CIVIC FELLOW PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The City of Woodland has established a paid summer fellow program for individuals early in their career seeking public service experience. This program invests in our local workforce and fosters a passion for careers in the public sector. During the eight (8)-week program, fellows will work with a City department and participate in program-wide activities.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The City of Woodland Public Library is seeking a motivated and creative Library Fellow to lead a hands-on, project-based program for children in our makerspace, Square One. This fellowship provides an immersive opportunity to gain practical experience in program development, youth engagement, and community collaboration within a library setting.

The Fellow will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing a part-time day camp program for elementary-aged students that encourages creativity, problem-solving, and hands-on learning. This includes evaluating existing curriculum, identifying areas for enhancement, and developing new project-based activities that align with educational best practices and the library’s mission.

Key responsibilities include:

• Program Development: Plan engaging, age-appropriate projects and activities for the makerspace, ensuring alignment with learning goals and safety guidelines.
• Scheduling & Logistics: Develop detailed program schedules, coordinate staffing, and manage materials and resources to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
• Community Partnerships: Collaborate with local schools, community organizations, and volunteers to enhance program offerings and broaden outreach.
• Curriculum Evaluation: Assess program effectiveness through feedback, observation, and data collection, and implement improvements to enhance learning outcomes and participant engagement.
• Support & Collaboration: Work closely with Square One staff to receive guidance, share insights, and integrate feedback, while contributing independently to the program’s success.

This fellowship offers a comprehensive and all-encompassing experience in youth program coordination, educational design, and community engagement. The Fellow will develop skills in planning, leadership, communication, and collaboration, while making a meaningful impact on Woodland’s youth through innovative learning experiences in a library makerspace setting.

THE POSITION OBJECTIVES/GOALS
The goal of the position is:

QUALIFICATIONS

• 4+ years of high school
• Local Woodland knowledge preferred
• Strong interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills

• Ability to build and maintain trust-based relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders 
• Eligible to work in the United States
• Valid California driver license (if driving is an essential duty)

 

SALARY RANGE
$20.00 - $25.00 / hour dependent on experience.

 

The pay cycle is bi-weekly.  No other benefits compensations are provided except for worker's compensation coverage and sick leave.  Employees must contribute 1.45% of their salary to Medicare and 7.5% to a retirement plan under Federal Law.

The Combination Inspector is responsible for performing the building, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical inspections.  Each Inspector may be assigned to one or more of the following Programs or specialties: Code Enforcement, Building, Electrical, Permit Center, and Plumbing & Mechanical.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

 

Minimum Education Requirements:

Graduation from high school or possession of a G.E.D.

 

Minimum Experience Requirements:

Five (5) years of experience as a journey person in the building construction or related trades

 

OR

 

Three (3) years of experience as a Combination Inspector in a city or county inspection jurisdiction

 

OR

 

Possession of a State of California license as a general (B-l) or electrical (C-10) or plumbing (C-36) or heating, ventilating, air conditioning (C-20) contractor for a minimum of two (2) years

Assistant Engineer I - Civil: $112,985.60 - $144,539.20 Annually
Assistant Engineer II - Civil: $124,696.00 - $159,619.20 Annually

Overview:

The Assistant Engineer I/II in the Construction Management Services Unit performs essential execution-level civil engineering and construction management support functions for Valley Water capital construction projects. This position performs professional engineering tasks related to managing construction contracts, including reviewing and processing contractor submittals and requests for information (RFIs), interpreting contract documents, evaluating design changes, and supporting change orders and construction claims. The Assistant Engineer I/II provides continuity during the transition from pre-construction into construction by supporting constructability review, contract administration setup, early contractor coordination, and issue resolution as work progresses. The role supports project delivery by providing timely technical analysis and coordination support under the direction of Associate and Senior Engineering staff to manage construction risks related to cost, schedule, and compliance.

Ideal Knowledge:

Construction Management Services Unit (Position Code 519)
Valley Water Telework Program: Eligibility for telework will depend on the type of work performed, operational needs, and the ability for the employee to perform the essential functions of their job duties while teleworking. Employment with Valley Water requires employees to live within 150 miles of their primary physical work location located in San Jose, California by their start date.

 

This position is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule, typically working 40% remote and 60% onsite.

The City of Gilroy is recruiting to fill the limited-term position of Code Enforcement in the Community Development Department, Building Division.

The Code Enforcement Officer will respond to citizen concerns and proactively identify violations such as property maintenance issues, and zoning infractions. You will educate the public on code requirements through clear and respectful communication and work collaboratively with other city departments and external agencies to resolve issues. The Code Enforcement Officer is distinguished from the Supervisor by performing work of moderate difficulty and more routine tasks and duties assigned to this position within this classification series. These tasks involve inspections and enforcement of applicable ordinances pertaining to residential and commercial properties, housing, building construction, and other related regulations. Additionally, the Code Enforcement Officer will issue notices, citations, and follow up on compliance efforts in a fair and consistent manner. It is also imperative that the Code Enforcement Officer maintain accurate case files and documentation for possible legal proceedings.

This candidate demonstrates proficiency with design and media tools (such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar software) and has a foundational understanding of branding, layout, and visual storytelling. The Gilroy Police Department is seeking a motivated and community-minded undergraduate Police Administration Intern interested in gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic law enforcement environment. Working closely with Maintenance, Operations, and Facilities staff, the Fellow will help research best practices and develop practical recommendations to improve environmental outcomes and operational efficiency.
