About the Position: The Supervising Ranger is a dynamic and impactful leadership role with broad responsibility, exercising sound judgement and meaningful independence, while overseeing patrol operations across Midpen preserves. The position leads and mentors a team of sworn district peace officers, coordinates emergency response efforts, builds positive relationships with the public and key stakeholders, represents the District at public meetings, and works collaboratively with departments throughout the organization.

Successful candidates are people-focused leaders who can inspire and guide staff in both day-to-day operations and critical incidents.  The role calls for clear and effective communication, the ability to work with tact and diplomacy, and a commitment to public safety and resource protection.  Responsibilities also include enforcing applicable laws and regulations; administering first aid, providing Emergency Medical Response as a first responder, operating emergency patrol vehicles and two-way radios; and supporting wildland fire suppression efforts  as needed. Assigned Location: Midpen is currently seeking to fill one Supervising Ranger position, reporting to an Area Superintendent. This assignment is scheduled to begin in July 2026, and will be based at the Foothills Field Office in Cupertino (Address: 501 Rancho San Antonio Drive, Cupertino, CA 95014). The District reserves the right to reassign employees to other locations as staffing and service requirements evolve.

Working Conditions: Work is performed in a combination of indoor and outdoor environments.  Outdoor work includes exposure to inclement weather conditions. This requires the ability to travel on foot, off trail, and in rugged terrain, and to perform all related emergency services, and maintenance work, throughout District lands. • Possession of a valid California Class C Driver License (or ability to obtain one upon appointment for candidates possessing an out of state license).

• Possession of a valid California Penal Code 832 certificate, for appointment as a peace officer.
• Possession of a certificate of completion, or ability to complete, the District’s Field Training Program.

• Possession of a valid Professional Rescuer Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.

The Energy Department is seeking to fill one (1) full-time Senior Regulatory Compliance & Policy Manager (Senior Power Resources Specialist) position for the Regulatory Compliance & Policy Division. This position reports directly to the Deputy Director of the Regulatory Compliance & Policy Division and will provide technical analysis, assess the potential business impacts to SJCE from proposed regulatory changes, and provide expert public representation.

Under general direction of the Deputy Director, the Senior Regulatory Compliance & Policy Manager will be responsible for engaging in the increasing number of complex electric regulatory proceedings and effectively advocating for the business interests of SJCE at the  California Public Utilities Commission (“CPUC”), the California Energy Commission (CEC), and California Independent System Operator (“CAISO”) to protect and advance San José business and community interests. Typical duties of this position may include, but are not limited to:

• Monitoring and advising internal staff about the progress of regulatory policy and rate-related proceedings
• Performing independent analysis of the possible operational impacts of rate cases and regulatory proceedings
• Representing SJCE before regulatory bodies and on external working groups
• Keeping abreast of key regulatory issues affecting CCAs, and assisting in prioritizing proceedings
• Developing formal written comments to regulatory agencies and advising on advocacy strategy

The Department: 

The City of Santa Clara is looking to fill multiple As-Needed- Temporary Employee positions to support the Annual Cleanup Campaign. Successful incumbents will be assigned to work as ground crews shoving, sweeping, and lifting up to 50lbs of debris left by Santa Clara residents.

The Position: 

In this temporary employment opportunity, you will gain valuable experience working with the public and demonstrate teamwork amongst your peers as you become part of a dedicated crew.

A mandatory paid orientation is tentatively scheduled for April, 2026, where employees will receive training, safety boots, and the necessary equipment to perform the job. This position will work from 6:45am-4:15pm, 40-45 hours a week, Monday-Friday between April 27, 2026 - May 22, 2026. 

As an as-needed employee, this is an "at-will" position and there is no guarantee of hours. Hours are limited to 999 in a fiscal year or 960 hours in a fiscal year for retired CalPERS annuitants.

About the Position:

The Ranger Recruit is a trainee-level position for individuals who do not possess a Ranger Academy certificate or equivalent, or valid PC 832 certificate.  Upon commencement of employment, new Ranger Recruits will participate in pre-academy instruction on the duties of a District Ranger, receive orientation to District lands and operations and complete additional required training.  Upon completion of pre-academy instruction, new Ranger Recruits will participate in a district approved Park Ranger Law Enforcement Academy based out of the South Bay Regional Training Center in San Jose, CA located on Bailey Avenue with the nearest cross street on Santa Teresa Avenue.  The 14-week long academy begins in January 2027 and will include the California Penal Code 832 training.  Upon successful completion of the academy and the District’s required robust 12-week Field Training program and final review by the Chief Ranger, a Ranger Recruit may be appointed as a probationary Ranger.   

