As an Instrumentation Technician, you’ll install, troubleshoot, and maintain the instrumentation and control systems that support our wastewater treatment operations. Your work helps ensure safe and reliable service for the community.

POSITION DETAILS:
- Salary range: $36.88 - $47.07 + Excellent Benefits
- Salary Increases:
- 3% Cost of Living adjustment increase effective 7/13/26
- 3% Cost of Living adjustment increase effective 7/12/27
- Salary placement is generally at the beginning of the range.
- Advanced placement may be considered based on related education and experience.
- NOTE: The City recently completed a compensation study comparing its salary ranges with those of other local agencies. As a result, 87% of salary ranges will be adjusted upward at various intervals. As ranges are adjusted, job postings will be updated to reflect these changes.
- Status: Regular, Full-Time position
- Work schedule: 9/80 schedule with every other Monday or Friday off.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Education:
- Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by college level course work in electronics or a related field.
Experience:
- Two years of increasingly responsible experience in the maintenance, repair, fabrication and installation of instrumentation systems in a wastewater treatment system, water distribution, water processing, or other industrial process control environment.

IDEAL CANDIDATE:
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualities and abilities:
- Knowledge of instrumentation and control systems, including installation, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair
- Strong understanding of SCADA systems, telemetry, electronics, and industrial process controls
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, such as schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and manuals
- Knowledge of designing, modifying, and fabricating instrumentation components and control circuits
- Ability to perform precise calibration and alignment of sensors, transmitters, pressure gauges, and monitoring equipment
- Knowledge of electrical codes, safety standards, and lockout/tagout procedures to ensure safe work practices
- Knowledge of computer systems and software, including data logging, configuration tools, and control interfaces
- Strong record‑keeping skills to maintain accurate logs, maintenance records, and reports
- Ability to collaborate with operators, engineers, contractors, and vendors
- Ability to adapt to new technologies
- Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, level & flow sensors, and mechanical systems used in treatment operations
