The Silliman Family Aquatic Center Lifeguard Academy is for those seeking employment with the City of Newark. The Newark Recreation and Community Services Department is looking for Lifeguards for our fantastic swim lessons and aquatic programs at the Silliman Activity & Family Aquatic Center. RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Under direct supervision of the Aquatics Coordinator, Lifeguards will ensure the safety of facility patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies
• Maintaining constant surveillance of patrons in the facility
• Acting immediately and appropriately to ensure the safety of patrons in the event of an emergency/Providing emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services
• Performing various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility
• Having a thorough knowledge of rescue techniques

The Waterpark EMT is responsible for responding to emergencies and providing efficient and immediate care to the critically ill/injured at Adventure Waterpark. In addition, The EMT provides security services as needed. The EMT is expected to work weekends and holidays on a regular basis.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES (This is a general description of duties and is not all-inclusive)

• Functions within the scope of care as defined by state, regional, and local regulatory agencies
• Provide outstanding customer service while performing assigned duties, including interpreting and conveying information throughout the Waterpark
• Ability to open/maintain an airway, administer CPR, control hemorrhage, bandage wounds, immobilize extremities, administer oxygen, and other duties within the scope of practice
• Respond to emergencies in a timely and safe manner
• Recognize hazardous situations and contain area until help arrives

• Provide public security services during the course of the day and for Admin at closing
• Uphold all rules and regulations of the Waterpark

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be 18 years or older
• Possess E.M.T. certification with experience in the field, and submit verification upon hire

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

Position Summary

Under general supervision, operates a variety of transit vehicles to transport passengers along specific, assigned routes according to the District's requirements. Provide service in a safe, courteous and reliable manner. Responsible for written reports and other information as required. Upon completion of the Golden Gate Transit Training Program, the employee operates regularly scheduled assignments. All runs will originate in either Santa Rosa, Novato or San Rafael.

Hourly Pay: $31.29/hour to $36.81/hour

 If selected for the position, new hires will need to complete Golden Gate Bridge, Highway & Transportation District’s Bus Operator Apprenticeship Program ($31.29/hr benefits not included) which is approximately twelve (12) weeks, Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Upon successful completion of training, pay increase granted to $33.13 per hour, plus benefits. All new hires will be required to complete a 120 probationary period upon completion of training.

The Challenge

As a Police Officer your duties will typically include patrolling assigned areas; interacting with the public; conducting criminal investigations; enforcing laws; investigating collisions; preserving the peace and writing reports. You will be assigned to one of three shifts spanning the 24-hour day and these shifts will periodically change. In the Patrol Section you will work three 12 hour and 20-minute workdays and have four days off. If you are assigned to any other Section, you will work four 10-hour workdays with three days off.
