San Mateo County Health - San Mateo Medical Center and its outpatient clinics are seeking experienced Certified Medical Assistants - Spanish Speaking Preferred to join our care teams. Under direct supervision of licensed staff, Certified Medical Assistants (CMAs) perform a variety of patient care and other services required to treat patients in a health services outpatient or mobile clinic.

Extra Help - Extra-help positions are short-term employment for up to 1040 hours which is equivalent to about six months; however, employment might end sooner depending on the needs of the hiring departments. Extra-help assignments are at-will and the employee is paid on an hourly basis. Some extra help positions are eligible for benefits under the Affordable Care Act. Extra-help workers are not guaranteed permanent status at the end of the extra-help assignment.

Term - Term positions are designated for a specific and limited period of time, anywhere from 6 months to a maximum of 3 years depending on the assignment. Benefits package for term positions are similar to regular positions EXCEPT for retirement. Term employees receive a 401A retirement package and are not eligible for retiree health benefits or a defined benefit pension.

Unclassified - Unclassified positions are at-will for a limited duration, typically associated with grant or other special funding. These positions are not covered by San Mateo County Civil Service Rules; and there is no formal probation period. The following are the same for classified and unclassified positions: salary, increases and other forms of compensation; accrual of sick leave, vacation, overtime, holiday and leaves of absence; health, dental, vision, long & short term disability, and retirement.

Medical Services Assistants II who are assigned to the clinics and perform advanced patient care duties as defined in the classification specification shall receive a differential of 6.2% in addition to all other compensation.
 

Examples Of Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Accurately take and record the condition, respiration, pulse, temperature and blood pressure of patients; record other pertinent information as observed or measured.
• Apply non-sterile dressings and administer non-medicated treatments under the supervision of a registered nurse, licensed physician, surgeon, podiatrist, nurse practitioner or physician assistant.

Qualifications

Certification Requirement:
Possession of a Medical Assistant Certificate or a certificate of completion or degree from an accredited medical assisting program is required. A certificate of completion of an approved medical assisting program must be submitted at the time of application.

Bilingual Fluency:
Some positions may require bilingual skills. Fluency in both English and Spanish is required to be considered for a bilingual position.

Education and Experience:
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to qualify is:

One year of experience in an outpatient clinic or doctor's office as a nurse's assistant or medical assistant.

THE POSITION

The current opening is for a per diem position and is under the direction of the Police Dispatcher/Records Supervisor.  The Police Dispatcher/Clerk is a non-sworn technical and complex clerical support classification associated with law enforcement support services assigned in the Town Police Department.  Police Dispatcher/Clerks learn and perform a variety of responsible records management, communications and dispatching duties for emergency and non-emergency calls for service.

THE ORGANIZATION

The City of Pacifica is a General Law City incorporated in 1957 and operates under the Council/Manager form of government. THE DEPARTMENT

The Community Development Department provides timely, public-facing, and internal services related to the review of applications for development and building permits, as well as code enforcement of the City’s development regulations and other laws of the City. The Department has primary responsibility for the maintenance and implementation of the City’s General Plan, Local Coastal Program, Zoning Regulations, and Building Code, as well as environmental review of City and private development projects in accordance with CEQA regulations. The Department provides staff support to the City’s Planning Commission, Open Space and Parkland Advisory Committee, and Climate Action Adaptation Committee.

With the recent completion of Plan Pacifica – a comprehensive multi-year effort that updated the General Plan and Housing Element, Sharp Park Specific Plan, Local Coastal Land Use Plan, and Climate Action and Resilience Plan – the department is focusing on implementation and modernization.

The Community Development Department is staffed by 14 full-time staff, along with the support of outside consulting agencies as required. The Department is organized into three divisions: Planning, Building, and Code Enforcement, and prides itself on providing a high level of services with a lean but talented team.

THE POSITION

The Deputy Director of Community Development is a full-time, high-level management position that requires significant administrative, analytical, and technical skills. This position assists in the strategic planning, organization, and management of the department. This position will plan, organize, and manage the activities and operations of the Department; coordinate assigned activities with other departments, divisions, and outside agency; and provide highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Director. This position serves as the City Planner and may function as the Director in their absence or as assigned.

