Position Duties

The Department of Public Works is currently seeking to fill one (1) full-time, Communication Installer vacancy.

Salary range for this classification is: $86,508.24- $105,115.92

This range includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable pay. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates’ qualifications and experience.

Under general supervision of the Buildup Equipment Maintenance Supervisor, the Communications Installer performs duties related to the installation, fabrication, and servicing of automotive electrical systems and devices. This role places special emphasis on emergency lighting and communication systems across a wide range of vehicles, including police vehicles and motorcycles, fire apparatus, and other municipal fleet vehicles.

Installations must meet or exceed OEM manufacturer quality standards and follow industry best practices. This includes proper wire sizing based and circuit protection on electrical loads, strategic equipment placement with an emphasis on serviceability, correct wire routing, effective power distribution, appropriate antenna placement, and proper grounding and power return.

The Communications Installer is also responsible for installing intercom systems, emergency and warning lighting, vehicle electronics, computer equipment and terminals, antennas, and custom non-standard equipment. They must be able to integrate after market components into OEM systems. These systems are commonly utilized in emergency response vehicles and other specialized municipal equipment.

This position requires the following knowledge and abilities in order to be successful in the position: 

• Knowledge and ability to install and diagnose the systems and equipment utilized by the City’s Fleet including sirens, light bars, accessory lighting, FLIR devices, Tracking systems, timers, and the knowledge to interface with those systems when necessary.
• Disassembly and reassembly of vehicles interior panels with emphasis on not damaging the components.  
• Ability to follow verbal/written direction, read/ interpret schematics, schematic symbols, and wire diagrams.
• Ability to accurately document all non-standard installations, complete necessary paperwork, installation forms, and data entry in a timely manner.
• Ability to work effectively and communicate with internal and external stake holders on interconnection and installation. May be required to diagnose issues when necessary.
• Ability to work in a team environment on large projects working within established labor standards to meet project completion goals.
• Data entry and labor hour tracking within in a fleet database

The Communication Installer maybe required to work on weekends and/or holidays when necessary.

THE POSITION

Tri-City Mental Health Authority is currently hiring to fill two (2) full-time vacancies for the position of Clinical Therapist II within the Mobile Crisis Care Program (MCCP). 

Tri-City’s MCCP operates 24/7 to provide crucial support in mobile crises. As such, the schedule will involve a 3/12 shift pattern, consisting of three twelve-hour days per workweek and one alternating eight-hour day every other week. Shifts may include evenings, weekends, daytime hours, and holidays.

The specific shift and schedule will be determined by the supervisor; however, the first one to two months of training will follow a 5-day-per-week, 40-hour-per-week schedule

Examples of shifts are included below:

• Day Shifts: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM, 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM, or 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
• Night Shifts: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, 7:00 PM - 3:00 AM, 8:00 PM - 8:00 AM, or 8:00 PM - 4:00 AM

Weekend and night shifts will be entitled to Shift Differential Pay of $2.50 per hour on weekdays (Monday through Friday) and $3.50 per hour on weekends (Saturday and Sunday). Holiday shifts will be entitled to Holiday Pay.

Tri-City is looking for individuals to serve as Clinical Therapist II on a full-time basis for the MCCP. The MCCP Clinical Therapist II will be part of a team that provides crisis intervention and stabilization, linkage and referral, consultation, and education within the scope of practice. The MCCP Clinical Therapist II will report to the Mobile Crisis Care Clinical Supervisor and Clinical Program Manager.

This position is responsible for a variety of ongoing responsibilities including, but not limited to:

• Respond to client’s (Full-Service Partnership and Adult and Children’s Outpatient Programs and other specialty mental health services) crisis calls with or without law enforcement;
   

• Perform field-based and telephone emergency mental health evaluations and crisis stabilization in accordance with agency procedure;

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience: Four (4) years of experience operating heavy motorized equipment such as that used in the construction trades.

Certifications/Licenses: Possession of a valid State of California Class A driver's license with applicable endorsements is required.

The Department: 

The Finance Department administers the financial affairs of the City of Santa Clara, including City-owned public utilities. The Finance Department seeks to recruit a Meter Reader with experience working independently, with a high level of motivation, integrity, and customer service. This position will read between 500 and 1,200 analog and digital residential, commercial, and industrial water and electric utility meters to ensure the accuracy of readings entered into a hand-held data entry terminal. This position plays a key role in ensuring accurate utility billing and revenue integrity by collecting and recording meter data while providing courteous, professional interactions with customers in the field.

