The County of Glenn is seeking an Assistant Director of Public Works who is a strategic, collaborative, and confident leader with effective communication skills. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead complex engineering projects that provide essential services throughout Glenn County. Reporting directly to the Public Works Director, the Assistant Public Works Director will serve as a project manager for a variety of public works and capital improvement projects, including the design and construction of roads, bridges and storm drainage infrastructure.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives general direction from the Director of Public Works; exercises direct supervision over professional engineering, technical engineering and clerical staff.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

• Plans, directs and coordinates staff work plan.

• Coordinates with other County departments on administrative and fiscal matters

• Participates on or serves as staff liaison to a variety of boards and commissions.

• Prepares division budget; assists in budget implementation; participates in the forecast of  additional funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials and supplies; administers approved budget.

• Monitors and evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and  procedures; identifies opportunities for improvement and reviews recommendations with the Director.

The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the position of Administrative Technician. There is currently a vacancy in the Probation Department. Under general supervision performs technical level administrative, operational, procedural, and/or program related duties in assistance to a County department; researches, collects, and analyzes data and prepares draft reports; performs administrative and technical work of assigned program area; and provides responsible administrative and technical assistance to management; coordinates program activities, assisting with process improvement efforts, preparing a variety of correspondence and reports and performs other duties as assigned. This is the journey para-professional level in the administrative/analytical series.

DEFINITION

The City of Live Oak Internship Program is designed to attract, develop and mentor innovative individuals interested in pursuing a career in the public sector. The program seeks dedicated students who, through their academic achievement and/or employment history, have demonstrated high potential for a career in local government. Interns are encouraged to apply for full-time positions with the City after their internship is completed.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS

Interns generally work under close supervision and perform simple or routine tasks while learning to perform the more difficult and responsible ones. Interns are hired as limited term employees and employment service is dependent on the length of the project or the particular City service needs.

Intern positions are by their nature temporary employment and Interns are not eligible for City benefit programs unless specifically approved in writing by the City Manager.

The work schedule is typically part-time 15-20 hours per week with flexibility to work 30 to 40 hours per week depending on the needs of the Intern and the City program assigned. Interns with significant experience in their assigned area may be eligible to move along the assigned Salary Band with the specific approval of the City Manager.

Intern positions are not permanently funded and may be terminated at any time.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

• May review and route routine planning documents, petitions, permits, packets and records; analyze environmental checklists and environmental information forms and make specific recommendations following department procedures;
• May assist professional and technical staff with special projects including surveying, data gathering and reporting, analyses and computerized report presentations;
• May respond to basic inquiries from the general public and resolve issues related to the City's planning and zoning procedures and specific permits; research and provide information to City staff and the general public regarding land use issues and standard environmental documentation;
• May perform a variety of activities relating to the development of financial and statistical reporting, including accumulating, analyzing and tracking of revenues and expenditures; analyzes financial trends and develops projections of costs and funding opportunities.
• May conduct surveys, research, and analysis of various departmental issues; may update procedure and policy manuals;
• May answer phones and/or assist the public or others including such tasks as taking messages, responding to questions or requests for assistance, screening and referring to sources of information, providing forms and explaining procedures for completion;

The County of Yuba is currently accepting full time and extra help employment applications for the position of Office Specialist within the Community Development and Services Agency.  Under general supervision, incumbents perform a variety of administrative, secretarial, and office support duties of considerable complexity, requiring thorough know ledge of the assigned department, division, or program, its procedures and operational details; provides administrative support to various department staff; composes and prepares correspondence using judgment in content and style; performs skilled word processing, data entry and organization, telephone and counter reception, processing of invoices, recordkeeping, statistical and technical report preparation, and filing; provides information to the public and County staff; and performs related duties as assigned.  

Note: Office Specialist is a County-wide classification. The employment list established from this recruitment may be utilized to fill additional vacancies within the same classification in other departments including law enforcement departments such as Sheriff and Probation if they arise during the life of the Employment List.

The County of Yuba is currently accepting full time and extra help applications for the position of Correctional Technician within the Probation Department - Youth Detention Facilities and the Sheriff's Department - Jail Division. Working under general supervision, the Correctional Technician is responsible for operating and monitoring video and audio systems to maintain the safety and security of inmates, juveniles, and staff within the secure detention areas. Additional responsibilities include performing various technical and clerical tasks related to the intake and release process for the County's Jail system, and juveniles at the Tri-County Juvenile Hall and Maxine Singer Youth Guidance Center, inputting relevant data into the booking system, documenting inmate and juvenile observations, providing public reception, access, and assistance as required, and other related duties as assigned.

