Salary

CHILD CARE AIDE

This position will work directly with a Child Care Site Coordinator or Lead Teacher at varying pre-school or K-6/ K-8 school sites based on program needs. The Child Care Aide is responsible for leading activities and supervising small groups of children in State-funded Title V programs.

The Vocational Rehabilitation Services (VRS) team of the Human Services Agency (HSA) of San Mateo County is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Rehabilitation Production Supervisor I/II. This current vacancy is a permanent position assigned in Catering Connection and/or the WorkCenter program. The position is a shared assignment and will be scheduled weekly to work in Catering Connection and/or the WorkCenter. The schedule of this position will vary and include weekends depending on the needs of the departments.
 
Under supervision, Rehabilitation Production Supervisor I/II will perform a variety of support activities and supervise the operation of Vocational Rehabilitation Services’ Catering Connection, and WorkCenter. In addition, this position is responsible for: Instructing, training and supervising the work of support staff and individuals with emotional and physical disabilities or others with barriers to employment by observing, evaluating and reporting on progress, attendance and employment potential of clients and preparing written evaluations.

Position Summary

 

Under supervision, performs inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosis, repair, removal, replacement and testing necessary to maintain all District vehicles, including record keeping and written verification of work accomplished as directed. 

 

Essential Responsibilities

 

• Responsible for major rebuilding, repair and/or removal and replacement of engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, turbochargers, pumps, motors, injectors, cylinder heads, compressors and hydraulic systems, air brake, air systems, steering, air conditioning, and electrical systems and associated vehicle parts.
• Provides minor and incidental repairs to vehicles in general, including manufacture and/or repair of components to maintain equipment.
• Performs ongoing preventive maintenance, inspections and procedures, as directed, to provide the safest, cleanest, most economical and dependable transportation possible for District utilization.
• Provides normal and reasonable care of all District-owned property and tools provided
• Directly responsible for written communication concerning ongoing status of repairs completed, repairs in progress and outstanding repairs necessary to safely and economically provide vehicles for District transportation needs.
• Participates in general repairs necessary to all mechanical equipment supplementary to vehicle repairs and maintenance as directed.
• Generates and completes work orders in a Computerized Asset Management System (IBM Maximo).
• Assists apprentice mechanics, new employees and current employees in pursuing a high level of production, reliability and safety.
• Adheres to the safety and health rules and safe working practices applicable to his or her job
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with District employees, customers, vendors and all others contacted during the course of work using principles of excellent customer service.

Minimum Qualifications

 

Education and/or Experience: 1) Completion of four (4) year apprenticeship program or approved equivalent; OR four years’ full-time experience in the repair of heavy duty diesel engines, air brakes, transmissions, differentials, and D.C. electrical; 2) Experience in the operation of machine tools common to repair shops, such as grinders, drill press, valve facers, lathes, boring bars, presses, etc.

 

Required License:  Must possess and maintain a current, valid California driver's license and satisfactory driving record. No more than two moving violations within the last 3 years. No DUI’s or Reckless Driving violations within the last 7 years. Must be able to obtain a Class A or B license with “P” endorsement within the six-month introductory/probationary period. Operates District vehicles on a regular basis.

 

REQUIRED TOOLS:

• Must have a full set of journey level hand tools to accomplish assigned work.

  

HOURS:

• Shifts are scheduled based on seniority in classification.
• Maintenance Department operates 7 days per week, 24 hours per day.
• Must be available to work all shifts.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Occasionally lift up to 100 lbs. maximum with assistance.  Frequently lift, carry and manipulate up to 50 pounds. Working inside and outside in all weather conditions. Works around fumes, odors and dust in an occasionally high noise level environment with appropriate personal protective equipment.

The Position 

The San Bruno Police Department is recruiting for Public Safety Dispatchers. The San Bruno Police Department has a long-standing tradition of small-town service with big-city dedication to public safety.  Public Safety Dispatchers are responsible for public safety dispatch and related records management activities. This position operates on a 24-hour, 365 days per year basis, and may be assigned to either a day, swing, or graveyard shift on a regular, rotational basis that includes nights, weekends, and holidays.  Public Safety Dispatchers perform a wide range of duties involving radio, telephone, and computers, applying various procedures and codes. Observes behavior of detainees in an assigned living unit; directs detainees in the upkeep of personal hygiene, during mealtimes, and while cleaning the unit; maintains appropriate close supervision over detainees to prevent negative incidents; provides appropriate discipline; consults with supervisors regarding disciplinary problems; conducts regular state mandated security checks of rooms; monitors visiting sessions to ensure the safety and security of detainees and counselors.

