Position Summary

Under the general direction of the Senior Information Systems Manager, this position provides system support during implementation and ongoing support after implementation including report writing, configuration, routine inquiries and user support for the District’s various enterprise technology systems including UKG Pro Workforce Management Time & Attendance and Central Square Technologies Finance Enterprise.   The Business Information Systems Engineer works with end-users, vendors, and members of the Information Systems Department to identify, analyze, and resolve systems issues and provide maximum capability and satisfaction to users.

Essential Responsibilities

• Serves as a technical lead of the enterprise application
• Focused on delivering excellent customer service
• Adhere to incident, problem, change management, and other Information Systems best practices
• Plan, organize, direct and coordinate the ongoing automation and usage of the district-wide application systems
• Develop and maintain user and technical knowledge of application systems
• Serve as the liaison between application system users, vendor provided help desk as well as the Information Systems Department
• Plan, co-ordinate and test system upgrades
• Fulfill users various data mining requests
• Support the various large interface integrations between the application systems and fixing data problems that occur in these interfaces
• Develop and provide user training for all modules of the systems
• Writes user documentation, provides user information, procedures, and training materials in a variety of formats as needed
• Develops a knowledge base of problem symptoms and solutions to improve the timeliness of problem resolution
• Identify unused system functionality and present opportunities for improvement of business processes using this functionality
• Continue to monitor and stay current on new features contained in new releases of the software
• Recommend and implement software upgrade paths
• Develop relationships with other agency users of the applications
• Maintains strong technical competence in Microsoft Office products such as Access, Excel, Word, Outlook, Project, and PowerPoint
• Other duties as assigned at the direction of the Information Systems Manager
• Know and follows the safety and health rules and safe working practices applicable to the job
• Regular and reliable attendance and performance are required

Minimum Qualifications for consideration - Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Education/Training: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized training in tree and landscape care and maintenance.

Experience: Four years of increasingly responsible experience in maintaining, trimming, and caring for trees, landscape, and related equipment, including tree climbing experience are required. Supervisory/lead experience is desired.

License or Certificate:

Possession of, or ability to obtain within one year, certification as a Certified Arborist from the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA).

Possession of, or ability to obtain within six months, Electrical Hazard Awareness Procedures and CPR/First Aid/AED certifications.

Possession of, and ability to maintain, a valid Class A drivers license including trailer and tank endorsements.

allcove™ https://allcove.org/ is a youth drop-in center model that has evolved from the Head Space Program in Australia and Foundry Program in British Columbia, Canada. PHCD is working closely with Stanford’s Center for Youth Mental Health and Well Being (CYMHWB) leadership who have been instrumental in defining the model for California and successfully influencing the State of California Mental Health Services & Oversight Accountability Commission (MHSOAC) to provide start up grants for five pilot centers around the State. The Position 

The City of Thousand Oaks is seeking an innovative and proactive Deputy Community Development Director – Operations with a forward-thinking perspective who will: 

• Oversee a portion of the Planning Division, code compliance, open space planning, CDBG/housing, and  administrative services. Manages administrative support to the department and establishes methods, procedures, and standards for office services.  

• Manage department-wide special projects and process improvement initiatives, including e-planning and e-permitting through a new land management system implementation,  

• Develops and implements organization development programs, department’s training programs, and coordinates agency personnel related issues, which may include payroll. 

• Develops and administers the operating budget for the department.   

• Supervises management information systems of the department, including, but not limited to, computer and software support, maintaining records and archives, and developing and maintaining a variety of databases.    

• Assist in integrating the City’s vision, goals, and people strategy with the business strategy of the Community Development Department. 

• Direct, plan, and organize Community Development services, programs, budget, and operations.  

• Manage budgeting, resource allocation, and performance metrics to optimize department efficiency and service delivery. 

• Craft and implement department and City objectives, goals, policies, and performance metrics within guidelines established by the City Council and City Manager.  

• Exercise a high degree of judgment and discretion along with political acumen and an understanding of the needs of the business community. 

• Serve as back-up liaison to the Planning Commission.  

• Performs other administrative duties as required to support each division within the department.   

