Do you have a passion for helping others? Are you a Human Resources professional eager to take on challenging work and contribute your ideas as part of a collaborative team? Do you want to make a meaningful impact in a charming and diverse community? Turn your passion into a career in public service with the City of Menlo Park!
We are seeking an empathetic, customer-service oriented individual able to put their research and analytical skills to work to help ensure that Human Resources is seen as a trusted, consistent, and responsive partner to help departments solve problems and our fellow employees thrive.
Here in Menlo Park, we get excited about supporting our team’s professional growth, because we recognize that people are our most important asset. As an integral part of our tight-knit Human Resources team, the Management Analyst will support our day-to-day operations and have opportunities to take on challenging projects, improve our processes, and help shape the future of our organizational culture. Our Human Resources team currently has six members, and we are expanding to add a seventh to help build more capacity to serve the organization.
The Management Analyst should be a subject-matter expert in multiple areas of human resources, such as: recruitment, employee compensation and benefits, labor relations, employee relations, workers' compensation, and training and development. Responsibilities include prioritizing and assigning work, training and mentoring city staff, and demonstrating the ability to manage multiple projects and services.
As part of the Administrative Services Department, we believe that it is our people and the power of teamwork that enable us to succeed. We believe that how we get our work done is as important as getting the job done. Our values guide how we behave as a team each day, acting with:
- Humility – Sharing credit and defining success collectively rather than individually, jumping in to help where we are needed, and putting the needs of the team ahead of our own self-interest.
- Emotional Intelligence – Understanding the impact that our words and actions have on one another, knowing when to listen and when to share our perspective, and striving to include everyone by respecting, listening to, helping, and appreciating one another.
- Passion – Showing initiative and enthusiasm in our work, delivering outstanding, data-based results, and having a can-do, find-a-way attitude.
- Integrity – Doing what we say we are going to do, communicating clearly and openly, and holding ourselves accountable for the work we do in our respective roles.
The City offers hybrid and flexible schedule options. The Management Analyst position is eligible for a 9/80 schedule (every other Friday off) and working from home 1-2 days per week.
