The Yuba County Sheriff’s Department is currently accepting applications to establish an eligibility list for the classification of Correctional Officer.  Under continuing supervision incumbents perform a wide variety of support in two areas: corrections, in which incumbents ensure the security, safety and care of individuals in custody; and bailiff, in which incumbents ensure the safety and security of the courts and their personnel during court proceedings; and perform related work as assigned. Incumbents may be assigned to either County Jail security or Court security.

The Yuba County Sheriff's Department is responsible for the administration of the Yuba County Jail and Jail staff. The Mission of the Yuba County Jail is to provide safe, efficient, humane and secure custody of all persons incarcerated. The county prisoner population is made up of those who are sentenced to county jail, those serving state prison sentences in the county jail under AB109, and those who are pre-trial and who have not yet been sentenced. The jail provides a necessary link in the criminal justice system. There are numerous programs operating within the facility including medical, kitchen, exercise, commissary, visiting, law library, inmate education, work programs, work furlough program, and inmate classification.

About The Position:

The County of Yuba is actively recruiting to fill current vacancies and establish an eligibility list for the position of Deputy Sheriff. Deputy Sheriff’s perform a wide variety of patrol officer and related duties required to effectively respond to and resolve the normal scope of peace situations, including the protection of life and property, enforcement of laws and ordinances, criminal investigation, report writing, crime prevention and suppression, case preparation and testimony, and providing information and assistance to the public and perform related duties as assigned. Reporting directly to the City Manager, this position is responsible for executive direction, strategic leadership, and management of the Public Works Department, including City maintenance workers and capital improvement projects. 

As the principal administrator of the Public Works Department, the Director; plans, organizes, directs, reviews and manages all department activities and functions including Engineering, Parks and Recreation, Streets, Public Facilities, Wastewater Treatment/Sewage, and Storm Water Management.

Education and Certification

Licenses: Possess valid California Class C Driver’s License.

Experience

Incumbents must have a minimum of three (3) years of managerial experience directly involving municipal services such as public works, public utilities, capital improvement project management, parks maintenance and management, and/or street and facilities maintenance.

The County of Yuba is recruiting for both Extra-Help and Full-Time Juvenile Corrections Officers I/II, in an effort to fill current vacancies and expand staffing levels. These positions are located on the Tri-County Youth Rehabilitation Campus which falls under the Juvenile Institutions Division of the Yuba County Probation Department.  The primary responsibilities of this flexibly staffed position are to: provide care, custody, supervision, and control of youth housed in the secured detention facilities while they are pending legal action or serving a post adjudication commitment; ensure and sustain a safe and secure environment for youth; and coordinate counseling and behavior modification activities associated with the operation of the facilities.

About Detention Services & Yuba County:

Our Department believes people can change and we can be instrumental in supporting that change.  We are  a small workplace family that supports one another to accomplish our mission and allow our team members to live full lives outside the workplace. Our Campus provides youth detention services to the communities of Yuba, Sutter, and Colusa Counties as well as several contract counties through our Camp Singer program.  We operate 24 hours a day, 365 days per year, and includes the Tri-County Juvenile Hall, Secure Housing Unit, and Maxine Singer Youth Guidance Center (Camp Singer), under a Joint Powers Agreement between the three counties. Our Department is the administrative agency responsible for the management and daily operation of the facility. The Land Stewardship & Trails Department is Midpen’s largest, with over 70 employees during construction season. This position requires strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members who may be geographically dispersed. The Area Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day administrative operations of their assigned field office and has supervisory responsibility over one administrative assistant and supervisory level staff.  Each geographical area consists of up to 18 full-time staff members as well as seasonal staff. The ideal candidate will be an accomplished professional with a highly collaborative management style, strong emotional intelligence, and interpersonal skills. Key responsibilities include:

• Assumes management responsibility for all maintenance and operations functions and activities of the field office, including maintenance of preserves, public access, facilities, vehicles, and resource management.

The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the position of Senior Civil Engineer in the Public Works Division of the Community Development and Services Agency. Under limited supervision, the Senior Civil Engineer will perform the more difficult professional engineering work including the preparation of civil design plans for various Public Works projects, conducting research studies, performing field inspections and testing, analyzing reports, maps, drawings, or geological data, and procuring permits; act as a resource to staff, contracts, consultants, other agencies and the public regarding areas of assignment; provide lead direction and technical assistance to assigned staff and/or project management; and perform related work as assigned. Incumbents are fully qualified to perform all duties specified as a Professional Engineer by the State of California. This is the master level in the civil engineer series, and reports directly to Principal Engineer.

Examples of Duties:

• Review plans and inspect projects; provide engineering design and code information and ensure that designs meet accepted industry and legal standards, and projects are biddable and buildable.
• Interpret and explain complex and technical laws, codes and regulations and provide information related to Public Works Engineering activities; may receive and respond to complaints and recommend corrective action as necessary.
• Initiate and maintain professional relationships with other departments, businesses, local community and professional organizations.
