The Parks, Recreation & Community Services Manager – Senior Services is responsible for leading the operations, programs, services, and community engagement efforts that support Redwood City’s older adult population. This position oversees a broad range of senior services, including recreation programming, wellness initiatives, social services coordination, special events, facility operations, partnerships, and community outreach, while helping ensure the City’s brand new 45,000 square foot senior center continues to be a welcoming, active, inclusive, and responsive community space.

This role provides leadership and oversight for the day-to-day operations of senior services programs and facilities, including staff supervision, budget administration, program development, strategic planning, contract management, and customer service delivery. The Manager works collaboratively across City departments and with community organizations, regional agencies, volunteers, and service providers to support programs and services that enhance quality of life, social connection, health, and lifelong learning opportunities for older adults.

 

The Manager also serves as a key liaison to community stakeholders and the Senior Affairs commission, helps guide long-range planning efforts related to aging services and ensures programs and services reflect the evolving needs of Redwood City’s diverse senior community. Responsibilities include overseeing operational logistics, evaluating program effectiveness, supporting staff development, and maintaining strong partnerships that advance the City’s commitment to accessible and high-quality community services.

San Mateo County Health is seeking well-qualified individuals for the position of Public Authority Payroll/Personnel Services Specialist. The current vacancy is in the Public Authority.  NOTE: This is not a County position.

This is a full-time position working Monday–Friday. A hybrid schedule may be available; however, approximately four on-site workdays per week are anticipated based on operational needs and County requirements. The position is currently located in San Mateo, CA, but will relocate to South San Francisco, CA, planned for December 2026. This role requires travel throughout the County and periodic travel within the State of California.

There is currently one vacancy that requires Spanish bilingual fluency.  

 

Public Authority
The Public Authority (PA) was established by the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors in 1993 for the purpose of administering the provider components of the County of San Mateo's In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) program. The IHSS Program provides homecare services to Medi-Cal eligible individuals who are aged, blind or disabled to assist them to remain safely in their homes as an alternative to out-of-home care. The Public Authority provides personnel and payroll services for IHSS caregivers, and Registry caregiver services for IHSS recipients.
  
 The Public Authority Payroll/Personnel Services Specialist duties include:

• Performing technical and specialized office support work, relating specifically to employer-of-record, payroll, and benefits administration, which may require the use of independent judgment and the application of technical skills.
• Serving as Officer of the Day according to an established schedule.
• Performing related duties as assigned.

 

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

• Written and Verbal Communication Skills in Spanish and English – Guide sensitive conversations with caregivers regarding payroll-related issues in person, over the phone, or via email.
• Public Speaking – Present program information during new caregiver orientation.
• Organizational Skills - Maintain a caseload and provide payroll, benefit, and personnel services for caregivers. Maintain case notes on work performed.
• Interpersonal Skills – Manage a high call volume and support lobby visitors with responsiveness and efficiency. Build cohesive working relationships with program staff within Aging and Disability Services. Strong customer service skills.
• Judgement and Decision Making - Perform quality assurance oversight on payroll, case, and provider management activities and make appropriate referrals to the Program Integrity Unit. Evaluate timesheet errors and manage corrections according to State program regulations.
• Basic Business Data Processing – Create and/or update caregiver profiles in the State’s computer system.
• Experience with Microsoft Office – Maintain Outlook calendar, communicate with staff via Teams, create and edit Excel spreadsheets to log and track phone calls/messages.
• Administrative - Accurately process and scan documents. Ability to utilize multiple IT systems seamlessly.
• Collaboration and Teamwork – Work collaboratively with program staff, caregivers, and community partners to ensure efficient service delivery and maintain positive working relationships across teams.

• Evaluate timesheet errors and manage corrections according to State program regulations.
• Manage administration of IHSS provider benefits.
• Communicate with clients, providers and social workers regarding implementation of all aspects of provider management in the IHSS program.
• Accurately assemble information from a variety of sources for the completion of forms and reports.
• Accurately process and scan forms.
• Provide extensive customer service through telephone, electronic and face-to-face interactions with providers and clients.
• Serve as Officer of the Day according to an established schedule.
• Perform quality assurance oversight on payroll, case and provider management activities.
• Assess irregular payroll activities and make appropriate referrals to Program Integrity Unit.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is:
 
Payroll/Personnel Coordinator II: One year of journey level general or fiscal office support experience which has included payroll or personnel assistance OR two years of general clerical or office assistant experience.
 