2. Inspects windows, locks doors when not in use, and keeps count of all detainees assigned to the unit; administers emergency first aid pending the arrival of medical staff; responds to emergency conditions which may require physically subduing and restraining hostile detainees to ensure the safety and security of the unit and the facilities.

3. Completes incident reports, behavior reports, individual case reports, and other departmental forms and reports; maintains the unit log book to ensure adherence to legal requirements. Maintains and updates electronic databases and case management systems.

4. Conducts ongoing individual and group counseling sessions with detainees by communicating rules, policies, expectations, and consequences; listens and responds to questions, concerns, complaints, and requests; provides assistance in working out problems to assist detainees.

5. Directs leisure time activities; teaches and encourages good sportsmanship.

6. Transports residents to and from various locations; directs and controls residents’ movement to ensure the safety and security of the residents.

7. Facilitates the admittance and release process of residents.

8. Confers with departmental personnel and representatives of outside agencies.

Qualifications

Education:
Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.

License and Certification:
Possession of a valid California driver license.
Possession of a valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate.

Substitution:
Experience as a counselor in a juvenile detention facility or experience involving the organization, detention, or suspension of youth groups in a recreational or correctional program may substitute for up to two (2) years of the education requirement on a year-for-year basis. Under general supervision, assists in analyzing, planning, implementing, maintaining, troubleshooting and enhancing large complex systems or networks consisting of a combination that may include mainframes, mini-computers, personal computers, mobile devices, LANS, WANs, servers, data storage and the physical and logical components that integrate these systems together as an enterprise networking backbone. 

The 1042 Security Engineer is the journey level position in the Engineer series. The class is distinguished from the Senior level by the complexity of the tasks, projects or duties assigned, and is more independent than the Assistant level. This classification performs a wide range of complex analytical, design, planning, implementation, enhancement and problem resolution tasks on large complex systems and networks. Works within a framework of established procedures and interprets policies, procedures and guidelines. This level may formulate recommendations consistent with directives, policies, standards and regulations. Incumbents require only occasional instruction or assistance. Work is reviewed upon completion and for overall results. Serves as a technical architect and systems integrator for large complex systems or networks, with a focus on securing vulnerabilities and reducing risk of system and/or asset compromises.

Essential Duties:
 

1. Determine requirements for the development environment and / or enhancement for large complex systems that serve HSA’s programs. May research and conduct feasibility studies on new technologies.
2. Design, plan, integrate, test, implement, document and enhance large complex systems. This may involve the analysis, coding (.NET C#, Cold Fusion), web application design, database design, and evaluation of systems software, hardware and communications strategies.
3. Perform systems integration for interoperability over dissimilar platforms and technologies. This may involve the integration of various protocols and systems software.
4. Determine the proper installation parameters for software for smooth integration and efficiency in relation to the enterprise system and network.
5. Write code to customize large systems software which may involve specialized programming languages.
6. Read and understand requirements documentation and other documentation in order to write code to implement the required features for application systems.
7. Analyze, detect, identify and correct complex systems software or hardware deficiencies. Analyze, research and debug program logic and systems; modify program logic; analyze service requests for system changes or new requirements to determine the most effective approach and the appropriate staff time required to achieve the needed modification.
8. Provide emergency technical support for application issues to ensure system availability and data integrity. May provide on-call support to ensure rapid recovery from software or hardware problems for mission-critical systems and networks.
9. Act as the liaison between vendors, technical support hot-lines and departments to resolve complex systems. Coordinate and implement corrective measures; this may involve site visits, telephone assistance, remote systems and participation in technical committees.
10. Facilitate the demonstration and training of staff in the use of new hardware or software products.

THE POSITION:

This can be a stressful and demanding job located within the Police Department requiring shift work, weekend and holiday duty.  Although hours vary, this is an on-call, as-needed position that is paid hourly.  Using RIMS (Records Information Management System), per diem dispatchers dispatch police and transfer calls to Fire & EMS under emergency conditions; receive residential alarm calls and take calls of an emergency and non-emergency nature from citizens; greets public and assists at the front counter.  Dispatchers must remain calm and tactful under trying conditions, remembering detailed information, and thinking clearly while performing several tasks at once.

To maintain familiarity with the Atherton Police Dispatch Center, we can offer guaranteed 16 hours of shifts spread over a few days per month. You'll provide break relief while also getting a chance to work with another dispatcher. Project Name: Train Control Upgrade Project

The Transit Division is currently in the process of developing and procuring a new train control system, as well as streamlining operations at the new Transportation Management Center (TMC). The Program Delivery and Support Unit within the Transit Division was created in 2018 to oversee capital program and project budgets, manage vehicle and onboard equipment projects, testing and acceptance of rolling stock and technology projects that will deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions which improve safety and the Agency’s ability to deliver quality transit service. Within the Program Delivery and Support unit, the Transit Technology Group handles the delivery, acceptance, and management of technology systems which are critical to transit operations.

