The award-winning San José Public Library (SJPL) consists of more than 600 employees, a 23% bilingual workforce, and has 24 branch libraries across San José, in addition to the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library, which is the city’s main library jointly operated through a unique partnership with San José State University. Position Duties

San José Public Library(SJPL) is recruiting a Senior Librarian to join the Library's Public Engagement Division as the Web Services Manager. This position will help shape, maintain, and enhance the Library’s digital presence and web-based platforms, including: 

1. Public Website (www.sjpl.org)

2. Library catalog and events calendar

3. Joint website with San José State University King Library (www.sjlibrary.org)

4. Sierra - Integrated Library System (ILS) 

5. SharePoint

6. SJPL Blog Team

7. External digital library profiles and public-facing platforms (Google My Business & Apple Business Connect)
    

The Web Services Manager will serve as the primary point of contact for all web-related matters and is responsible for the development, maintenance, and performance of the Library’s web infrastructure. Responsibilities also include troubleshooting web issues, ensuring accessibility, and security compliance.

This position will supervise a team of two full-time and one part-time staff members, and will work collaboratively with internal stakeholders, Library leadership, external partners, and vendors to ensure seamless integration and functionality across platforms.

In addition, the Web Services Manager will also actively participate in the City’s Digital Privacy and Artificial Intelligence Working Groups, and up hold Library privacy and ethics standards. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Serve as project manager and technical subject matter expert for all web-related initiatives

• Lead the team in developing and maintaining engaging, accessible, and user-friendly digital content

• Collaborate with the Library’s Marketing and Communications Unit to align web content with SJPL’s branding, public awareness campaigns, and strategic initiatives

• Oversee compliance with ADA standards, digital and data privacy, readability, and language access

• Conduct regular audits of website content, performance, and security, as well accessibility and usability testing

• Perform scheduled website maintenance and updates 

• Analyze and report on web analytics to inform improvements and enhance user engagement utilizing Google Analytics and Looker Studio

• Stay up to date with emerging digital and technology trends relevant to libraries and public sector

Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Develop and manage websites, web applications, and custom code 

• Apply knowledge of SEO tools and strategies

• Evaluate, pilot, and implement new web tools and solutions

• Web content management systems and optimization

• Review vendor privacy policies and guide staff on privacy best practices

• Understanding of AI ethics and implementation

• Vendor management

• Apply user experience (UX) principles to improve usability and design

• Proficiency with platforms such as SharePoint, Sierra, Beanstack, Gtranslate, SpringShare, and Bibliocommons

The Role:

The City of Redwood City is seeking Firefighter Trainees who, under immediate supervision, actively participate in the Firefighter Academy training program. Trainees perform all related learning and testing activities in preparation for the Firefighter/Engineer classification within the Fire Department of the City of Redwood City.  See Firefighter Trainee job description for more details. We’re looking for a highly motivated, reliable and skilled individual to join the Public Works Department in the position of Cross Connection Control Specialist.  Working in the Utilities Section, you will oversee the City’s cross-connection control program, including backflow device testing and cross-connection control related inspections.  You will join a fast-paced, dynamic team environment, serving the City’s residents, visitors and business community by providing exceptional customer service. Review our detailed job description here.

What You'll Do:

• Conduct cross-connection surveys and tests to identify potential cross-connections to the water system. 
• Monitor the provision of backflow prevention at user connections. 
• Provide technical supervision over maintenance staff performing backflow prevention assembly installation, repair, inspection, and testing.
• Inspect potable and recycled water systems to determine the existence of cross connections and recommend corrective actions as necessary.
• Test, install, repair, and maintain backflow prevention assemblies.
• Perform plan reviews to ensure proper water system connections.   Identify potential cross-connections and provide written comments.
• Maintain records of installations, locations, tests, and repairs of backflow prevention assemblies.

The Essentials:

Cross-Connection Control Specialist

• Two years of experience in water system maintenance, equivalent to the responsibilities of a Water Utility Worker in the City of Mountain View
• Equivalent to completion of the 12th grade supplemented by approved courses of instruction in the theory, laws, regulations, and techniques of backflow prevention and/or cross-connection control.
• Possession of a valid California Class C driver’s license.
• Possession of an AWWA Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester Certificate and a California Water Resources Control Board Water Distribution Operator Grade 1 Certificate.  
• Possession of an AWWA Cross-Connection Control Specialist Certificate within one year of appointment.  

Bonus Points:

• Experience administering a water system cross-connection inspection program is highly desirable.
• Completion of a recycled water site supervisor’s training class is highly desirable.

ABOUT ALLCOVE:
allcove™ https://allcove.org/ is a youth drop-in center model that has evolved from the Head Space Program in Australia and Foundry Program in British Columbia, Canada. PHCD is working closely with Stanford’s Center for Youth Mental Health and Well Being (CYMHWB) leadership who have been instrumental in defining the model for California and successfully influencing the State of California Mental Health Services & Oversight Accountability Commission (MHSOAC) to provide start up grants for five pilot centers around the State.