Knowledge of:

• Methods and practices related to payroll and personnel processes in a complex, public agency.
• County labor contracts, Civil Service Rules and other related policies and procedures.
• Standard processes for completing and processing varied payroll and personnel documents.
• Office administrative practices and procedures, including record keeping and the operation of standard office equipment.
• Basic business data processing and business arithmetic, including percentages and decimals.
• Correct English and Spanish usage, including spelling, grammar and punctuation.
• Record keeping principles and procedures.

Skill/Ability to:

The County of San Mateo’s Department of Public Works is seeking applications for the position of Equipment Mechanic III.

The Equipment Mechanic III, under general supervision, service and repair water district pumps and emergency generators, perform mechanical maintenance and repair work on road construction equipment in the shop as well as out in the field and perform routine maintenance and repair tasks as appropriate.

The Vehicle and Equipment Services Section maintains, inspects, services, and repairs County motor vehicles including school and other buses, trucks, equipment, Sheriff's Office vehicles, and motor pool vehicles. Our service and repair stations are located in Redwood City and San Mateo.

 

Examples Of Duties

 

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Inspect and maintain water district pumps and all emergency generators.
• Perform and run tests on all assigned pumps and generators as required.
• Perform preventative maintenance on all pumps and generators, including tune-ups, oil changes.
• Overhaul pumps, adjust packing, and adjust thrust washers.
• Maintain a record of each unit, which may include but not limited to, preventative maintenance, and inspection dates and times.
• Maintain and troubleshoot diesel process equipment such as pumps, valves, mechanical seals and tanks.
• Perform and coordinate preventative maintenance per required schedule and procedures.
• Certify pumps and generators to meet California Air Board Quality standards.
• Overhaul small to large gasoline and diesel engines.
• Replace bearings, adjust and repair electrical and fuel systems.
• Replace wheel cylinders, reline and adjust brakes.
• Inspect and replace shock absorbers, tie rods, ball joints, king pins, idler arms, and steering arms.
• Inspect, repair and replace master cylinders, wheel cylinders, pads, linings, calipers, drums, shoes and brake drum rotors.
• Clean and pack wheel bearings, and U-joints.
• Install, inspect, repair and replace electrical and ignition systems, including generators, alternators, voltage regulators, batteries and emergency equipment.
• Install, inspect, repair and replace fuel systems including pumps, filters, and carburetors.
• Perform routine tune-ups of vehicles, which includes replacing air cleaner, spark plugs, points, condenser; inspect, repair or replace wires, belts, distributors; clean and adjust the carburetor and set the timing.

• Remove and replace tracks, engines, motors, bearings and other component parts.
• Inspect, operate and repair all hydraulic equipment.

• Make repairs of equipment in field when necessary.

• Possession and maintenance of a valid California Commercial Learner’s Permit at the time of appointment is required if a California Class A Commercial Driver’s License is not held; and must obtain and maintain a valid California Class A Commercial Driver’s License with tank vehicle and hazardous materials endorsements within six months of hire.

The Superior Court of California, County of San Mateo is seeking a dependable and skilled Court Utility / Maintenance Worker to support daily court operations through general maintenance, repair, custodial coverage, and logistical services. This position performs a wide range of semi-skilled and skilled tasks essential to maintaining well-cared for and professional court facilities.

THE DEPARTMENT
The Burlingame Police Department is a municipal, full service, community oriented department.  We offer a variety of investigative, preventative, and community policing programs to both protect and serve a community that spans five square miles and is home to more than 28,000 residents.

The Burlingame Police Department is divided into two divisions: Operations and Administration.  The force currently consists of 40 police officers, made up of the Chief of Police, 1 Captain, 2 Lieutenants, 6 Sergeants, 6 Corporals, 2 Inspectors, and 22 Patrol Officers.

POSITION
Burlingame Police Officers are responsible for preventing crime, arresting law violators, directing traffic, etc.  In that capacity, officers may also serve in special assignments such as K-9, detective, SWAT, hostage teams, FTO, and motorcycle patrol.

Under the Leadership of the Family Justice Center Director, the County is working with community partners and stakeholders to develop a one-stop holistic service and support center for families and survivors of domestic violence, child abuse, sexual assault, and other forms of abuse. The mission of the Center is to support survivors and their families by creating a single destination to receive crucial services and support.

The San Mateo County Family Justice Center is a County-run multi-agency, multi-disciplinary service center where both public and private partner agencies assign staff on a full-time or part-time basis to provide services from one location. The Center’s focus will be on reducing the number of times survivors tell their story, reducing the number of places they must go for help, and through active collaboration with community-based organizations, increasing the quality of services and support they receive.

ABOUT THE POSITION