The Ranger is a challenging and adventurous journey level position offering a wide variety of responsibilities and opportunities to exercise independent judgement while working on Midpen preserves.   

What does a District Ranger do?  District Rangers are Generalist Rangers who perform a wide variety of functions. A brief list of day-to-day activities follows:

• Midpen Rangers are sworn peace officers responsible for patrolling District Preserves and enforcing the District's regulations and pertinent local, State, and Federal laws on District Preserves. Patrol may be by 4x4 truck, foot, UTV, motorcycle, or mountain bike.  
• Respond to medical emergencies, wildland fires and search and rescue incidents.
• Help maintain the preserves by performing light maintenance tasks and resource management assignments.
• Engage the public through interpretive activities and community outreach.
• Shift schedules include evening, weekend, and holiday hours.

Positions will be assigned to one of the following District offices:

Certificates and Licenses: A valid California driver’s license; Possession of or ability to obtain the following certificates prior to completion of the employment probationary period: valid professional rescuer CPR certificate and Medical First Responder or equivalent; a Midpen approved Fire Suppression Training certificate; certification in the Incident Command System courses as specified under the National Incident Management System (NIMS).

Education & Experience: Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Ranger Recruit

Ranger

• Meet all qualifications for Ranger Recruit, plus:
• Certificates and Licenses:  Current possession of a District approved Law Enforcement Training certification and a valid California 832 certificate for appointment as a peace officer, and ability to obtain the following certificates prior to completion of the employment probationary period: completion of the District’s Field Training Program, valid professional rescuer CPR certificate and Medical First Responder or equivalent; a Midpen approved Fire Suppression Training certificate; certification in the Incident Command System courses as specified under the National Incident Management System (NIMS).

Working Conditions:  Rangers work cohesively with local law enforcement, fire agencies and other adjoining land agencies. Rangers typically work alone and self initiate their day-to-day patrols. Work conditions require rangers to work weekends, nights, and holidays in all weather conditions.  Most work is outdoors within Midpen’s open space lands with exposure to inclement weather conditions. This requires the ability to patrol on foot, off trail, and in rugged terrain.  Also requires the ability to perform all related emergency services and light maintenance and construction work on Midpen lands. District Rangers interact daily with a diverse Bay Area community to provide safe access for all visitors.

Attending a practice session is strongly recommended, as it allows potential candidates to gauge their ability to pass the physical agility test by the end of the academy.

About the Position:  The Planner III focuses on a wide variety of planning and capital improvement projects that include long-range planning; land use planning; site design; and environmental review to increase public access, outdoor recreation, and enjoyment of Midpen’s lands. The Planner III is tasked with performing complex professional level planning, analysis, and design; developing and administering project scopes, schedules and budgets; analyzing project risks and environmental issues related to public access and natural and cultural resources; directing the feasibility and early design phase of capital improvement projects that include trails, trailhead staging/parking areas and staff facilities; developing recommendations for land use policies; preparing long-range plans to guide the use and management of Midpen lands; conducting public outreach and engagement; preparing requests for proposals; assisting in development of grant applications; preparing environmental review documents; and obtaining planning permits and initial approvals for projects. The Planner III also provides project presentations to senior management, the Board of Directors, and Committees, and at public meetings, that may be held in the evenings and weekends. The Planner III also oversees and participates in the work of junior staff and has experience providing a high level of customer service with the public, vendors, contractors, and Midpen staff.

Work Environment:  This position is part of the Planning Department at Midpen’s office in Los Altos, California.  The Planner III will be expected to be available to provide project presentations in the evenings and sometimes on weekends. In addition to working in the office, the Planner III will sometimes work in the field and hike through steep terrain and wildland areas.  Field work will require driving in remote areas on dirt roads, working in temperatures ranging from cold and blustery to hot and dry. The Department of Public Works (DPW) constructs, maintains and improves various components of the City’s infrastructure and provides quality, cost-effective, timely services to the residents and businesses of Santa Clara. Position Duties

Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Transportation, the Information Technology (IT) Manager will plan, lead, manage, and execute the technology and innovation efforts of DOT.

The DOT Information Technology (IT) Manager will refine and manage the DOT information technology roadmap, which fuses departmental priorities and opportunities with technology and resource needs. The business plan includes coordination with the IT Department to assess centralized capabilities and opportunities for partnership and advancement of key strategies and systems. Some of the top priorities include:

Implementing innovative field technology improvements and integrated data systems – With the transportation and utility infrastructure spread across 178 square miles of the City, most of the Department’s work, particularly maintenance of the infrastructure, occurs in the field. With
the growth of advanced technologies like the Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) the City has an opportunity to strategically deploy innovations that could save time and resources, as well as improve response times. The IT Manager will work with the IT Department, the City Manager’s Office, and other City Departments to lead the assessment of existing processes and systems to identify, develop, and implement automated workflows to improve efficiency and productivity.

