GENERAL INFO  

Under general supervision, the Recreation Leader I/II positions provide essential support to recreation programs and services by performing custodial tasks, event setup and teardown, program and administration support, and minor maintenance duties at various facilities, including parks and community centers. This temporary, part-time position requires working an average of 10 to 20 hours per week, but no more than 999 hours per fiscal year total. The roles involve ensuring the facilities are clean, safe, and operational while delivering excellent customer service. Performs other duties as assigned. 

UNIVERSAL POSITION DUTIES (Illustrative purposes only)  

• Organize, inventory, and maintain facility materials and equipment.  
• Supervise teams/groups of other program staff or volunteers under the direction of Supervisor.  
• Assist in organizing and supervising recreational programs in any one or more of the following areas: children, adults, senior citizens, and participants with special needs at playgrounds, community centers, and other recreational areas.  
• Open, close, and secure facilities, including locking gates and setting alarms.  
• Set up and tear down tables, chairs, and equipment according to event/program requirements.

SERVICE DESK (Illustrative purposes only)  

• Greet patrons, answer and direct calls, and provide information on programs, services, schedules, rules, and policies.  
• Open/close the facility and monitor for safety, cleanliness, and proper use.  
• Check daily facility schedules, program and services setup requirements.  
• Use computer systems for data entry and registrations.  
• Assist patrons with registration processing and POS transactions.  
• Handle office tasks including deliveries, organization, mail distribution, and information sharing.  
• Support office inventory management for supplies and equipment.

• Assist facility attendants and support programs, services, and events as needed.

FACILITY ATTENDANT (Illustrative purposes only)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS  

Education and Experience

• Two years of customer service or service in the recreation industry experience preferred 

Skills and Abilities  

• Facility operations, customer service, basic event/program management, and safety practices.  
• Ability to use custodial and operational equipment, communicate effectively, and work independently.  

Special Requirements  

• Ability to obtain a current First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.  
• Ability to obtain a current California Food Handler Card.  
• Ability to obtain a current Driver’s License and clean driving record is preferred.  

Tools and Equipment Used  

• Various hand tools and cleaning equipment used in the operation and maintenance of a recreation or community center facility.

DEFINITION Under general supervision or direction of the Director of Water and Wastewater Resources or the Director’s authorized personnel, develops, monitors, conducts, and administers the Department’s occupational health and safety and environmental programs and Water/Wastewater industrial training program in compliance with federal, state, and local safety, health, and environmental regulations, as well as industry standards; develops, implements and administers  safety and training policies, procedures and directives; evaluates effectiveness of safety and training programs, implements new programs and procedures as needed; assists in the administration of the risk management program; acts as the Department’s Safety Officer; and performs other duties as assigned.

Develop safety training and industrial training plans for new employees. Conducts and monitors Department facility and site inspections, job hazards analyses and other evaluations to identify hazards and potential risks; makes recommendations to assigned supervisor and implements appropriate and approved corrective actions for compliance with Federal, State, and local safety, health, and environmental regulations, as well as industry standards. Conducts audits of corrective action to ensure compliance with regulations and corrective actions. Develops and maintains the Department’s Injury and Illness Prevention Program, Safety Manual, and Training Program. Performs related report preparation and record maintenance for Environmental Protection, Fire Protection, Hazardous Waste Management, and Occupational Safety. Develops and maintains Department’s hazardous material business plans (HMBP) and petroleum storage tank permitting in compliance with Environmental and local Fire Department Regulations. Maintains and updates the Department’s Safety Data Sheet (SDS) database. Conducts thorough audits, investigations and analysis of accidents, incidents and injuries; develops findings, prepares reports, and makes recommendations to assigned supervisor of corrective actions and preventative measures; assesses incident statistics to determine requirements for new or modified training. Maintains a library of reference materials on training records and coordinates the acquisition of training materials, including manuals, technical resources, videos, recordings, and self-instruction workbooks. Coordinates necessary safety certification and license obtainment and renewal for Department employees. Develops and administers contractor safety program, including reviewing contractor health and safety work plans for Department projects, serving as the Department’s subject matter expert, and working with vendors and consultants for matters related to safety compliance, and providing contractors with appropriate hazardous materials communication in compliance with applicable regulations. Builds and maintains positive working relationships with co-workers, other City employees, and the public: performs other duties as assigned.

Education: Graduation from High School or equivalent. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree majoring in industrial engineering, safety engineering, occupational health, or closely related field desirable.

Experience: Three (3) years of experience in the areas of workplace safety and employee training, including at least one (1) year of which involved administration of a comprehensive safety and accident prevention program. Five (5) years of experience in the areas of workplace safety and employee training, including at least three (3) years of which have involved administration of a comprehensive safety and accident prevention program desirable.

License/Certification: Possession of a valid Class C California Driver's License; possession of a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiac Care Provider certificate and First Aid certificate or the ability to obtain one within 12 months of appointment.

