Hiring Process

Step 1: Apply! A copy of your Lifeguard certification or proof of course enrollment is required with your application.

Step 2: Register for Summer Lifeguard Tryouts at: https://bit.ly/aquahire

Tryout Requirements:

• 300-yard continuous swim (freestyle)
• 50-yard Breaststroke
• 50-yard Back Stroke
• 2-minute tread with hands in the armpit
• 10lbs brick retrieval from 10-13ft of water
• 5 enter and exits from the side of the pool (no ladder)

Interviews will be conducted immediately following the successful completion of your tryout.

Step 3: All new employees must attend the Lifeguard Orientation Training on Saturday, June 7

• You must be at least 16 years of age by your start date
• American Red Cross Deep Water Lifeguard Certification.

Lifeguard II ($17.62-$19.83)  Lifeguard II

• You must be at least 16 years of age by your start date
• American Red Cross Deep Water Lifeguard Certification
• American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification
• A minimum of 140 hours of Lifeguarding experience

Senior Lifeguard ($18.25-$20.55)  Senior Lifeguard

• You must be at least 18 years of age by your start date
• American Red Cross Deep Water Lifeguard Certification
• American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification
• A minimum of 500 hours of Lifeguarding experience

Assistant Pool Manager ($18.92-$21.29)  Assistant Pool Manager

• You must be at least 18 years of age by your start date
• American Red Cross Deep Water Lifeguard Certification
• American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification
• A minimum of 1000 hours of Lifeguarding experience

We are seeking a hands-on, mechanics and electronics savvy Instrumentation Technician to join our Public Works Sanitation division. This position maintains, repairs, inspects, plans, modifies, designs, installs and calibrates instrumentation, electrical, and SCADA control systems for wastewater treatment facilities; maintains a spare parts inventory; and trains operations staff in the understanding of instrumentation and control systems related to the process operation.

Details:

• Full-time regular position, 9/80 schedule with every other Monday or Friday off.
• Salary range $35.80 to $45.70 hourly with Excellent Benefits.

Our Minimum Qualifications for consideration are:

Education: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by college level course work in electronics or a related field.

Experience: Two years of increasingly responsible experience in the maintenance, repair, fabrication and installation of instrumentation systems in a wastewater treatment system, water distribution, water processing, or other industrial process control environment.

About the Position:

The County of Yuba is currently accepting applications for Building Inspector I/II/III in the Building Department of the Community Development & Services Agency. This is a multi-level class series in which incumbents may be assigned to any one of the three levels depending on organizational needs, professional experience, individual expertise and skill, proficiency gained and complexity of assignments. The Building Inspector series is flexibly staffed through level III.

Building Inspector I – Initially under close supervision, incumbents learn structural, framing, plumbing, electrical, energy consumption, disability access, zoning, and related codes and inspection techniques. As experience is gained, inspections become more complex and are performed under more general supervision. This is the entry level in the building inspection series.   

Building Inspector II – Under limited supervision, this is the journey level in this class series, fully qualified to independently perform diverse inspections. This is the journey level in the building inspection series.  

Building Inspector III – is the advanced journey/lead level in this class series. Incumbents at this level receive general supervision as new or unusual situations arise. As employees progress through these levels, they will be assigned more complex, difficult and/or contentious inspections.

Building Inspector I:

• Perform basic principles and practices of the Building Department for inspections, investigations, code interpretation, permit application intake, review and permit issuance, including record keeping and case management.  Also learns zoning, land use, fire-safe and water quality related regulations.
• Inspect new and existing residential properties, and other building and construction elements for conformance to codes, regulations, plans, specifications and standards related to foundations, framing, electrical, plumbing and other structural and functional elements.
• Maintain professional development and continuing education activities, study for and pass certification exams to maintain certification requirements.

Building Inspector II:

• Learn inspection practices and procedures for non-residential commercial and industrial projects, new and existing.
• Perform inspections of new and existing buildings, building and construction elements and structures with limited supervision.
• Investigate complaints regarding existing buildings or new construction to determine if code violations or problem conditions exist; resolve problems or refer them to the supervisor for resolution.