Automating, updating, and supporting multiple IT Systems – DOT has a number of important IT needs and coordination efforts that are identified and prioritized in the DOT IT Business Plan. These projects include the maintenance and development of feature request applications in our Salesforce Work Order platform, updates to the Geographic Information System (GIS), and upgrades of various administrative and engineering databases.

Coordinating Civic Innovation – The DOT IT Manager will also play a lead role in planning and implementing DOT’s Civic Innovation Projects. The transportation industry is dramatically changing around us with the emergence of Automated Vehicles, highly advanced traffic signal management systems, and complex data reporting and analytics capabilities. In alignment with the San Jose’s technology vision and in coordination with the Mayor’s and City Manager’s Office, the DOT IT Manager will build upon current momentum to make San Jose one of the most innovative cities. The IT Manager supervises and/or coordinates staff in the Information Systems Analyst, Senior Geographic Systems Specialist, Systems Applications Programmer, Network Engineer, Innovation Program Manager, and Network Technician classifications.

Key General Responsibilities:

• Develops, coordinates, guides, and maintains IT system strategic and tactical plans in support of the department’s overall direction and within the framework of Citywide IT protocols and standards.
• Plans, implements, and manages the department’s information technology operations ensuring efficient utilization of resources.
• Collaborates and coordinates with IT and other departmental stakeholders to assess centralized capabilities, opportunities for partnership, and advancement of key strategies in a way that maximizes the interoperability of systems between DOT and other departments.
• Utilizes in-depth technical knowledge and business requirements to design and implement technology solutions.
• Analyzes complex business needs and recommends technical solutions.
• Ensures technology projects and systems are adequately resourced with the appropriate levels of technology staff and line staff.

• Negotiates and administers contracts and agreements with vendors and agencies.

Minimum Qualifications

Education
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with coursework in computer science, information systems, business administration, or closely related field

Experience
Five (5) years of experience managing, maintaining, and implementing technology programs, computer system infrastructure and design, network operations, security design, application development and configurations, and system/server administration, including three (3) years of supervisory experience over a technical team.

Certifications/Licenses
One or more credentials in Salesforce is desired, preferably certification as a Salesforce Administrator and/or Developer.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The approved salary range for this position goes up to $183,248. Employees in the Department Information Technology (IT) Manager classification will also receive an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable pay.

 Additional steps (Step F, Step G, and Step H) included in the salary range listed above are available to employees in this job classification after completion of five years of service (Step F), ten years of service (Step G), and 15 years of service (Step H), and one year at the prior step, and good performance evaluation. Initial salary placement is typically at the entry point of the range unless the candidate has prior Code Enforcement Officer experience which may warrant initial placement at a higher step.

Due to the nature of this position, a varied work schedule that includes evening and/or weekend hours is required. This is a full-time, on-site position, designed for direct collaboration with the team and active participation in daily operations.

ABOUT THE POSITION
The City of Gilroy is recruiting to fill the limited-term position of Code Enforcement in the Community Development Department, Building Division. 

In this exciting opportunity, the Code Enforcement Officer will work under the supervision of the Supervising Code Enforcement Officer and will serve as a frontline ambassador for city standards, working directly with residents, businesses, and property owners to ensure compliance with local codes and ordinances. This role is offered on a limited-term basis and is currently budgeted through June 30, 2027.  It is possible that the position will be extended beyond this date, but that will not be known until the Spring of 2027.  This position offers a meaningful opportunity to help uphold community standards and ensure compliant neighborhoods. The Code Enforcement Officer will respond to citizen concerns and proactively identify violations such as property maintenance issues, and zoning infractions. You will educate the public on code requirements through clear and respectful communication and work collaboratively with other city departments and external agencies to resolve issues. The Code Enforcement Officer is distinguished from the Supervisor by performing work of moderate difficulty and more routine tasks and duties assigned to this position within this classification series. These tasks involve inspections and enforcement of applicable ordinances pertaining to residential and commercial properties, housing, building construction, and other related regulations. Additionally, the Code Enforcement Officer will issue notices, citations, and follow up on compliance efforts in a fair and consistent manner. It is also imperative that the Code Enforcement Officer maintain accurate case files and documentation for possible legal proceedings.

• Participate in specialized training and obtain certifications to enhance your expertise and knowledge of code enforcement.