The Library Aide performs various routine and repetitive tasks relating to the maintenance of the library collection. Library Aides may process materials returned from circulation, including checking in the daily delivery on the computer system and moving boxes of books and other materials. May be asked to back up Circulation staff and assist in a variety of special projects and services as needed. Library Aides work in all divisions of the Library, including Circulation, Children's, Technical Services, Reference and the Easton Branch.

SALARY & BENEFITS:

The salary range for this position is $18.60-$25.14 per hour. This position is a temporary, part-time position and part of   Healthy Workplaces/Healthy Families Act: California Paid Sick Leave Benefit, as amended effective 1/1/2024. This benefit accrues at the rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked and is available after 90 days of employment. The maximum use of paid sick leave is 40 hours in a one-year period.  There is no cash value associated with benefit. There is no guarantee of hours and employment may end at any time. This position is at will and is not part of the City's Civil Service System.

The City of Redwood City invites you to apply for the position of Payroll Supervisor -Confidential.  Under general direction of the Financial Services Manager the Payroll Supervisor, plans, organizes, supervises, trains and evaluates the work and activities of assigned staff engaged in payroll operations ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant processing of employee compensation. Primary duties include providing expert level strategic leadership in planning, preparing, processing, and maintaining the City’s payroll and related records and reports, and partnering with Human Resources to recommend and implement payroll policies and procedures to meet City responsibilities with respect to labor agreements, labor laws, payroll tax administration and system updates.

A few typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Coordinates, oversees, and participates in the full spectrum of payroll activities; ensures timely and accurate posting of payroll to the financial accounting system; ensures accurate deduction and remittance of garnishments, child support, IRS levies and court orders as administered by vendors or internal staff; and ensures accurate reporting of changes in pay, payroll status, taxes, benefits, deductions, and retroactive pay adjustments.
• Assists in the development, implementation, administration, and prioritization of goals, objectives, policies, and procedures for assigned Payroll programs.
• Plans, organizes, schedules, assigns, directs, coordinates, and reviews work activities and projects; monitors workflow; reviews and evaluates work products, methods, and procedures; and works with staff to identify and resolve problems.

• Participates in the development, implementation, and enhancement of the Enterprise Resource planning (ERP) system including configuration, testing, and validation to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance; subject matter expertise on payroll processes to support ERP system design and enhancement; data migration, system integration, and reconciliation; coordinates needs and customizations to meet the needs of departments and/or sound financial practices; and monitors ERP system performance, recommends enhancements, and supports continuous improvement initiatives.

• Selects, trains, motivates, and evaluates assigned personnel; provides and/or coordinates staff training; develops work performance standards; works with employees to correct deficiencies; and implements discipline and termination procedures in conjunction with the Human Resources Department.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City, Public Works Department invites you to apply for the position of Building Maintenance Worker position.  The Building Maintenance Worker positions in this class are assigned a variety of tasks in the building trades. Although work requires the use of journey level tools and the ability to perform tasks in several of the crafts, the skill required in any one field is normally less than would be required of a journey level worker in that field. Technical supervision may be regularly exercised over one or more helpers.

Typical duties may include:

• Assist in a variety of carpentry and building maintenance tasks for municipal facilities. Keep accurate and timely records of building maintenance activities utilizing a computer work order system.
• Install, maintain, and repair plumbing systems and a variety of plumbing fixtures such as drinking fountains, faucets, sinks, toilets, water heaters, and aquatic facilities.
• Unstop drains and toilets.
• Use computerized/electronic equipment as required.
• Solicit bids and order parts and materials (purchasing) as needed
• Repair, install, and construct walls, cabinets, countertops, and other wood equipment and fixtures.
• Perform hand and bench work, operating table saw, miter saw, drill presses, skill saws, and other woodworking machinery.
• Maintain and repair structures such as barricades, fences, scaffolds and playground equipment and perform maintenance and repair on park and other City structures.
• Make repairs on doors, windows, floors, lockers, gates, roofs, and ceilings.
• Construct new walls, ceilings, and flooring.