Building Inspector III:

• Provide lead direction, training and work review to professional and technical staff; organize and assign work, set priorities and follow-up to ensure coordination and completion of assigned work; provide input into performance evaluations.
• Perform plan reviews and field inspections of a complex and difficult nature; respond to highly sensitive, complex, or technical complaints; make on-site visits to validate the nature of the complaint and recommend solutions.
• Independently perform full range of Building Inspection duties including conducting and documenting multiple inspections; maintain accurate and separate records for each inspection.

The Public Works Maintenance Superintendent (Streets) is a management-level role within the Maintenance Division of the Public Works Department. This position is responsible for overseeing the operation of construction and maintenance equipment, street and sidewalk repairs, street drainage system maintenance, and graffiti abatement.

Key duties for this role include:

• Overseeing the operation of construction and maintenance equipment.

• Managing street and sidewalk repairs.

This position also involves:

Summer Day Camps

Looking for individuals who are passionate about making a difference and having fun outdoors! If entering your senior year of high school, are in college or beyond, this could be a perfect fit. Our five all-day summer camps run from June 16 to August 15, with staff training beginning June 9. Serving children ages 4-12 at multiple locations, these positions serve as role models to youth campers throughout the Conejo Valley, leading arts and crafts, recreation games, swimming, hiking and more!

Minimum Qualifications for consideration - Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Education/Training: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized training in tree and landscape care and maintenance.

Experience: Four years of increasingly responsible experience in maintaining, trimming, and caring for trees, landscape, and related equipment, including tree climbing experience are required. Supervisory/lead experience is desired.

License or Certificate:

Possession of, or ability to obtain within one year, certification as a Certified Arborist from the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA).

Possession of, or ability to obtain within six months, Electrical Hazard Awareness Procedures and CPR/First Aid/AED certifications.

Possession of, and ability to maintain, a valid Class A drivers license including trailer and tank endorsements.

We are seeking two outgoing and community-oriented individuals to join our Public Works department as temporary, part-time and/or substitute Crossing Guards. This rewarding and impactful position safely assists school children in crossing busy intersections by halting vehicles through the use of mechanical signals and/or hand-held stop signs; maintains order among children waiting to cross the street at street crossing points; permits street crossing only when safe to do so; reports the license numbers of vehicles violating school crosswalk-related traffic laws to Community Services management personnel or the Simi Valley Police Department; and, instills an awareness in school children of safety measures necessary for safe street crossing. 

Pay rate for this position is $16.50 hourly

• Must be 18 years of age or older, have open availability, and be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Must be able to remain calm and use good judgment in emergency situations.
• Basic first aid knowledge is desirable.
• Must possess good hearing ability across a frequency range from 500 Hz to 3,000 Hz. Hearing levels meeting these requirements in the better ear either with or without a hearing aid will be acceptable. If an individual meets the criteria by using a hearing aid, then he/she must wear that hearing aid and be in possession of a spare power source for the hearing aid.
• Must possess corrected vision of 20/40 minimum, with no color blindness.

The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the position of Senior Civil Engineer in the Public Works Division of the Community Development and Services Agency. Under limited supervision, the Senior Civil Engineer will perform the more difficult professional engineering work including the preparation of civil design plans for various Public Works projects, conducting research studies, performing field inspections and testing, analyzing reports, maps, drawings, or geological data, and procuring permits; act as a resource to staff, contracts, consultants, other agencies and the public regarding areas of assignment; provide lead direction and technical assistance to assigned staff and/or project management; and perform related work as assigned. Incumbents are fully qualified to perform all duties specified as a Professional Engineer by the State of California. This is the master level in the civil engineer series, and reports directly to Principal Engineer.

Examples of Duties:

• Review plans and inspect projects; provide engineering design and code information and ensure that designs meet accepted industry and legal standards, and projects are biddable and buildable.
• Interpret and explain complex and technical laws, codes and regulations and provide information related to Public Works Engineering activities; may receive and respond to complaints and recommend corrective action as necessary.
• Initiate and maintain professional relationships with other departments, businesses, local community and professional organizations.
