What's the Role?

The ideal candidate for this position must be an effective finance professional, creative problem solver and adaptable to change.  Under general direction, performs complex work of considerable difficulty in governmental accounting and financial analysis. Plans, organizes, manages and directs the activities of the Accountants, Accounts Payable, and Payroll within the Finance Department, provides highly complex staff assistance to the Director of Finance within the Finance Department; performs other related duties as required. Experience in government accounting is a plus!

Distinguishing Characteristics

The Accounting Manager is the management-level class responsible for assisting the Director, or designee, in the day-to-day administrating, directing and managing of assigned divisions. This classification is distinguished from that in the lower classification of Principal Accountant by their responsibility for overall management of the accounting division.

Supervision Received/Exercised

Receives general direction from the Director of Finance or his/her designee. Exercises direct supervision over professional, technical, and clerical accounting staff.

POSITION

To respond to fire alarms, medical emergency, and other emergency activities in the protection of life and property; and to participate in fire prevention, training and station and equipment maintenance activities.  The purpose of this recruitment is to fill a current vacancy in the Woodland Fire Department (WFD), as well as establish an eligibility list for future vacancies.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Respond to fire alarms with assigned company; lay and connect hose lines; hold nozzles and direct water streams; raise and climb ladders.
• Perform rescue operations in a variety of situations including but not limited to rescuing persons from areas threatened by fire, hazardous conditions, confined space, and active shooter/rescue task force events.
• Provide basic life support during medical incidents, assessing and initiating patient care until relieved by proper medical personnel.
• Operate all types of portable fire extinguishers, hand tools, hose lines, power tools and appliances, salvage covers, forcible entry tools, emergency medical equipment and other rescue equipment.
• Participate in fire drills; serve as instructor as assigned; attend training sessions.
• Promote and maintain safety in the workplace.
• Work cooperatively with others as integral part of a team.
• Follow chain of command and be responsive to orders.
• Regular, predictable, consistent and timely attendance is an essential function of the position, in that Employee must be present and fit for duty.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

• Respond to hazardous materials incidents and participate as member of the County Hazardous Materials Team. Shut down natural gas and electrical services to structure.
• Participate in fire inspection activities and other fire prevention, community risk reduction, and public education activities as assigned.
• Ensure that businesses are operating in compliance with the fire code.
• Participate in the programs providing various public relations services, including facility tours, public education seminars and other public events.
• Respond to inquiries from the public.
• Assist in investigating fire origin and cause.
• May be requested to respond to emergencies during non-duty hours. 
• Control traffic.
• Inventory supplies; maintain records.
• Can serve as “acting positions” when certified.
• Clean station quarters and equipment and maintain a clean and orderly condition in and about the fire station; perform minor building maintenance.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent.  College-level coursework in fire science, general management, or related field is desirable.
• Proof of completion of accredited Firefighter Academy

Experience:

• Possession of at least three (3) years of full-time work experience with a municipal fire agency, including current employment in good standing.  Exceptions may be considered for those in lay-off status if deemed not for cause.

License or Certificate:

Required Upon Hire:

• Proof of valid Candidate Physical Ability Test (valid for one year from issuance date).

Required Upon Hire and Continued Employment:

• Valid California Commercial Driver License (Class A or B), or Class C w/FF endorsement

Qualifications:

DESCRIPTION  

The City of Thousand Oaks is excited to announce the creation of a new Engineering Division Manager position within the Public Works Department. This newly established role, has been created to further strengthen our commitment to infrastructure excellence and service. Unlike similar roles in the City, this position has not been previously filled and offers a unique opportunity to shape and lead a critical division focused on engineering and construction of the City’s critical infrastructure. The City is currently accepting applications to fill several part-time, hourly positions to work in the theatres at the Bank of America Performing Arts Center.  Under the direction of the Technical Supervisors and the theatre department leads, the Stagehands assist with a variety of tasks related to theatre operations and maintenance.  The schedule will involve working up to 19 hours per week, depending on assignment.  The schedule includes working nights, weekends, and holidays.  On occasion, the position may involve working additional hours in a week.

POSITION DETAILS:

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Education/Training:

• Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.

Experience:

• Two years of general maintenance experience performing field maintenance work within the assigned area of responsibility.

License or Certificate:

• Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid Class A driver license within one year (Landscape or Streets) of employment.
• Some positions may require possession of, or ability to obtain, an Electrical Hazards Awareness certificate within one year of employment.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, CPR and First Aid certifications within the first six months.
• Additional industry-specific certifications may be required depending on area of assignment.

The City of Dixon Fire Department is recruiting to fill current Firefighter/Paramedic vacancies as soon as possible and to establish an eligibility for future needs. To be considered eligible for this hiring and eligibility list, you must meet the following criteria:

• Pass the Firefighter Candidate Testing Center (FCTC) Entry Level Firefighter Written Exam and be placed on the FCTC Statewide Eligibility List.
• Possess a current, valid Cal-JAC CPAT Card issued within the last 12 months from date of application submission.
• Possess a valid Firefighter 1 Academy certificate or California State Fire Marshal Firefighter 1 Certificate.
• Possess a current, valid California or National Registry Paramedic certification (note: persons possessing a National Registry Certification will be required to register as a California Paramedic prior to appointment).
• Valid California Class “C” Driver’s License with a clean driving record. Note: A DMV driving record will also be required to be submitted with your application.

The Dixon Fire Department offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity for qualified applicants pursuing a career in fire safety.  The position performs fire prevention activities to save lives and property; responds to hazardous material incidents; responds to all fire alarms with designated company; prepares and operates the necessary equipment at the scene of the fire such as a hose, ladders, chemicals, bars, hooks, etc.; administers first aid to injured patrons; performs other acts required of a Firefighter at the scene of an emergency; carries out all duties assigned by Superior Officers.  Work involves irregular hours during the day and evenings, and on weekdays, weekends, and holidays.

A valid California driving record (within 6 months) this will not be uploaded to FCTC. (Attach DMV Printout obtained from an official California DMV Office - www.DMV.ca.gov).   The online Driver Record is not an official document, but the City will accept either this or an official copy. The City will also accept an out of state/country DMV record. However, you will need to obtain a California State Driver’s License within 30 days of appointment.