The Train Control Upgrade Project is an 8-year, multimillion dollar project with the goal of modernizing the existing Automatic Train Control System in Muni’s subway as well as expanding the supervision and limited control aspects of a Communication-Based Train Control System to the entire Muni light rail system.

Under the general direction of the Train Control Upgrade Project Manager, the Lead Project Engineer manages the Train Control Upgrade Project engineering team and acts as the SFMTA lead for the overall system design. The Lead Project Engineer assists the Project Manager with oversight duties related to project design and scheduling to facilitate the procurement, development, and maintenance of the future train control system. Additionally, this position is responsible to the Train Control Upgrade Project Manager for ensuring that the future train control system design meets the SFMTA’s objectives for the project, and that the system design conforms to all applicable SFMTA, state, local, and federal standards.

The Train Control Upgrade Project will be delivered through a series of contracts with the technology vendor (Supplier) and other firms providing installation, construction support, technical expertise, and professional services. The Lead Project Engineer will act as the SFMTA design authority for the project by supervising the production of technical documentation from the project contractors, leading technical coordination between the department and Supplier, and ensuring the future system meets the performance metrics and technical specifications laid out in the Supplier contract(s).

In addition, the Lead Project Engineer will act as the SFMTA technical representative to review, accept, or when necessary, audit, technical project submittals and deliverables provided by the Supplier and other project contractors related to system design. As the SFMTA technical representative, the Lead Project Engineer will have a strong understanding of the project contract requirements and be able to identify key project staff and agency stakeholders for review when evaluating submittals and project deliverables.

Essential Duties:

• Manages a team of SFMTA engineers assigned to the project, including vehicle engineers, electrical engineers, and traffic engineers;
• Responsible to the Project Manager for ensuring the train control system design meets the project objectives as well as applicable SFMTA, state, local and federal design standards;
• Acts as the lead SFMTA design authority for the project, provides technical review and recommendation to the Project Manager for approval/acceptance of project CDRLs;
• As assigned by the Project Manager, represents the SFMTA in reviewing, approving and auditing technical submittals provided by the Supplier and other project contractors;
• Leads the SFMTA technical team during project design reviews and prepares technical comments on behalf of the SFMTA;
• Reviews all technical documents and correspondence from the Train Control System Supplier and other project contractors;
• Prepares and supervises staff and project Consultants in the preparation of documents, including technical specifications, engineering reports, contract documents, advertisement for bids, instructions to potential bidders, detailed project specifications, technical manuals, and contract bonds;
• Assists Project Manager in negotiating contracts and contract modifications;
• Responds to technical RFIs, resolves clarifications from vendors and addresses their requests by issuing addendums;
• Works with the Technical Program Manager and Technology Department engineers on communications infrastructure design and technical coordination between the Supplier and supportive infrastructure installers;
• Works with Real Estate department, Maintenance of Way staff, facilities project team and engineers on ensuring SFMTA facilities are prepared for train control equipment installation;
• Reviews proposals from vendors and evaluates bid documents for conformance with project specifications;
• Observes train control system component installation and ensures installation is occurring according to plans;
• Ensures smooth communication, and when necessary, mediates technical disputes between the train control system Supplier and installers;
• Supervises the train control system testing program and assists the project QA team in assessing the quality of delivered and/or installed components;
• Tracks completion of technical requirements and evaluates the system and individual subsystems and components for acceptance;
• Participates in the RAM demonstration and verifies that the system as designed and delivered meets the project performance metrics;
• Communicates with Train Control System Supplier for technical support as needed to address system issues under warranty;
• Works with Supplier, SFMTA operations and maintenance staff to ensure both the designed and finished train control system meets operations and maintenance needs and works within their stated constraints;
• Reviews and manages workload assignment to consultants, SFMTA engineers, and interns as required;
• Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Qualification:

1. Seven (7) years of verifiable professional electrical engineering work experience of which four (4) years of that experience must be as a licensed professional engineer. Two (2) of the seven (7) years must be equivalent to the City and County of San Francisco class 5241 Engineer; AND
2. Possession of a baccalaureate degree with major course work in engineering; AND
3. Possession of a Certificate of Registration as a Professional Engineer (Electrical) in the State of California.

Substitution:

• A Master's Degree in Engineering may substitute for one-year work experience.
• A Ph. D. in Engineering may substitute for two years work experience.

Desirable Qualifications:

• Technical expertise and knowledge of the principles, practices, purposes, scope and techniques of train control and/or signaling systems.
