ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Gilroy is recruiting for a full-time Accounting Assistant I in the Finance Department. This position will primarily be assigned to the Utility Billing/Information Desk area, providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers, and performing cashiering and accounting-related work. The Finance Department’s goal is to provide timely and accurate financial information to City Management, City Council, and the public, while responsibly managing the City’s assets, including cash and investments.

Under the direct supervision of the Finance Manager or Supervising Accounting Technician, the Accounting Assistant will perform a wide variety of accounting and statistical record-keeping assignments related to maintaining financial and statistical records. This position may provide support in one or more of the following areas: accounts receivable, accounts payable, utility billing, and/or the front information desk.

This role offers opportunities to build foundational experience in municipal finance and may serve as a steppingstone to the Accounting Assistant II classification, depending on performance and experience gained.

The Code Enforcement Officer is distinguished from the Supervisor by performing work of moderate difficulty and more routine tasks and duties assigned to this position within this classification series. Additionally, the Code Enforcement Officer will issue notices, citations, and follow up on compliance efforts in a fair and consistent manner. The Gilroy Police Department is seeking a motivated and community-minded undergraduate Police Administration Intern interested in gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic law enforcement environment. Position Duties

The salary range for the Senior Power Resources Specialist Classification is:
$147,005.04 - $180,070.80 Annually
This salary range includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates’ qualifications and experience.

The Energy Department is seeking to fill one (1) full-time Senior Regulatory Compliance & Policy Manager (Senior Power Resources Specialist) position for the Regulatory Compliance & Policy Division. This position reports directly to the Deputy Director of the Regulatory Compliance & Policy Division and will provide technical analysis, assess the potential business impacts to SJCE from proposed regulatory changes, and provide expert public representation.

Under general direction of the Deputy Director, the Senior Regulatory Compliance & Policy Manager will be responsible for engaging in the increasing number of complex electric regulatory proceedings and effectively advocating for the business interests of SJCE at the  California Public Utilities Commission (“CPUC”), the California Energy Commission (CEC), and California Independent System Operator (“CAISO”) to protect and advance San José business and community interests. Typical duties of this position may include, but are not limited to:

• Monitoring and advising internal staff about the progress of regulatory policy and rate-related proceedings
• Performing independent analysis of the possible operational impacts of rate cases and regulatory proceedings
• Representing SJCE before regulatory bodies and on external working groups
• Keeping abreast of key regulatory issues affecting CCAs, and assisting in prioritizing proceedings
• Developing formal written comments to regulatory agencies and advising on advocacy strategy
• Working with other internal teams to share and learn relevant information
• Other duties as assigned     

Minimum Qualifications

Education 
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Economics, Engineering, Environmental Studies, Law, Natural Resources, Statistics, or related field to utility business.

Experience

Three (3) years of experience in energy resources operations, planning, purchasing, scheduling, or contract negotiations.

Possession of a valid State of California driver’s license is required.

THIS IS A HYBRID POSITION, REQUIRING PART OF THE WORK WEEK TO BE ONSITE IN THE DOWNTOWN SAN JOSE OFFICE. The hybrid work schedule may change due to the department’s business needs in the future.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Gilroy is recruiting an undergraduate or graduate-level City Emergency Management College Summer Intern for the summer of 2026. This internship will provide a significant opportunity to gain experience and exposure and accumulate skills that are used daily in city government emergency management programs that make substantial impacts to the community. The Emergency Management Team works year-round to ensure that community is prepared for disasters through planning, training, outreach, and coordination with local and regional partners. Working under the supervision of the Emergency Services and Volunteer Coordinator, the Emergency Management Intern will assist with planning, preparedness, outreach, and administrative functions that support OEM programs and Emergency Operations Center (EOC) readiness. The Administrative Aide (Hourly City Worker) is a part-time, hourly, at-will position that involves working approximately 15-25 hours per week, not to exceed 29 hours in a week, or 1000 hours per fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th).  

Exact working hours will vary depending on the department or work location and will be between Monday - Friday. We currently have one opening at our City Hall/Civic Arts Plaza building with our Cultural & Community Services Department.

Primary duties may include but are not limited to:

An exciting opportunity is available to join the City of Santa Clara’s Water & Sewer Utilities Department as a Code Enforcement Officer. This position offers the chance to be part of a small, dedicated team in the Compliance Division, supporting critical programs that protect and manage the City’s water distribution system, sewer collection system, and recycled water system.

The Position: 

The Code Enforcement Officer will conduct inspections, lead investigations and complete plan reviews. The Code Enforcement Officer will also determine violations and work towards compliance related to storm water pollution, sanitary sewer overflows, water waste incidents, fats, oils and grease (FOG) source control, recycled water, and related municipal codes and ordinances. Additionally, the incumbent will complete various water, sewer, and recycled water sampling.

Minimum Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum Education Requirements: 

An Associate's Degree in City or Urban Planning, Business Administration, Construction Technology, Environmental Science, or closely related field.

Minimum Experience Requirements: 

Two (2) years of experience in public contact work involving zoning administrative investigation, building inspection or investigation, industrial/commercial pretreatment inspections, or stormwater pollution control, one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.

Acceptable Substitution: 

One (1) year of additional related experience may be substituted for each year, up to two years of the required education.

License/Certifications: 

Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license is required at time of appointment and for the duration of employment.

For the Public Works Department:
A recognized professional certification within the stormwater management field (QSP, QISP, CSM, CESSWI, CPESC, CPMSM, etc.) within twelve (12) months of appointment and for the duration of employment.
 
 For the Water and Sewer Utilities Department:
 A Grade II Environmental Compliance Inspector Certification issued by the California Water Environment Association within twelve (12) months of appointment and for the duration of employment.
 A Water Distribution Operators Certification from the State Water Resources Control Board is desirable.
 A Cross-Connection Control Program Specialist Certification from the American Water Works Association is desirable.

Desirable Qualifications: 

A Bachelor's Degree in City or Urban Planning, Business Administration, Construction Technology, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or closely related field is desirable.
A Code Enforcement Officer Certification by the California Association of Code Enforcement Officers (CACEO) is desirable.

Other Requirements:  

May be required to occasionally work evenings and weekends.
Must be able to perform all of the essential functions of the job assignment.
