The City of Lincoln is hiring for the position of Office Assistant II within the Public Works Department—be part of a team dedicated to serving our community every day!

DEFINITION

This position works under general supervision and performs routine tasks and duties assigned to classes within the Office Assistant series by providing office, secretarial and administrative support to management staff and other staff as needed; assists callers and visitors by supplying information personally or directing information requests according to established procedures; sorts, logs and maintains records and other documents; interprets and applies policies, procedures and work methods associated with assigned duties; performs other related duties as required. 

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

The Office Assistant II is the full working level position in the office support series in which incumbents are expected to independently perform the full scope of assigned duties. Incumbents perform a full range of office and administrative support duties including lead responsibilities over Office Assistants I, organization and coordination of work load, maintenance of a calendar and scheduling appointments, preparation of reports, agenda materials, resolutions and ordinances. This classification is distinguished from the next lower classification of Office Assistant I by the greater complexity of assignments and higher degree of independent action. 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED/EXERCISED

Receives general supervision from administrative and/or management staff. May exercise functional and technical supervision. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Include but are not limited to the following)

• Performs the duties assigned to classes in the Office Assistant series including organizing and coordinating work; sets priorities and meets deadlines; performs a variety of office administrative tasks such as purchasing requisitions, ordering materials and supplies, monitoring supply budgets, and keeping current reference materials and files.
• Types drafts and a wide variety of finished documents from recording devices, notes, brief written or oral instructions; compiles and maintains records and prepares reports; prepares agenda materials, draft reports, resolutions and ordinances; inputs, retrieves and references various computer data management systems such as financial and/or budget systems; attends meetings and records and transcribes minutes.
• Performs specialized and/or confidential records maintenance and retention functions; scans and enters documents to database; maintains and retrieves records and documents; posts and distributes public notices; assists with the compilation of various city agenda packets.
• Makes appointments and maintains a calendar; maintains tickler file; schedules and arranges meetings and makes travel arrangements; organizes meetings by notifying participants, making room arrangements, and preparing required informational materials; sorts and distributes mail received by departmental staff.
• Provides follow-up and research information on inquiries and problems which require knowledge of services and programs of the City; resolves problems and responds to special assignments which require interdepartmental or staff communications; responds to questions and concerns from the general public; provides information as is appropriate and resolves complaints.
• Receives and processes fees, enrollment charges, fines or other money; prepares receipts and balances money received; prepares rental agreements and reviews for completeness.
• Maintains petty cash, daily cash and daily revenue records; performs a variety of general accounting operations including, receivables and bank deposits; processes purchase orders and checks incoming orders.
• Maintains office equipment and facilities; requests and follows up on building maintenance and custodial services; operates and performs routine preventative maintenance on office machines including data/word processors, copiers, field dispatch equipment etc.
• Receives incoming telephone and may receive voice radio calls; secures and records information and uses radio to dispatch necessary City services.
• Demonstrates understanding of applicable policies, procedures and work methods associated with assigned duties.
• Establishes positive working relationships with representatives of community organizations, state/local agencies, City management and staff, and the public. 

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting and stooping in the performance of daily activities. The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement and fine coordination in preparing reports using a computer keyboard. Additionally, the position requires near and far vision in reading written reports and work-related documents. Acute hearing is required when providing phone and personal service. The need to lift, drag and push files, paper and documents weighing up to 25 pounds also is required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: (The following are a representative sample of the KSA's necessary to perform essential duties of the position.)

