THE POSITION: The Dixon Police Department is recruiting to fill full-time Police Officer positions at either the Academy Graduate Level or Lateral Level, as well as establish an employment eligibility list for future possible use. THE POSITION: As potential Police Sergeants, candidates in these roles will shoulder significant responsibility overseeing law enforcement and patrol duties during designated shifts. Under the general direction of the City Building Official, performs inspections of residential, commercial, public works, infrastructure, capital improvement, and private development construction projects to enforce relevant codes; provides enforcement and interpretations of all state and local building codes and the relation and implementation of policies and procedures; ensures the life, health and safety of the citizens of the City as it relates to construction, use and occupancy of all structures; serves as the principal enforcement officer of the building and housing codes including ordinances and provisions for dangerous buildings and derelict structures; works collaboratively with other departments, individuals and agencies to proactively reduce the number of dangerous buildings and derelict structures in the community.

• Conduct building plan reviews and proposed construction for code compliance.
• Conduct field building inspections and issue correction notices for building code compliance.
• Conduct inspection of public works, infrastructure, capital improvement, and private development construction projects for workmanship and conformance with approved plans, specifications, contract provisions, safe working practices, Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), Air Quality, and/or OSHA requirements.

• Assist in issuing permits and maintain inspection records.
• Issue correction notices to individuals in violation of established building, sanitation, and related codes.
• Establish and maintain tracking documentation for each violation.
• Receive, document, and investigate complaints concerning noncompliance with building ordinances.
• Identify and abate dangerous and derelict structures in the community by proactively enforcing state and city ordinances.
• Initiate investigations based on analysis of preliminary information.
• Contact individuals and discuss possible violations, alternatives for solving noncompliance problems and time periods for correcting them.

Distinguishing Characteristics

The Accounting Manager is the management-level class responsible for assisting the Director, or designee, in the day-to-day administrating, directing and managing of assigned divisions. This classification is distinguished from that in the lower classification of Principal Accountant by their responsibility for overall management of the accounting division.

Supervision Received/Exercised

Receives general direction from the Director of Finance or his/her designee. Exercises direct supervision over professional, technical, and clerical accounting staff.

The City of Marysville is seeking qualified candidates for the position of a Public Works Director; this recruitment will fill 1 vacancy and create an eligible list.  

Reporting directly to the City Manager, this position is responsible for executive direction, strategic leadership, and management of the Public Works Department, including City maintenance workers and capital improvement projects. 

As the principal administrator of the Public Works Department, the Director; plans, organizes, directs, reviews and manages all department activities and functions including Engineering, Parks and Recreation, Streets, Public Facilities, Wastewater Treatment/Sewage, and Storm Water Management.

The Director also coordinates departmental activities with other City departments, outside agencies, community groups and individuals; and provides highly complex professional advice and support to the City Manager and City Council; assures department compliance with and enforcement of applicable federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, and codes; manages and supervises staff; serves as a member of the City’s Executive Team.

REQUIREMENTS

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Education and Certification

Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in Engineering, Construction Management or similar major.

Licenses: Possess valid California Class C Driver’s License.

Experience

Incumbents must have a minimum of three (3) years of managerial experience directly involving municipal services such as public works, public utilities, capital improvement project management, parks maintenance and management, and/or street and facilities maintenance.