CURRENT PRIORITIES AND INITIATIVES

The Community Development Department is experiencing a high volume of development applications, including residential, commercial, assisted living, and industrial projects. In addition, there is significant interest in downtown revitalization, including mixed-use projects. Some key initiatives on the horizon for the Deputy Community Development Director – Operations include: 

• Assisting with the ongoing implementation of the General Plan 

• Administration of process improvement initiatives, including e-planning and e-permitting  

• Leading staff to be innovative, collaborative, excel in community outreach, promote continuous improvement and continue moving forward in an enthusiastic and professional manner 

• Shaping and positively influencing the Community Development Department environment by supporting a culture of collaboration and project ownership by employees  

• Identification, development and promotion of innovative strategies and technological solutions to maximize service delivery. Working across department lines to promote collaboration in order to improve efficiencies 

• Development and implementation of key performance metrics to measure operational effectiveness, identify areas of success and areas for improvement  

• Planning and executing staffing and operational strategies to provide high quality, cost-effective services to external and internal customers 

• Refining the Land Management System, including coordinating the zoning code update, specific plans, and supporting the implementation of the Housing Element

The Department

The Parks and Recreation Department is the third largest department in the City and is organized by program area, with each program administered by a supervisor, coordinator, or specialist. The Parks and Recreation Department is composed of a Director and 22 full-time management positions. The department is comprised of the Recreation, Parks, and Building Maintenance divisions. The Parks and Recreation Department mission is to provide opportunities for physical, cultural and social well being; protect and enhance the physical environment; and ensure the effective and efficient use of public facilities and open space.

The Building Maintenance Division maintains 32 facilities totaling more than 563,000 square feet and over 275 acres of park land. The division provides janitorial, preventative maintenance services, and necessary building and related equipment repairs to all of the City's facilities, including interior and exterior work. The division also performs a variety of tasks, which include moving furniture, set-ups, and many other miscellaneous tasks as required. 

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of methods, materials, tools, equipment, and techniques used in performing custodial repair and maintenance; occupational hazards and safety practices and procedures related to the work; and techniques for dealing with the public, City staff, and representatives of contractors in an effective manner. The ideal Building Maintenance Custodian will also have the ability to maintain proper standards of cleanliness in assigned areas; follow written and verbal instructions; maintain basic records; and use materials, tools, and equipment safely and effectively form physical labor, including periodic heavy labor.

The Position

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (may include but are not limited to the following):

• Sweeps, mops, waxes and polishes floors; shampoos and cares for carpets and rugs.
• Dusts and polishes woodwork, furniture, fixtures and equipment; wash windows, walls and other fixtures.
• Empties and cleans trash containers and wastebaskets; picks up paper and other debris.
• Cleans rest rooms and maintain supplies.
• Locks and unlocks doors, as necessary, provides for other forms of building security.
• Sets up rooms for meetings and other special events.
• May deliver materials and supplies to and from City locations.
• Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be:

Experience: One year of janitorial experience 

Training: Equivalent to graduation from high school.

Licenses/Certificates: Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid California driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record, which must be maintained as a condition of employment.

The City of Menlo Park is seeking engineering professionals, with exceptional technical and project management skills, for Senior Civil Engineer positions in the Public Works Department (Department) Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Division. The Senior Engineer will lead capital improvement projects under the supervision of the City Engineer or Public Works Director. The CIP team delivers projects for City owned facilities including streets, buildings, storm and domestic water, and parks. The Senior Civil Engineer is responsible for executing CIP projects from planning through completion and managing assigned staff.

About the Department

The Public Works Department consists of approximately 72 full time employees and is responsible for maintaining and improving the City’s streets, parks, water and stormwater systems, traffic signals, fleet, and public buildings.  Public Works provides many of the basic services affecting the daily lives of everyone living, working, visiting, and commuting within the City, including:  

• 26 City-owned buildings/facilities and their grounds
• A fleet of over 250 vehicles and pieces of equipment
• 97 miles of streets
• Drinking water delivery for 16,000 customers
• Flood protection and stormwater management programs particularly along the San Francisco Bay, San Francisquito Creek and Atherton Channel
• 14 parks, 2 open spaces, 14 playgrounds, 2 dog parks, 9 sports fields, and 14 tennis/pickleball courts
• Efforts to preserve and expand the urban canopy, including 20,000 public trees
• Multimodal transportation services including 42 traffic signals, safe routes to schools and citywide shuttle programs. 

The department has nearly a $40 million operating budget supported by over 25 different special/dedicated funding sources for the varied programs and services provided to the community. In addition, the City has an approximate $100 million capital improvement program, in part due to a successful track record in pursuing grants from a variety of local, state and federal sources. Some of the exciting efforts on the horizon include efforts to protect the San Francisco Bay shoreline and adjacent community from sea level rise; efforts to eliminate the City’s reliance on fossil fuels through building and fleet electrification; making investments in transportation safety through strategic quick-build projects and large infrastructure changes like a pedestrian/bicycle undercrossing at Caltrain; and ensuring the equitable delivery of services throughout the entire city in alignment with the goals and programs developed as part of the city’s first environmental justice element underway.

Description

The Town of Colma Recreation Services Department is currently accepting applications for Recreation Leaders for Summer 2025.  The Recreation Department provides programs and activities for Colma residents of all ages ranging from infants to seniors. Program elements include fitness, enrichment, cultural events, special events, sporting events, trips, and community events. It is the goal of the Recreation Department to offer a balanced program ensuring all elements are offered to all age groups throughout the year.
