The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the positions of Assistant Engineer, Associate Engineer and Associate Civil Engineer for the Public Works Department in the Community Development and Services Agency. Currently, there are two vacancies that may be filled at either the Assistant Engineer, Associate Engineer, or Associate Civil Engineer level depending on qualifications. These classes are alternately staffed and incumbents may advance to the higher level after gaining experience, required certifications and demonstrating proficiency which meet the qualifications and expectations for the higher level class. The incumbent to this position will perform engineering work, including preparing design plans, specifications and engineering estimates related to roads, bridges, culverts and other County infrastructure; project management; assist in developing and administering professional services or construction project contracts; review plans and inspect projects; collect and present data and prepare reports; provide information and advice to the public and perform related work as assigned. 

Assistant Engineer: is the entry level in the civil engineer series. Initially under close supervision, incumbents will provide assistance to management staff or higher level engineers in the areas of research, data collection, project administration, preparation of reports and preparation of engineering plans and specifications. Assignments are intended to provide background in the fundamental principles and practices of public service engineering.

Associate Engineer: is the journey level in the civil engineer series. Under general supervision, incumbents independently conduct design, research and construction project inspection and analyses for a variety of projects within the county. Responsibilities may also include providing work direction to technical support staff.

Associate Civil Engineer: is the advanced journey level in the civil engineering series. Under general direction, incumbents perform professional engineer work and prepare civil design plans for various Public Works projects; independently conduct engineering feasibility cost, research and design studies and construction project work; analyses for varied department and agency projects and functions; signing off designs and as-built changes related to roads, bridges, culverts and other County infrastructure and perform related duties as assigned.

The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the position of Social Worker Supervisor III in the Child and Adult Protective Services division of the Health and Human Services Department. Under general supervision this position plans, assigns, supervises, trains, reviews and evaluates the work of Social Workers assigned to adult and child protective services; oversees and performs social services case work of a complex and difficult nature in providing a variety of social services to County residents; performs case work of varying scope and complexity and may provide program leadership and consultative services; responsible for program planning and implementation as well as performance of the most complex work and the full range of work supervised on a relief or overflow basis and performs other duties as assigned. This position is the specialized supervisory professional level in the social worker series and reports directly to a Health and Human Services Program Manager.

Examples of Duties:

• Plan, organize, assign, supervise, review and evaluate the work of various levels of professional social work staff in the area of adult and child protective services.
• Provide direction and coaching, through regular feedback sessions; create individual development plans with employees, discuss job performance problems to identify causes and issues, and work on resolving problems; and offer advice and assistance as needed.
• Recommend and administer discipline and implement discipline procedures as needed/directed.
• Recommend selection of staff; provide or coordinate staff training and provide for their professional development.
• Interpret regulations and rules to staff; provide for consistency of staff interpretation and application of such rules and regulations.
• Provide technical assistance to staff regarding difficult case problems.
• Prepare and modifies procedures related to assigned activities; inform staff of such changes.
• Perform the full range of professional work, often in difficult or complex circumstances.
• Interview and counsel a diverse population referred for services; handle the most complex and sensitive child welfare services cases.

The County of Yuba is recruiting for the position of Social Worker III/III Master’s Level in the Child and Adult Protective Services Division of the Health & Human Services Department in an effort to establish an eligibility list for future vacancies. Under general supervision, incumbents are fully competent to independently perform the most complex and sensitive social services case work by providing a variety of services to County residents; identify, access and document abuse and neglect cases; provide counseling and support services to children and parents; refer clients to services; prepare detailed, complex court documents and testify in court as required; and perform related work as assigned. The work may be related to a specific program area or to more general social service benefit provision. The Social Worker III and the Social Worker III – Master’s Level are the advanced journey-level classes in the general social work series.

Under the general direction, the PEO performs a variety of law enforcement support duties, with the majority of responsibilities involving enforcement of parking regulations. About The Position:

The Emergency Dispatcher I/II position in the Sheriff’s Department performs a variety of difficult work in the provision of 24-hour-per-day, seven-days-per-week public safety emergency dispatch service, including all 911 communications. Emergency Dispatcher I is the entry level class in the Emergency Dispatcher series.  It differs from Emergency Dispatcher II in that the II level is fully trained as a dispatcher and may provide training for the Dispatcher I. This position is scheduled for forty (40) hours per week.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Receives incoming calls from the public; determines type of assistance required, including law enforcement, fire or ambulance personnel, etc., and dispatches emergency and non-emergency radio and telephone communications to appropriate jurisdictions and agencies.
• Operates a law enforcement 911 communications network.
• Maintains radio communications with field personnel as necessary to relay messages and information, and to determine the location and safety of field personnel.

The City of Sebastopol is looking for a respectful, compassionate, empathetic Police Officer Trainee. The selected candidate must be currently enrolled or enrolled at a future date as a self-sponsored recruit in a certified Peace Officer Standards & Training Council (P.O.S.T.) Police Academy. The Police Officer Trainee is a non-sworn, training-level classification requiring no prior law enforcement experience. The incumbent performs a variety of entry-level police support duties in a learning capacity. The selected candidate will assist and observe Police Officers and civilian police personnel.

The successful candidate will attend the Police Academy to obtain a Basic P.O.S.T. Certificate of Completion, and perform related work which may require public contact but not the enforcement of laws. Police Officer Trainees attend a POST certified Police Academy, which follows a standardized curriculum in order to provide them with basic training in various aspects of policing, many of which are prescribed by law and/or statute.

The Police Academy training is designed to provide the candidate the necessary skillsets to prepare them for consideration for promotion to a probationary Police Officer position within the City and begin the Sebastopol Police Department’s Field Training Officer program. Attendance and successful completion of a Police Academy is a legal requirement to be hired as a Police Officer within the State of California and is a requirement for a City of Sebastopol Police Officer Trainee to be considered for promotion to probationary Police Officer with the City of Sebastopol.

QUALIFICATIONS:  

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be: 

Education: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade. 

Experience: One (1) year of experience in construction, maintenance, and/or repair of parks and/or related facilities is desirable. 

Licenses and Certifications: Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California Class B Driver’s License by time of appointment; possession and maintenance of Qualified Applicator certificate issued by the State of California.

Retirement:  The City is a part of the CalPERS retirement plan and does not contribute to Social Security. Classic employees – 2% @55 formula, highest 3-year average compensation PEPRA employees – hired after 1/1/13 or Classic employees who have experienced a 6- month break in service are eligible for a 2% @ 62 formula, highest 3-year average compensation

Sick Leave: 96 hours of sick leave per year.
