The ideal CPS candidate will have the ability to:

• Provide excellent customer service to a diverse community of all ages in a busy public library.
• Design, adapt, and deliver innovative services that benefit the needs of the community.
• Identify and implement research-based methods, practices, techniques, and pedagogy that help learners succeed.
• Maintain and develop inclusive programs that support learners, including but not limited to English as a Second Language (ESL) learners.
• Plan, schedule, coordinate, and carry out programming, workshops, and classes.
• Coordinate and participate in outreach activities to community groups and agencies, ranging from tabling to public speaking.
• Collect and maintain program records and statistics and create reports, as needed.
• Assist in the recruitment, training, and management of volunteers.

• Guide patrons in learning by doing, teach groups and individuals with a wide variety of tech experience and learning styles.
• Plan, schedule, coordinate, and carry out technology, maker, and STEM-related workshops and events to patrons of all age groups in the library and at school visits, fairs, and other outreach activities to community groups and agencies.
• Train coworkers in new technologies and support peers as an IT mentor and guide.
• Support the successful deployment of new technologies to the public and recommend and provide feedback on the implementation of new technologies.
• Have familiarity with makerspaces and makerspace technology including: 3-D printers, laser printers, vinyl cutters, and design software.
• Assist in the creation of technical documentation and procedures as needed.
• Have experience working with Windows and Mac OS, and mobile devices.

About the Opportunity

The City of Millbrae is looking for a full-time Deputy Finance Director based in Millbrae, California.

More About You

 

Education: Graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in accounting, finance, business administration, public administration, or a closely related field.

Experience: At least 5 years of progressively responsible professional experience in accounting, finance, or a related field, including 3+ years in a supervisory or management capacity.

Licenses: Possession of a valid California Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record. A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license and a Certified Public Finance Officer (CPFO) certificate are highly desirable.

The Department

The South San Francisco Public Library is a full-service library committed to delivering quality services to a diverse community.  Library services are available at three sites, including the Main Library (901 Civic Campus Way), the Grand Avenue Library (306 Walnut Avenue) and the Gene Mullin Community Learning Center (520 Tamarack Lane).  Lifelong literacy services are provided by Project Read at the Main Library and the Gene Mullin Community Learning Center (GMCLC). 

The Position

This position manages core library literacy services over several program areas that include one-on-one adult tutoring, ESL, Computer and Citizenship instruction and programs, family literacy outreach and activities including our early literacy outreach van, afterschool homework program for a local Title I school, and literacy programs that cross many interest areas such as computer literacy, civic literacy, financial literacy.  Library literacy services are based out of the SSF Main Library and the Gene Mullin Community Learning Center and are embedded in general library services, supporting community members in their reading, learning, civic engagement and personal literacy goals.

Position Summary

Under the general direction of the District Engineer, plans, organizes and directs activities of the Engineering Contracts Section of the Engineering Department. Manages the centralization of engineering contract development activities.  Manages implementation of contract administration procedures.  Manages coordination between project managers and District attorneys, insurance advisor, capital and grants staff, Small Business Enterprise staff, state and federal funding oversight agencies, and consultants/contractors.  Manages the preparation and processing of requests for proposals for professional services and invitations for construction bids for District facilities capital improvement projects.   Administers professional services agreements and construction contracts, including verification of consultants and contractors' compliance with certified payroll submissions, prevailing wage requirements and other contract labor rules.  Supervises contract administration staff.  Provides assistance to District Engineer regarding engineering contract matters, budget analysis and cash flow reports, including acting as liaison between District Engineer and District Officers, Heads of District Divisions and the Board of Directors. Essential Responsibilities

• Organizes, plans, writes, directs, coordinates reviews and prepares final versions of requests for proposals, formal bids, professional service agreements, purchase agreements, construction contracts, amendments and change orders in adherence to federal, state, local laws and regulations and District procurement policies and guidelines.

DEFINITION

• Assist in recording numbers for attendance and nutrition reports. Perform related duties as assigned.
• Assist Site Supervisors with the evaluation process for Childcare Aides, Associate Teachers, Teachers, and Full-time Teachers (I/II) that are assigned to their programs.
• Attend and participate in required in-service training activities.
• Assist Site Coordinator in preparing yearly State of California Desired Results reports, including managing children’s portfolios, and monitoring student progress by using Desired Results Developmental Profile and designated online educational platforms.
