ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Saratoga has an exciting opportunity to join our Community Development Department, Planning Division.

This front-line team member in the City's Planning Division will provide a high level of customer service by effectively assisting the public and City staff. The position will report to the Development Manager and work collaboratively with the Associate and Senior Planner team.

This position provides professional planning services for property owners, developers, contractors, and the general public; performs professional, technical, statistical, and analytical duties involving land use or planning studies for a variety of public or private development projects; reviews development and land use applications, and zoning and site plans; assists the public in person, via phone and other communication methods, answering questions and providing information regarding zoning, land use, development standards, approved development proposals; completes technical assessments; and related work.

IMPORTANT: Only applicants with prior city government planning experience will be considered for this position. Qualifying experience includes working for a city government or working for a consulting firm performing municipal planning work for a city government.

The City of Redwood City Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Department invites you to apply for the casual position of Human Services Assistant at the Fair Oaks Community Center (FOCC). FOCC is a multi-service agency that offers a variety of programs and services provided by City staff and non-profit and public agency partners. This position provides a variety of administrative and operational support functions while also providing customer service to customers of all ages and backgrounds. In particular, the Human Services Assistant will support the Information and Referral/Emergency Services Program that provides vital safety net, homelessness intervention, and homelessness prevention services to low-income families, single parents, seniors, disabled persons, persons experiencing homelessness, and individuals seeking assistance in meeting their basic needs and strengthening their economic self-sufficiency.

This is a non-benefited, casual (temporary) position, scheduled to work flexibly, 10-20 hours per week.

The Position:

The Customer Service Representative is the entry-level classification in the Customer Service Representative series. This classification has a primary focus on providing superior customer service to the citizens and customers of the City of Santa Clara in handling a variety of customer account and billing issues.  Incumbents in this classification may be assigned to answer telephone calls, handle difficult inquiries, perform cashiering duties, process business licenses, and perform functions associated with customer billing, analysis, account adjustments, collections, or the financial assistance programs offered to utility customers.  This classification is distinguished from the Senior Customer Service Representative in that the latter is a lead worker position requiring a greater degree of technical knowledge, analytical ability, and independent judgment.

The annual salary range for this position is ($80,547.00 - $103,113.12). This position may be filled at or near the minimum of the salary range.

Education and Experience:

Minimum Qualifications:
• Graduation from high school or possession of a GED; and
• One (1) year of experience in banking, business license processing, call center operations, cashiering, customer service, and/or utility billing, preferably with a municipal or utility agency

• May be required to work evenings.
• Must be able to perform all the essential functions of the job assignment.

The Newark Recreation and Community Services Department seeks motivated, self-driven individuals passionate about working with the public. As a Senior Customer Service Representative, your role is pivotal in delivering exceptional service to our members and guests. As the primary point of contact, supervises part-time staff, enforces Silliman Center policies, assists in training staff, and serves as the primary contact for customers. This position requires you to work at our indoor water park and recreation center.

You must be able to work 15-25 hours a week between 5:30 am and 9:30 pm

The Facility Attendant provides operational supervision of community centers during the absence of full-time staff. Work hours may vary but will often be evenings, weekends and occasionally weekdays. The location of the facility will be discussed during the interview and may be for multiple locations depending on availability.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES (This is a general description of duties and is not all-inclusive)

• Supervision of user fee classes and private group uses
• Light maintenance
• Provide general assistance with office work, answer telephones and assist facility visitors
• Light lifting and moving of equipment
• Interpret Department policy
• Receive use permits and payments for community centers
• Assist in organizing and implementing special events and holiday programs
• Create and prepare lobby bulletin boards and displays promoting special events and holiday programs
• Perform other duties as assigned

SUPERVISION EXERCISED AND RECEIVED

The Recreation Supervisor at the assigned community center provides general supervision

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be least 18 years of AND one year or one summer work or volunteer experience
• Willingness and ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays
• Ability to work independently and reliably complete assigned tasks
• Must possess basic clerical and computer skills
• Ability to establish and maintain productive relations and positive attitude with others
• Ability to tactfully resolve guest/associate concerns

REQUIREMENTS FOR EMPLOYMENT

• Must be able to handle sensitive and/or stressful situations or information with tact, discretion and significant awareness of confidentiality
• Must effectively communicate with adults and children from a variety of cultural backgrounds
• Willingness to comply with suspected child abuse reporting (11166.5 PC)
• Employees are required to be certified in Adult/Child CPR & First Aid from American Red Cross, American Heart Association or supervisor approved equivalent. Employees must be certified within 30 days of hire date or prior to the first day of work, whichever occurs earlier.
• Fingerprinting and TB test are required
• Must submit verification of legal right to work in the United States as a condition of employment

SELECTION PROCESS

Qualified application will be evaluated on the basis of related experience and quality of presentation.

The most highly qualified applicants will be invited to an oral interview. Applicant evaluations may include a written and physical test. Satisfactory candidates will be placed on an eligibility list. Placements are anticipated immediately after the list is established. Some placements may be assigned to emphasize public education as the City's needs require.

Some positions may require a health evaluation.