About the Position:  The Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District (Midpen) Seasonal Ranger Aide is an entry-level position, which provides the opportunity to learn and perform some duties of a ranger under the guidance of experienced ranger staff.  Ranger Aides provide visitor information and assistance, travelling by non-emergency Midpen vehicles and on foot throughout an assigned geographical region. Ranger Aides perform a variety of customer service duties such as educating and informing the public about Midpen land use regulations, public relations and provide general information services, but do not have law enforcement authority.  Ranger Aides will assist with routine maintenance work on Midpen land and facilities and may respond to assist with emergency calls. Schedules:  This is a full-time position. Employees are expected to work full-time (40 hours during the work week); however, school schedules may be accommodated around regular days/hours of operations.  Weekend work (Sat/Sun) is required, with two consistent days off each week (either Mondays/Tuesdays off OR Thursdays/Fridays off), depending on the field office operational needs. Incumbents will work an 8-hour workday (plus a 30-minute unpaid meal break). Daily start and end times will be the same for most workdays, typically scheduled within the range of 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  Must be willing to work weekends, nights, holidays, or extended shifts and work with exposure to difficult circumstances, including exposure to challenging situations and upset individuals. Seasonal assignments will not exceed 950 hours or 7 months, whichever comes first, and do not include benefits.

Working Conditions: Most work is outdoors within Midpen’s open space lands with exposure to inclement weather conditions. This requires the ability to patrol on foot, off trail, and in rugged terrain.  Also requires the ability to perform related emergency services and maintenance and construction work on Midpen lands. ABOUT THE POSITION
City of Gilroy is currently recruiting for a full-time Senior Maintenance Worker position assigned to the Wastewater section within the Utilities Department, Operations Division. 
Wastewater section personnel are responsible for the wastewater collection system including inspecting, cleaning, maintaining, constructing, and repairing sanitary sewer lines and lift stations. Under direct supervision of the Operations Services Supervisor, this position performs and supervises maintenance work within the Wastewater section and acts for the supervisor in his/her absence or direction.

Overview:

Under general supervision, this role assists in the planning, design, and validation studies of the advanced water treatment facility (AWTF) and the distribution of product water. Key responsibilities encompass the development of water quality testing plans, validation of treatment processes, provision of technical support for design, piloting, operational planning, monitoring plans, ensuring regulatory compliance with DPR regulations, managing Reverse Osmosis Concentrate, and aiding in the integration of purified water into the current water supply and distribution system.

The Associate Engineer additionally acts as a technical liaison for the Water Supply Outreach team-evaluating outreach materials for precision and conducting tours of the Silicon Valley Advanced Water Purification Center for stakeholders and community organizations. The incumbent would also assist the R&PW Unit in its ongoing collaboration with the District Financial Planning & Management Services Division regarding State and Federal grant and loan applications. In addition, the incumbent would assist in the development of agreements for the PWSV. This position is essential for the implementation of the Pure Water project and ensuring that Valley Water achieves its long-term recycled water objectives while securing community backing and regulatory consent.

• Support the R&PW Unit in its continued coordination with the District Financial Planning & Management Services Division on State and Federal Grant and Loan applications.

• Experience in preparing long-range planning studies, technical presentations, engineering cost analysis/reports, technical memorandums, master plans, and feasibility studies.
• Experience reviewing and contributing to engineering design documents, construction submittals, RFIs, and change orders.

• Lead a technical engineering group/project.
• Facilitate meetings with internal and external stakeholders and reach a consensus.

This role is offered on a limited-term basis and is currently budgeted through June 30, 2027.  It is possible that the position will be extended beyond this date, but that will not be known until the Spring of 2027.  This position offers a meaningful opportunity to help uphold community standards and ensure compliant neighborhoods. The Code Enforcement Officer will respond to citizen concerns and proactively identify violations such as property maintenance issues, and zoning infractions. You will educate the public on code requirements through clear and respectful communication and work collaboratively with other city departments and external agencies to resolve issues. The Code Enforcement Officer is distinguished from the Supervisor by performing work of moderate difficulty and more routine tasks and duties assigned to this position within this classification series. These tasks involve inspections and enforcement of applicable ordinances pertaining to residential and commercial properties, housing, building construction, and other related regulations. Additionally, the Code Enforcement Officer will issue notices, citations, and follow up on compliance efforts in a fair and consistent manner. It is also imperative that the Code Enforcement Officer maintain accurate case files and documentation for possible legal proceedings.

To perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the construction, maintenance, and repair of water lines, sewers, storm drains, and pump stations.  The purpose of this recruitment is to fill multiple vacancies in the Sanitary Sewer/Storm Drainage Systems Division, as well as establish an eligibility list for future vacancies.  Initial position and salary of the selected candidate will be based on previous work experience and valid licenses/certificates. 

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The City of Woodland is looking to fill a Utilities Maintenance Worker I/II position in the Public Works Water Distribution Division.  The Ideal Candidate is someone who has a good understanding of all aspects of underground water distribution maintenance and repairs and is familiar with the operation of light and heavy equipment.  This position requires a “team player” with good interpersonal, time management, and communication skills.  Candidate must be able to follow directions and display good judgment, as well as be organized, flexible, approachable, resourceful, and a positive team contributor.  Current and valid distribution certifications and Class A/B commercial driver’s license are highly desirable.

Utilities Maintenance Worker I:

This is the entry level class in the Utilities Maintenance Worker series.  The Utilities Maintenance Worker I may often perform many of the duties required of Utilities Maintenance Workers II but is not expected to have the depth of experience, skill level and certifications of the Utilities Maintenance Worker II. As a result, the Utilities Maintenance Worker I will have fewer opportunities to exercise independent discretion and judgment on matters related to work procedures and methods.

Utilities Maintenance Worker II:

This is the Journey level in the Utilities Maintenance Worker series. This class differs from Utilities Maintenance Worker I in that incumbents perform more complex maintenance duties including working independently, exercising judgment, and operating the full range of tools and mechanical equipment related to a specific assignment.  The Utilities Maintenance Worker II may also be expected to assist in the oversight and training of less experienced personnel. Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the I level, or by candidates with prior work experience elsewhere.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 

The following are typical illustrations of duties encompassed by the job class; this is not an all-inclusive or limiting list:

Operate a variety of light and moderately heavy construction and maintenance equipment such as a loader, dump truck, water truck, steel rollers, High Velocity Vacuum Cleaner, mole trencher, and rubber-tired tractor with all attachments; Operate a forklift as assigned and trained; Perform general maintenance and repair on water distribution and/or storm and wastewater collection facilities including (but not limited to) installation, testing, and backfill of service laterals;

Assist in water tap installations; Install, remove, and repair water meters, hydrants, service valves, and mainline valves;

Operate equipment and vehicles with possession of all necessary licenses and certificates; Take meter and gauge readings; Accurately maintain records and reports; Utilize proper safety precautions related to all performed work; Comply with the policies and procedures in the department Injury & Illness Prevention Program (IIPP); Regular, predictable, consistent and timely attendance is an essential function of the position, in that the employee must be present to work on facilities and equipment impacting on the public’s health and safety. 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

Respond to inquires from the general public. Prepare as built sketches, when required to convey information to engineering for graphic documentation. Check water meters for proper operation; troubleshoot registers and repair. Initiate and discontinue water service to customer accounts as directed. Operate telemetering and flow monitoring equipment. Work cooperatively with others. Perform related duties as assigned. Both Assignments will require employees to be “On Call” as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Utilities Maintenance Worker I

Education: 

• Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent. 

Experience:

• Requires at least one (1) year of experience in construction or related field.

License and Certificate: 

• Possession of a California State Drinking Water Operator Certification Program (DWOCP) Grade I Water Distribution Operator (D1) upon permanent employment

• Possession of a valid California Driver's License
• Class B Driver’s permit and DMV Medical Certification are required within three (3) months of hire

Prior to Permanent Appointment Employee Must Obtain:

• Valid Class B Driver's License with Tank and Air Brake Endorsement
• Work Zone Safety certification issued by the International Municipal Signal Association
• First Aid and CPR certifications
• Competent Person certification
• Confined Space certification

Utilities Maintenance Worker II

Education: 

• Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent. 
• Courses in, or graduation from, the American Public Works Association’s Public Works Institute is desirable.

Experience: 

• Requires at least one (1) year of experience performing duties comparable to those of a Utilities Maintenance Worker I.

License and Certificate:

• Requires possession of a DWOCP Grade II Water Distribution Operator (D2) certificate upon hire.
