seasonal aquatics personnel; may exercise direct supervision in the Pool Manager’s absence.

• Complete, review, and file accident and incident reports; assist with follow-up related to reports; purchase, check, and maintain first aid equipment; perform daily safety checks and inspections of the facility and all equipment.
• Assist with employee schedules; complete reports on chemical tests; assist with the training of lifeguards and other aquatics staff; verify and check aquatics staff timecards; submit timecards to Pool Manager for approval; coordinate and facilitate staff meetings; assist with special events.
• Work with maintenance staff to ensure that pool facility maintenance procedures are followed.
• Keep the pool, pool deck, and auxiliary buildings/areas clean and free of litter and debris.
• Act as the Pool Manager in her/his absence.

DEFINITION:

The Music Instructor is responsible for providing quality music instruction to participants of varying skill levels in a positive and engaging environment. This position requires strong knowledge of music techniques and the ability to plan and deliver lessons that meet individual participants’ needs. The instructor will plan, prepare, and implement music lessons tailored to each participant’s abilities and goals, teaching music theory, aural skills, and practical techniques to individuals and groups. They will also prepare participants for performances or showcases as part of the program, select and acquire appropriate teaching materials and resources, and motivate participants to achieve continuous progress. In addition, the Music Instructor will communicate effectively with recreation staff and parents/caregivers regarding schedules, progress, and participant needs, assess participants’ abilities, provide constructive feedback, and maintain progress records. Delivering excellent customer service and representing the City in a professional and positive manner are essential aspects of this role. Under the direct or general supervision of the Recreation Coordinator, performs a variety of duties to supervise the pool, decks, and additional areas of an aquatic facility; and provides swimming instruction.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Maintain constant surveillance as assigned to safeguard swimmers from drowning and other accidents.
• Maintain discipline and orderly conduct among patrons and enforce all pertinent City pool rules and regulations in order to maintain a safe environment.

DEFINITION:

The City of Union City’s Community and Recreation Services Department is seeking passionate, motivated, and certified fitness professionals to join the Mark Green Sports Center (MGSC) team as Group Exercise Instructors and/or Personal Trainers. This position supports the City’s mission to promote health, wellness, and community engagement through high-quality fitness programs. Trainers and instructors work in a supportive, community-based environment — with no commission-based quotas or sales pressure. Instead, our Fitness Coordinator assists in client promotion, class opportunities, and professional growth through internal referrals and member engagement. Group Exercise Instructors may join our substitute roster and may be assigned to teach classes aligned with their certification and experience as openings arise.

Personal Training  

• Conduct client assessments, orientations, and personalized training sessions.

• Promote member engagement through professionalism, reliability, and encouragement.  
• Ensure client safety, confidentiality, and adherence to Mark Green Sports Center policies.  .

Group Exercise Instruction  

• Lead safe, engaging, and inclusive group exercise classes in relation to certification and/or experience.  
• Sub for scheduled instructors as needed.  
• Provide classes with enthusiasm, professionalism, and energy that fosters motivation and participation.
• Greet and meet participants when preparation for class to start. 
• Maintain professional communication.  
• Ensure client safety, confidentiality, and adherence to Mark Green Sports Center policies.
