The City of Thousand Oaks is seeking enthusiastic and service-oriented individuals to join our team!  As an Administrative Aide (Part-time, Hourly City Worker), you will interact with a broad range of customers and play an important role in delivering extraordinary customer service to City residents and customers.  The Administrative Aide will serve as a primary contact for City departments and maintain positive and professional customer relationships by responding promptly to inquiries and finding solutions.  

 

The Administrative Aide (Hourly City Worker) is a part-time, hourly, at-will position that involves working approximately 15-25 hours per week, not to exceed 29 hours in a week, or 1000 hours per fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th).  

 

Exact working hours will vary depending on the department or work location and will be between Monday - Friday. We currently have one opening at our City Hall/Civic Arts Plaza building with our Cultural & Community Services Department.

The eligibility list established from this recruitment may be used for vacancies within the City as they occur.

 

Primary duties may include but are not limited to:

• Provide clerical and administrative support for assigned department
• Greet clients/customers; answer incoming phone calls (may include multi-line phone system), and handle incoming and outgoing mail and email
• Respond to customer inquiries
• Organize and maintain file systems
• Maintain databases and ensure attention to detail when entering data
• Perform basic data analysis and prepare routine reports
• Support the day-to-day activities of assigned department

 

Additional, department/division-specific duties may include:

Transit:

• Assisting in developing community outreach and marketing plans
• Tracking expenses, reimbursements, and budgets

Sausalito Parks and Recreation is Seeking Vibrant Skilled Recreation Leaders 

This recruitment is for spring, summer and fall events and activities beginning March 9th, such as Bocce and Volleyball Referee, Jazz and Blues, Fourth of July, Chili Cook-off, A Toast to Sausalito, Halloween and other fun classes, activities, and events. Ideal candidates will be available to referee Monday through Thursday each week and/or to staff events on Friday evenings from June through August and occasional Saturdays. 

Pay: $16.90 - $17.90/ Hr.

The City of Sausalito is recruiting part-time temporary help for the spring, summer, and fall seasons of recreation activities and City-wide events.  The first of these is the Bocce League referee.  

Bocce Referee
As a Sausalito Parks and Recreation Bocce Referee, you are responsible for set-up, management, and cleanup of scheduled Bocce matches. You are the enforcer of rules, an impartial judge, and an advocate for fun and fair play, all while maintaining a positive attitude and providing a friendly environment when communicating with teams and keeping score. This position reports directly to the Recreation Supervisor.  The ideal candidate must meet all minimum requirements as listed below and be confident and capable of dealing with conflict and intense games.  

Event Staff

As a Sausalito Parks and Recreation Event Staff member, you are responsible for actively participating in set-up, cleanup, and management of your assigned event.  You must arrive on time and remain until the event leader releases you after the event.   Event staff may set up chairs, tables, stages, corridors, and barriers.  You may be asked to perform traffic control or direct drivers to parking.  The ideal candidate will have a can-do attitude, meet all of the minimum requirements below, remain calm under pressure and in the face of adversity, be cheerful, friendly, and love the diversity of people. 

The minimum requirements for the position are:

• Reliable transportation to and from games or events
• Ability and commitment to arrive on time and remain until duties are completed and you are released
• Confidence and capability to manage conflict with grace and calm

The Police Communications Dispatcher receives and processes routine and emergency calls. The incumbent will dispatch police and enter, retrieve, and use data from various automated law enforcement information systems. The successful candidate will coordinate with and transfer calls to other emergency service providers as appropriate. The individual will perform a variety of clerical and technical duties in support of the department’s operations. In addition, they will learn applicable policies, procedures, and work methods associated with assigned duties, and perform other related duties as required. This recruitment is to fill a full-time and per-diem position and create a list for anticipated future vacancies. We will be creating two lists, one for already POST-certified dispatchers and one for entry-level dispatchers.

Summary:
Under general supervision, performs skilled and unskilled maintenance duties and patrol; encourages the safe and effective promotion, protection and utilization of park resources and open-space preserves; and performs other related duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Interprets and explains park policies, rules and regulations to the public; answers inquiries and complaints concerning park conditions, operations and maintenance.

• Maintains stream crossings, hiking, biking and equestrian trails utilizing tractors and specialized trail-building equipment.
• Participates in custodial, carpentry, plumbing, maintenance and cleanup of park and open-space   structures and grounds.
• Plans, develops, coordinates and executes work programs and resource management projects.
• Assists in maintaining park water distribution and irrigation systems.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience: A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: an Associate of Science degree with work in natural resources or a closely related field, and one year of experi­ence in trail care, protection of flora and fauna, public facilities care, law enforcement and interpretation; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to read, analyze and interpret common professional and technical journals and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from visitors. Ability to write routine reports and present information to the public.

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Certificates and Licenses:

• First Aid/CPR/AED certification required within 90 days of employment with ability to maintain certifications thereafter as a condition of employment.

Under general supervision, performs technical paraprofessional accounting duties including payroll processing and accounts receivables and payables for Conejo Recreation & Park District (CRPD) and Mountain Recreation & Conservation Authority (MRCA); prepares accounting records and journal entries as necessary; generates reports and reconciles data; and performs other related duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of technical duties to ensure accurate and timely data entry and processing of various financial records; documents financial transactions in general ledger accounts; reconciles bank, accounting and payroll data; analyzes journal entries; corrects discrepancies.
• Compiles timesheets from District and MRCA employees, inputs payroll data into payroll system, prints proof list and verifies hours; corrects errors in time reporting; processes payroll and allocates payroll costs to budget appropriation accounts.
• Calculates and prepares payment for a variety of taxes including sales tax, payroll taxes and income withholdings; assists with issuance of employee, contractor and vendor tax statements.
• Processes routine and special check runs; validates accuracy of coding and payments and prepares checks for mailing or distribution.
• Prepares direct deposit, warrants and wire transfer information for approval and transmittal to the bank before established deadlines; prepares bank deposits.
• Maintains independent contractor and vendor records and databases including contracts, payment and ACH information.
• Assists with generating financial reports, spreadsheets and records; maintains purchase order file and records expenses; scans and files data and documents in accordance with District and MRCA records management policies and procedures.
• Gathers statement backup and reconciles Cal-Card statements; processes approved payments.
• Researches and answers District and MRCA employee and department inquiries regarding payroll, reimbursements and general status inquiries.  

Other Duties and Responsibilities

• Provides backup to divisional administrative staff.
• Assists in research and preparation of data for payroll and financial audits and special reports requested by auditors, MRCA administrators, and other public agencies.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to analyze and reconcile fiscal recording, banking and payroll records. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions provided in written or oral form.
