This role offers a dynamic 10-hour shift schedule, working 4 days a week, with rotations every four months. Shifts may include nights, weekends, and holidays.

Trainee's start with an annual salary of $53,545 ($25.74/hour), complemented by excellent benefits.

Your journey doesn't end with training! After successfully completing your program, you'll be promoted to Police Dispatcher, with a salary increase to $60,507/year ($29.09/hour). As you gain experience, your earnings can grow up to $77,209/year ($37.12/hour), including additional night shift pay and outstanding benefits. 

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:  Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. Additional specialized training in communications or a related field is desirable. 

Experience: Some emergency or non-emergency dispatch experience is desirable. 

License/Certificates: Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Terminal Operator Certificate within one year of employment. 

Special Requirements: Must be 18 years of age as of the date of hire; a United States citizen or meet citizenship requirements; and be of good moral character with no felony convictions.

Under general supervision, a Police Officer is responsible for the performance of law enforcement duties to protect life and property in accordance with applicable laws, to carry out special assignments as necessary, and other related duties as assigned. A wide variety of assignments are available which include Patrol, Traffic, Narcotics, Detectives, Off-Road and Surface Street Motorcycle Patrol, Bike Patrol, Special Weapons Team, Crisis Negotiation Team, Canine, Background Investigations, School Liaison, Gang Suppression, Special Enforcement Section and Intelligence.

This position participates in a 4/10 work schedule. Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements:

Candidates must have completed a California P.O.S.T. Certified Police Academy. Must be 21 years of age as of the appointment date, high school graduate or G.E.D., (as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education), and U.S. citizen or a permanent resident alien who is eligible and has applied for citizenship.

Out-of-State Candidates:

The California Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) will conduct an evaluation of all out-of-state training. POST is the sole authority on applicable training and determines whether the candidate must attend an abbreviated academy, or a regular police academy. If an academy is required, the candidate will be hired as a Police Officer Trainee. Upon completion of the academy, promotion will be made to Police Officer.

Selection Process:

All qualified applicants will be invited to appear before an Oral Appraisal Board. Applicants passing the Oral Board examination will be placed on the eligibility list based on their Oral Appraisal Board rankings. Prospective employees will be required to pass a physical agility examination and undergo a thorough background investigation including a medical, psychological, polygraph and drug/alcohol screening.

DEFINITION: 

Under supervision of the Teen Coordinator and Teen Director, provide supervision of teens as
well as be a positive role model and assist with activity planning and implementation. Program hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday from 3-6pm, Wednesdays from 2-6pm and Fridays from 3-5pm. Teen Director is required to work occasional evenings and weekends for special events. Approximately 15 hours per week with the potential for more hours.

While on duty, Teen Aide may be responsible for check-in and check-out of participants, oversee an in-house snack bar, and facilitate set-up of the Teen Zone game room (including setting up video games, ping pong table, quiet homework spaces, and more). Light cleaning duties will be expected.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Marinwood Fire Department operates as a single station all-risk Advanced Life Support (ALS) engine company that includes nine (9) professional firefighters trained in areas of firefighting, ALS/BLS emergency response, technical rescue, disaster response, fire prevention, and community preparedness.  The department works closely with the City of San Rafael Fire Department under an existing Shared Services Agreement.  This includes San Rafael Fire Department providing all chief officer services, ambulance services, and joint training programs.  Our mission is to partner with our community to proactively reduce risk from fire, illness, injury and other hazards.