Essential:

• Process paperwork provided by law enforcement officer or the courts for new inmates or youth; verify information on booking forms; obtain signatures; oversee telephone usage; obtain photographs; inventory and securely process property and money for safekeeping.
• Gather and enter inmate or youth information into computerized booking system; prepare and route computer-generated booking; complete files, logs, charts and other documents associated with jail or juvenile detention facility booking activities.
• Participate in monitoring safety and security of the staff, inmates, juveniles, visitors and facility; notify appropriate staff of any incidents, problems, or suspicious behavior.
• Observe and assess the behavior of inmates or youth from a control room; monitor radio communications; and operate intercom and electronic door controls in routine and emergency conditions.
• Process court paperwork, process discharge paperwork, and enter data into computer system.
• Update manual and automated inmate or youth records and tracking systems.
• Monitor inmates or youth on exercise yard from a controlled area; monitor and document inmates’ or youths’ recreational activities.

The City of Marysville is seeking qualified candidates for the position of a Public Works Director; this recruitment will fill 1 vacancy and create an eligible list.  

Reporting directly to the City Manager, this position is responsible for executive direction, strategic leadership, and management of the Public Works Department, including City maintenance workers and capital improvement projects. 

As the principal administrator of the Public Works Department, the Director; plans, organizes, directs, reviews and manages all department activities and functions including Engineering, Parks and Recreation, Streets, Public Facilities, Wastewater Treatment/Sewage, and Storm Water Management.

The Director also coordinates departmental activities with other City departments, outside agencies, community groups and individuals; and provides highly complex professional advice and support to the City Manager and City Council; assures department compliance with and enforcement of applicable federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, and codes; manages and supervises staff; serves as a member of the City’s Executive Team.

REQUIREMENTS

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Education and Certification

Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in Engineering, Construction Management or similar major.

Licenses: Possess valid California Class C Driver’s License.

Experience

Incumbents must have a minimum of three (3) years of managerial experience directly involving municipal services such as public works, public utilities, capital improvement project management, parks maintenance and management, and/or street and facilities maintenance.

The County Counsel position, under direction of the Board of Supervisors, serves as principle legal counsel to the County of Glenn; plans, organizes, directs and reviews the functions and  activities for the County Counsel’s Office including advising County departments and employees on legal issues and representing those departments and employees in litigation; establish, monitor, evaluate and revise the office’s goals, objectives, policies, and procedures; coordinate assigned activities with other County departments and outside agencies.

The County of Yuba is recruiting for both Extra-Help and Full-Time Juvenile Corrections Officers I/II, in an effort to fill current vacancies and expand staffing levels. These positions are located on the Tri-County Youth Rehabilitation Campus which falls under the Juvenile Institutions Division of the Yuba County Probation Department.  The primary responsibilities of this flexibly staffed position are to: provide care, custody, supervision, and control of youth housed in the secured detention facilities while they are pending legal action or serving a post adjudication commitment; ensure and sustain a safe and secure environment for youth; and coordinate counseling and behavior modification activities associated with the operation of the facilities.

About Detention Services & Yuba County:

Our Campus provides youth detention services to the communities of Yuba, Sutter, and Colusa Counties as well as several contract counties through our Camp Singer program.  We operate 24 hours a day, 365 days per year, and includes the Tri-County Juvenile Hall, Secure Housing Unit, and Maxine Singer Youth Guidance Center (Camp Singer), under a Joint Powers Agreement between the three counties. Our Department is the administrative agency responsible for the management and daily operation of the facility. The shared goal of facility staff is to provide youth with support and tools that will assist them with successfully reintegrating back into the community.  Staff are provided with state mandated relevant training, which includes youth trauma; crisis management; cultural competence; mental health awareness; sexual abuse and harassment; and proper use of force.

The Yuba County Sheriff’s Department is currently accepting applications to establish an eligibility list for the classification of Correctional Officer.  Under continuing supervision incumbents perform a wide variety of support in two areas: corrections, in which incumbents ensure the security, safety and care of individuals in custody; and bailiff, in which incumbents ensure the safety and security of the courts and their personnel during court proceedings; and perform related work as assigned.
