The City of Brisbane is currently recruiting for non-sworn Police Officer Trainee candidates. This is for individuals that have no prior law enforcement experience and have not received POST certified police academy training. Trainees are paid while attending a POST-certified Police Academy. Upon successful completion of the police academy and upon availability of a Police Officer position, trainees are eligible to be sworn in as a Police Officer and become eligible for salary and benefits as outlined in the Brisbane Police Officers Association Memorandum of Understanding.

About the Department
The Budget Office operates under the leadership of the Budget Director who reports to the City Manager.  Supported by a staff of 19, the Office is responsible for all functions associated with the development and monitoring of San José’s budget for over 135 funds (General Fund, Special Funds, and Capital Funds) in alignment with the goals of the City Council.  Budget staff are responsible for preparing and publishing all budget documents, forecasting revenues, and, on a regular basis, performing analysis of budget and/or service-level related issues, and supporting performance measures tracking and data-driven service delivery.  The Budget Office has a dynamic action-oriented culture that offers flexibility within a mutually supportive and cooperative environment, working with colleagues across departments to resolve complex fiscal issues.  Professional staff succeed in a team-centric atmosphere of high expectations where quality contributions and achievements are acknowledged and celebrated.

Position Duties

This recruitment is intended to fill one permanent Analyst I/II position.

The Budget Analyst position in the City Manager’s Office is responsible for operating and/or capital budgetary analysis assignments for a City Service Area (CSA) and several City departments, including assisting their assigned CSA/departments in the development of their operating/capital budgets; analysis of revenue and expenditure projections; coordination and presentation of budget information to the City Manager as appropriate; preparation of the City's annual Operating and/or Capital Budgets, Annual Report, Mid-Year Budget Review, and Fees and Charges Report; review of budget-related departmental requests; collaboration with departments to resolve budgetary issues; review of City Council memoranda for budget implications and appropriate budget language, if necessary; supporting performance measures tracking; conducting research on budget and policy-related matters; and special projects as assigned. During critical times of the year, this position will be expected to work overtime, both weeknights and weekends, for the preparation and release of several key budget documents.

About the Position

The City of San Carlos is seeking a full-time Associate Engineer in our Public Works Department. This position performs professional and technical civil engineering work in support of the City’s public works and private development projects. Responsibilities will range from simpler projects and to more complex ones. Employees in this job class provide general engineering support and direction to a variety of public and private projects. Projects worked on may include civil works projects including: roads, drainage, grading, buildings, water and wastewater pipelines and treatment facilities, tanks, generators, parks and landscaping, bike paths, environmental mitigation and other related subjects.

The Associate Engineer is distinguished from the Assistant Engineer by the level of experience in the field of municipal engineering and the level of job knowledge.  This is a more specialized class wherein incumbents are charged with performing a wide variety of complex engineering assignments and having a much broader range of knowledge, skills and abilities.

Employees in this classification work under general supervision of the Principal Engineer. Employees in the Engineer positions are not directly responsible for the supervision and evaluation of other engineering staff; however, they may provide supervision of work product to other engineers, inspectors, technicians or intern staff.

Essential Duties

• Plans, directs, participates and effectively completes moderately complex projects. This technical work involves engineering, surveying, construction or other activities related to the civil engineering profession.
• Manages assigned projects, serving as the project lead and ensuring that all aspects of the project are addressed and completed professionally.
• Supervises the work products of project team members, including technicians or intern staff.
• Administers consultant contracts and oversees consultants for services such as design, construction management, construction inspection, soil testing, biological studies, and other related tasks.
• Reviews, prepares construction drawings and specifications for a variety of City public works projects using AutoCAD and related civil design software to process projects through the City.
• Reviews and evaluates preliminary and final plans and specifications for private development.
• Prepares Requests for Proposals for support work such as surveying or biological studies.
• inspects and evaluates ongoing public works and development projects to ensure compliance with plans and specifications and regulatory agency requirements.
• Conducts surveys, and/or assists survey personnel in obtaining field data and conducts a variety of field construction tests for compliance purposes.
• Verifies and maintains appropriate records and files; prepares comprehensive technical reports and agenda reports related to assignments. Presents reports as needed.
• Represents the Public Works Department at various meetings.
• Performs a variety of computer and tracking support functions.
• Interacts with the public at the public counter answering questions and issuing permits for construction in the City’s right of way.
• Prepares Requests for Qualifications/Proposals (RFQ/Ps) for design, construction management and support services as needed.
• Provides preliminary and final review of development proposals such as subdivisions maps, parcel maps and subdivision improvements.
• Reviews private development submittals for compliance with State and local regulations and specifications, working with project proponents to make necessary corrections.

What You’ll Do

The Public Works Maintenance Leadworker performs skilled work in the construction, maintenance, and repair of sewer infrastructure, road ways, sidewalks, and storm conveyance system. The Leadworker assigns and participates in the work of maintenance crews, operates power driven equipment, and performs related work as required.   This position is responsible for lead supervision of a sewer, street, storm or traffic safety maintenance field crew. This is a full-time position with benefits and a compensation schedule range of $6,339 - $7,529 per month. This position works a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off. Definition

Under general supervision, this position performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled duties in connection with the construction, maintenance, and repair of City buildings and other facilities; and performs related duties as assigned. This position is distinguished from other maintenance classes in its specialization in building construction and maintenance, utilizing skills in one or more of the building trades.

Typical and Important Duties

• Constructs, remodels, and repairs a variety of buildings and structures, such as walls, partitions, doorways, counters, stairways, plumbing, roofs, and floor coverings.
• Builds and/or installs cabinets, shelving, bookcases, molding and other items involving finish carpentry.
• Performs other crafts-related work in connection with the construction, alteration, and repair of buildings and related facilities.
• Inspects work sites to take dimensions, prepare estimates of time and materials to lay-out work. 
• Reads and interprets blueprints, schematics, diagrams, and catalogues
• Maintains work orders, services records, time logs
• Prepares drawings and specifications for assigned projects.
• Estimates materials and supplies required to perform assigned work; may order supplies and materials as required.
• May direct the work of other workers on a project or relief basis.
• Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Essential Job Function

Employment Standards

Any combination of training and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and completion of an accredited four-year apprenticeship program in construction field.

Licenses and Certificates

Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record. May be required to qualify for and obtain a Class “A” or “B” driver’s license, and, therefore, become subject to the Department of Transportation’s random drug and alcohol testing program.

• Two years of experience in water system maintenance, equivalent to the responsibilities of a Water Utility Worker in the City of Mountain View
• Equivalent to completion of the 12th grade supplemented by approved courses of instruction in the theory, laws, regulations, and techniques of backflow prevention and/or cross-connection control.
• Possession of a valid California Class C driver’s license.
• Possession of an AWWA Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester Certificate and a California Water Resources Control Board Water Distribution Operator Grade 1 Certificate.  
• Possession of an AWWA Cross-Connection Control Specialist Certificate within one year of appointment.  

Bonus Points:

• Experience administering a water system cross-connection inspection program is highly desirable.
• Completion of a recycled water site supervisor’s training class is highly desirable.