CITY OF SARATOGA, COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT • INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY

This internship is offered as part of a Regional Internship Partnership designed to introduce current students and recent college graduates to local municipal government. The City of Saratoga participates in this program with the goal of connecting a diverse student population to public sector work, providing meaningful hands-on experience that supports both personal and professional growth.

Position Description

The Community Development Department has one part-time, paid summer internship opportunity in its Development Services Division (up to 20 hours per week). The selected intern will gain hands-on experience in municipal arboriculture, working alongside City staff on a range of tasks that support the protection and management of Saratoga’s urban tree canopy. The internship runs for up to 12 weeks, and the start and end dates can be arranged around the selected candidate’s college summer break schedule.

The workload will balance supporting day-to-day operations with exposure to longer-term planning and research projects. The intern will receive assignments and work direction from staff within the department.

Tree Permit Applications and Development Review. The intern will assist staff in the processing of tree permit applications and the review of development projects. This includes evaluating applications for consistency with the City’s tree regulations and tracking project status through the review process.

Field Inspections and Plan Review. The intern will participate in field inspections to assess potential construction impacts on trees. Work will include reviewing grading and site plans, identifying tree protection measures, and documenting field conditions.

Research and Ordinance Work. The intern will support research related to the City’s tree ordinance and fire preparedness initiatives. This may include reviewing comparable ordinances from neighboring jurisdictions, summarizing research findings, and supporting the City’s ordinance update process.

Tree Identification and Health Assessment. The intern will learn to identify tree species commonly found in Saratoga and develop familiarity with common pests, diseases, and abiotic factors that affect tree health. This knowledge will be applied during field work and permit review.

Tree Appraisal. The intern will be introduced to the basics of tree appraisal methodology, including an overview of how trees are valued in the context of permit applications and development projects.

Database Maintenance. The intern will assist with the maintenance of department databases and records related to tree permits, inspections, and urban forestry data.

Community Interaction. The intern will have the opportunity to interact directly with Saratoga residents and contractors, developing professional communication skills in a public service context.

Overview:

Are you an experienced Vegetation Maintenance professional with five or more years of experience and a valid Class A driver’s license? If so, we encourage you to consider this opportunity with Valley Water.

Maintenance Worker III is an advanced journey-level position responsible for operating a variety of light construction equipment in support of Valley Water’s maintenance and construction projects. This role provides agency-wide support for work on creeks, ponds, reservoirs, and other flood control facilities throughout the county.

Assigned to the Vegetation Field Operations Unit, this position performs a broad range of duties supporting Valley Water’s vegetation management programs. Responsibilities include vegetation control, integrated vegetation management, arboriculture, native plant revegetation, invasive plant management, and biotechnical erosion control on Valley Water properties.

This is primarily an outdoor position requiring work in varying and sometimes challenging environmental conditions, including heat, cold, and rain. Incumbents may also be required to respond to after-hours flood control emergencies, including nighttime callouts.

As a light equipment operator, the Maintenance Worker III must possess a valid Class A driver’s license to operate Valley Water commercial vehicles and to transport light equipment used in vegetation management and flood control projects. Daily equipment operation may include a compactor, water truck, tree truck and chipper, dump truck, and wheel loader. Equipment is used to haul vegetative debris, maintain native plant mitigation sites, support invasive plant management efforts, and assist with Valley Water’s sandbag operations.

This position also ultimately requires a Qualified Applicator’s Certificate (QAC) in Category C (Right-of-Way) and Category F (Aquatics) to mix and apply herbicides and calibrate spray equipment for vegetation control on Valley Water managed properties.

• Prepare soil and install native plant revegetation per established plans; maintain mitigation areas to achieve success criteria and meet monitoring requirements. 
• Install, adjust, and repair irrigation systems, including heads, lines, and controllers.
• Operate a variety of small power tools and light equipment, including spray equipment, mowers, chain saws, weed eaters, pole saw, hydro seeder, small trenchers, loader, compactors, water trucks, forklift, straw mulcher, auger, sandbag machine, and chipper; clean, adjust, and perform minor maintenance on light equipment to ensure proper operating condition. 
• Mix and apply herbicides, and calibration of spray equipment to control the growth of vegetation on and around flood control and water distribution facilities and rights of way. 
• Build or remove browse cages or other devices to keep wildlife from damaging native plant revegetation sites. 
• Build phytosanitary benches, fences, irrigation, etc. in support of native plant holding facility. 
• Participate in Valley Water’s sandbag program as needed. 
• Perform calculations of required work materials; document daily application of chemical use; photo documentation of work, complete work order dailies, best management practices checklists, surveys, forms, and time data entries. Maintain paper and electronic records of work performed.

