The Town of Hillsborough is seeking highly motivated, positive, and people-oriented candidates for part-time per diem Communications Officer positions in the Police Department. Shift coverage is needed on daytime and overnight shifts. This position is only open to candidates with two or more years of experience as a Public Safety Dispatcher in California in the previous five (5) years.

GENERAL PURPOSE

Under general supervision, receives and transmits routine and emergency telephone and radio traffic;

dispatches and coordinates police, fire, public works and other municipal staff and equipment via multi-frequency two-way radio; maintains and processes a variety of communications reports, records, and radio logs; and does related work as required.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS

Communications Officer II

This classification has primary responsibility for staffing the Town’s public safety dispatch communication center. Under most circumstances, the training and experience for this position would occur by having prior experience working for another police department as a Communications Officer for a period of at least two years.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Communications Officer II typically performs, but is not limited to, the duties noted below on a regular basis:

• Receives and handles incoming telephone and voice radio calls for police, fire, ambulance, and public works

• Secures and records information as to exact locations and circumstances using radio or other equipment to dispatch appropriate units to the emergency scene.

• Maintains radio contact with local units on assignment and directs and coordinates with staff from other agencies on a mutual-aid basis, as needed.

• Operates a multi-channel two-way radio, telephones, teletype, office equipment and software systems.

• Performs numerous duties simultaneously.

• Prioritizes calls for service as well as other work-related tasks such as assisting with schedule, monitoring email account or assisting with social media.

• Maintains radio logs and records other information as required.

• Maintains resource files for computer aided dispatch system.

• Serves as trainer to newly hired dispatchers on as needed basis.

• Assist with providing state-mandated training on relevant matters to other department staff, as directed.

• Oversees and performs work related to the warrant process.

• Maintains dispatch center work area and equipment in clean and working condition

• Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Education:
Equivalent to graduation from high school

Graduation from or enrollment in a POST accredited Dispatch Academy.

Experience:
Two or more year(s) of experience as a Public Safety Dispatcher in California in the past five years.

License or Certificate:

Must possess and maintain a valid California Class C driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record.

DEFINITION 

As a Building Attendant, you will be responsible for the daily upkeep and maintenance of the Burlingame Community Center, ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all occupants. This role requires a hands-on individual with excellent attention to detail and strong communication skills.

Hours: (Average 10-20 hours per week). Hours depend on rentals and special events. Shifts may include, but are not limited too:

Monday-Thursday: 2:30pm-9:15pm

Friday: 2:30pm-5:30pm
Saturday/Sunday: 7:30am-1:15pm
Saturday/Sunday: 12:45pm-5:30pm
As needed: Private rentals as late as 2:00am. Shifts will vary week to week. There is no set schedule.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  (include but are not limited to the following)
Opens and closes the building, provides excellent customer service, and maintains a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. Performs regular cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning windows and mirrors, restocking and sanitizing restrooms, emptying trash and recycling, and wiping down surfaces. Assists with event and class setup and takedown of tables, chairs, and equipment, operates audiovisual equipment, and ensures renters follow facility policies, completing final walk-through reports as needed. Staffs the front desk to greet visitors, answer questions, answer phones, take messages, and process registrations and sales.

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILLS:

Vacation Pay. Education: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade supplemented by course work in public administration or a closely related field.

Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed for relevant education, experience, training and other job related qualifications. Based upon a review of employment applications received, a limited number of the qualified applicants will be invited to participate in the examination process.

The process will consist of an Oral Panel Interview (weighted 80%) and a written exercise (weighted 20%). The Position

• Install, maintain, repair and research a variety of supervisory controls and replacement electrical components that are part of advanced wastewater treatment processes such as aeration, filtration, disinfection and dichlorination, sludge dewatering, odor control, and an environmental laboratory.
• Perform wiring required for the installation of electronic equipment; electrical conductors in conduits; splice high and low voltage cables utilizing hand taping and pre- molded splice kits.
• Design, install, maintain, repair, test and construct electrical assemblies.
• Troubleshoot plant electrical systems, controls and related process equipment. Provide technical support for other work groups within Public Works.
• Specify, install, program, and repair various types of variable frequency motor drive systems.
• Fabricate, maintain, install, service, and calculate power load distributions to various motors and related equipment.
• Install and repair programmable logic controllers and install related hardware and software for control systems in conjunction with controls technician.
• Maintain and repair automatic control valves and associated control functions.
• Implement preventive maintenance and repair on motors from fractional to over 400 horsepower. Record and calculate current requirements for new electrical installations.
• Troubleshoot, perform inspections, preventive maintenance and repairs on industrial switchgear and high voltage equipment such as transformers, breakers, circuits, switches, relays, regulators and distribution panels.
• Specify, install, and inspect various types of conduit; isolate breakers and switches for major repairs; coordinate repairs and scheduled outages with operations staff.
• Conduct surveys to gather field data.
• Use aerial lifts, scaffolding and ladders.
• Prepare requisitions and associated documents for purchase of repair parts and supplies.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and associated costs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The WWTP Electrical Technician receives general supervision from the WWTP Maintenance Superintendent or higher level personnel and exercises technical and functional supervision over assigned technical and maintenance personnel.

GENERAL INFO

Under general supervision, the Recreation Leader I/II provides essential support to recreation programs and services by performing custodial tasks, event setup and teardown, program support, and minor maintenance duties at various facilities, including parks and community centers.