The following certifications are highly desirable:

• Certification by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and an Associate Risk Manager (ARM)
• Certification by the State Water Resources Control Board in Water Treatment, Water Distribution, or Wastewater Treatment
• Certification by the California Water Environment Association in Mechanical Maintenance, Electrical/Instrumentation, or Environmental Compliance Inspection
  Physical Requirements: Moderate and sometimes strenuous exertion required, including sustained walking, standing, bending, kneeling, climbing, lifting and carrying. May have to work on ladders, in tunnels and confined spaces, hazardous atmospheres and in protective garments. Performs a variety of unskilled or semi-skilled maintenance work, and operates a variety of equipment in the construction, operation, repair, maintenance and replacement of Town water, sewer, street and storm drainage facilities and systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Typical duties include but are not limited to:
•    Perform required labor involved in construction and maintenance projects as part of a crew, including pavement cutting, ditch digging, manhole and line cleaning, main and pipe repair, laying and backfilling.

The Town of Hillsborough is seeking highly motivated, positive, and people-oriented candidates for part-time per diem Communications Officer positions in the Police Department. Shift coverage is needed on daytime and overnight shifts. CLASS CHARACTERISTICS

Communications Officer II

This classification has primary responsibility for staffing the Town’s public safety dispatch communication center. Under most circumstances, the training and experience for this position would occur by having prior experience working for another police department as a Communications Officer for a period of at least two years.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Communications Officer II typically performs, but is not limited to, the duties noted below on a regular basis:

• Receives and handles incoming telephone and voice radio calls for police, fire, ambulance, and public works

• Secures and records information as to exact locations and circumstances using radio or other equipment to dispatch appropriate units to the emergency scene.

• Maintains radio contact with local units on assignment and directs and coordinates with staff from other agencies on a mutual-aid basis, as needed.

• Operates a multi-channel two-way radio, telephones, teletype, office equipment and software systems.

• Performs numerous duties simultaneously.

• Prioritizes calls for service as well as other work-related tasks such as assisting with schedule, monitoring email account or assisting with social media.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Education:

Graduation from or enrollment in a POST accredited Dispatch Academy.

Experience:
Two or more year(s) of experience as a Public Safety Dispatcher in California in the past five years.

License or Certificate:

Must possess and maintain a valid California Class C driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record.

Essential duties require the following physical skills and work environment:

This Internship is offered as part of a Regional Internship Partnership to introduce and encourage current students and new graduates to local municipal governments. Job Description:  

The Administrative Services Department has a rewarding full-time, 40 hours per week, non-benefited summer internship opportunity to begin in June of 2026. The main function of the job is to perform municipal research and analytical work on an entry level professional basis.

The workload will be a balance of assisting in daily municipal operations and special projects. Duties may include, but are not limited to town-wide capital inventory, risk management, citizens’ requests, record management, benchmarking, policy analysis and research. The position will serve as a regular staff member, and will receive assignments and work direction from the Administrative Services Director. The primary goal of the internship program is to provide a recent graduate an opportunity to apply their academic training in a municipal government setting. This paid internship provides hands-on experience in the daily operations of municipal government on all levels, thus enhancing the intern’s skills and résumé for a future profession in government.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in public administration or related fields, or expected college graduation in Summer 2026 or 2027; completion of some course work for a master’s degree in public or business administration, political science, planning or a closely related field in desired;
• Knowledge of principles and practices of organization and public administration;
• Interest in local government;
• Strong oral & written communication skills;
• High level of computer skills;

WOODLAND COMMUNITY COLLEGE HOST SITE
Woodland Community College is partnering with the City of Woodland to host two fellows as part of this year’s Civic Fellowship Program. The fellows will work on-stie at WCC and receive day-to-day guidance and supervision from WCC staff while remaining part of the fellowship cohort and participating in program-wide activities.

This posting is for the Community College Education Policy & Programs Coordinator within the Office of the President at Woodland Community College.

Typical work hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday; and 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Friday, up to 40 hours per week.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Community College Education Policy and Programs Coordinator will support the implementation of Woodland Community College’s new Strategic Plan, with a focus on capacity building, student success, and socioeconomic mobility.

Housed within the Student Services Department, the Coordinator will advance strategic initiatives designed to strengthen student support systems, improve program coordination, and enhance outcomes for disproportionately impacted student populations.

The Fellow will work on a portfolio of projects and related events that may include:

• Analyzing student services data (retention, persistence, completion, utilization of support programs) to identify equity gaps and opportunities for improvement

• Research best practices related to student support programs (e.g., advising, basic needs, financial aid outreach, career services, transfer services)

• Supporting cross-departmental coordination efforts to align student services with strategic plan priorities

• Assisting in the design and implementation of new or redesigned initiatives that promote student success and socioeconomic mobility

• Supporting strategic plan events, stakeholder engagement efforts, and community partnerships

• Develop reports, presentations, training materials, and guides to support students

• Documenting processes and building tools to strengthen institutional capacity within Student Services

A key focus of the role will be translating strategic goals into actionable program improvements that enhance student access, persistence, completion, and post-college outcomes.