• Clear brush, weeds, and debris from worksites, canals, ponds, creeks, reservoirs, pipelines, water treatment plants, dams, and other open areas; prune vegetation, perform tree removals including standing or downed trees.
• Prepare soil and install native plant revegetation per established plans; maintain mitigation areas to achieve success criteria and meet monitoring requirements.
• Install, adjust, and repair irrigation systems, including heads, lines, and controllers.
• Operate a variety of small power tools and light equipment, including spray equipment, mowers, chain saws, weed eaters, pole saw, hydro seeder, small trenchers, loader, compactors, water trucks, forklift, straw mulcher, auger, sandbag machine, and chipper; clean, adjust, and perform minor maintenance on light equipment to ensure proper operating condition.
• Mix and apply herbicides, and calibration of spray equipment to control the growth of vegetation on and around flood protection and raw water distribution facilities and rights of way.
• Build or remove browse cages or other devices to keep wildlife from damaging native plant revegetation sites. Build phytosanitary benches, fences, irrigation, etc. in support of native plant holding facilities.
• Participate in Valley Water’s sandbag program as needed.
• Perform calculations of required work materials; document daily application of chemical use; photo documentation of work, complete work order dailies, best management practices checklists, surveys, forms, and time data entries. Maintain electronic records of work performed.
• Employees have a responsibility for safety; for following safety regulations and safety policies and procedures applicable to their work.
• Pursuant to California Government Code Section 3100, all public employees are required to serve as disaster service workers subject to such disaster service activities as may be assigned to them by their supervisors or by law.

Ideal Knowledge:

• Operations, services, and activities of integrated vegetation management. 
• Practices, procedures, tools, and equipment used in integrated vegetation management on raw water distribution and flood protection facilities.
• Use and application of a variety of herbicides for vegetation control and invasive plant management activities.
• Operation characteristics and maintenance requirements of irrigation systems.
• Principles, practices, and responsibilities involved in leading the work of assigned staff on native plant revegetation, invasive plant management, biotechnical erosion control, and vegetation control methods.
• International Society of Arboriculture ANSI pruning and safety standards. 
• Various plant diseases and pests.
• Cultural, biological, chemical, and mechanical methods for vegetation control activities. 
• Planting techniques and irrigation assembly and maintenance.
• Biotechnical erosion control techniques, including geotextile fabric installation, and hydroseeding.
• Integrated pest management strategies.
• Best management practices, including ground nesting survey techniques. 
• Principles and practices of horticulture, arboriculture, and soil restoration.

Ideal Training and Education:

Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. 

Required License or Certificate

Must have a satisfactory driving record and possess a valid California Class A driver's license with tanker endorsement at the time of hire.

Possession of a Qualified Applicator’s Certificate or Qualified Applicator License in Category C issued by the State of California’s Department of Pesticide Regulation at the time of hire.

Possession of a Qualified Applicator’s Certificate or Qualified Applicator License in Category F issued by the State of California’s Department of Pesticide Regulation within 6 months of hire.

Vegetation Field Operations Unit (Position Code 1059)
Valley Water Telework Program: Eligibility for telework will depend on the type of work performed, operational needs, and the ability for the employee to perform the essential functions of their job duties while teleworking. Employment with Valley Water requires employees to live within 150 miles of their primary physical work location located in San Jose, California by their start date.

 

This position requires the individual to be onsite and is typically not a teleworking position.

WORK SCHEDULE 

The Internship is for 11 weeks and can start as early as May 26, 2026, and end as late as September 30, 2026. This paid internship is offered at 32 hours per week. The official start and end date of the internship will be determined at the time of hire. Work hours are generally Monday – Thursday between 8:00am – 5:00pm. 

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO: 

• Assist Planning with Greenhouse Gas Reduction/Climate Action Plan, including research and community outreach
• Capture project photos for department’s year-end video 
• Create a housing portfolio of Below Market Rate (BMR) properties for office use 
• Support the Building Division by developing permit examples for website 
• Assist Fire Prevention with entering firework code cases and processing booth permits
• Research and collect data for Public Records Act (PRA) requests
