Job Description:

The Town of Los Altos Hills is recruiting a college intern to work in the Community Development Department. The intern will split time between the planning and building divisions of CDD. The role for planning will include support of both short range and long range planning.  Interns working on long range planning will work primarily as a research aide for the Town’s 2023-2031 certified Housing Element implementation.  For short range planning and the building division support interns will be focused on day to day permit activities, but may also work on other more general department duties as needed.

Examples of Duties:

• Conduct research and analysis of State Law and Fair Housing requirements for the Town’s 2023-2031 certified Housing Element implementation
• Conduct field investigations as necessary
• Prepare and conduct surveys in association with the Housing Element implementation progress and reporting
• Creating illustrative graphics, flyers and informational handouts
• Providing planning customer support at the public counter/virtual counter

Qualifications:

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:
The Business Operations Coordinator (BOC) is responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring efficient systems to manage the District’s business office, properties, entrepreneurial enterprises, service and vendor contracts, media management, and IT support services. This includes ensuring compliance with regulatory mandates, facility requirements, and workplace safety.

The BOC is a full-time exempt position that reports directly to the CEO.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. 1. Provides comprehensive administrative and operational support to ensure effective implementation and community impact.
   1. Coordinates District-sponsored and community outreach events—in both virtual and in-person formats—in collaboration with District leadership.
   2. Provides oversight of the District office operations to identify opportunities to improve efficiencies, inventory and supplies management, document, and key security, tracking annual policy review and report filing requirements, and utilization of classroom facilities.
   3. Maintains a clean, well-organized office environment for team and visitors.
   4. Assists the Strategic Initiatives Director in managing the Community Health Investment portfolio, including utilizing and maintaining the District’s grant management software to track and support the community grants program.
   5. Oversees and manages district office operations and leasing budgets.
   6. Maintains IT services, triaging issues, tracking performance of various pieces of equipment, and helping identify IT issues that may benefit from more user training.

   8. Maintains a system for managing and regularly auditing vendor contracts to ensure compliance with performance obligations and identify opportunities for cost and service improvements.

2. Serving as primary PHCD contact for tenants, property manager, and vendors serving the eight District-owned properties This includes such activities as:
   1. Tracks lease terms and rent increases and taking timely, appropriate actions via Doorloop.
   2. Maintains effective tenant relationships with professionals and their staff.
   3. Establishes and carrying out a preventative maintenance program for all buildings in collaboration with the CFO and property manager.
   4. Primary liaison for facilities consultants
   5. Makes periodic rounds to ensure tenants are compliant with their property maintenance obligations.
   6. Works with leasing agent when a vacancy occurs.
3. Overseeing and strengthening all District communication channels, ensuring consistency, compliance, and effective public engagement.
   1. Manages all District websites are compliant with regulatory and special district transparency requirements, content is current, and sites are “user-friendly”
   2. Serves as primary liaison with the District’s communications and website professionals
   3. Serves as primary point person for coordinating, producing, and tracking analytics of external communications for websites, e-newsletter, social media, and related materials, in collaboration with the CEO, Directors, and District communications and marketing professionals.
4. In the absence of the Executive Assistant:
   1. Provides administrative support to Board Members, Board Committees, including scheduling meetings, preparing and distributing noticed meeting materials, and coordinating meeting logistics.
   2. Supports the CEO and Board with daily calendar management, communications, event and conference bookings, annual board policy review, staff meetings, and District transparency recertifications.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Experience supporting administrative staff

COMPENSATION & BENEFIT S
This is a full-time position. Compensation range based on experience: $55,000 - $85,000.
DOE. In addition, Peninsula Health Care District benefits include: CalPers Pension, CalPers

THE POSITION:

DEFINITION

Under general supervision from the Communications Supervisor, the Communications Operator operates a computer aided dispatch system receiving calls and dispatching police, fire or other City services.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This is a journey technical level position in which incumbents are expected to independently perform the full range of duties assigned. This class is distinguished from the Communications Supervisor in that the latter provides technical and functional supervision over assigned communication personnel.

THE DEPARTMENT

The Communications Center in the Support Services Division of the Hayward Police Department is responsible for dispatching both Police and Fire Services throughout the City of Hayward. The Hayward Police Department is one of 18 CALEA (Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement) accredited police departments in California and is committed to maintaining CALEA's high standards and broadly recognized excellence.
The Communications Center is frequently the first point of contact that a member of the public will have when requesting assistance from the City of Hayward. The information gathered by the communications operator during this contact is critical to a positive outcome. The Communications Center consists of six (6) stations with each communications operator assigned to a specific job.

Minimum Qualifications

LATERAL REQUIREMENTS:

Experience: Two (2) years of experience as a public safety dispatcher for a Public Safety Answering Point, including heavy public contact while performing multiple tasks and using a computer-aided dispatch system.

Education: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade.

Licenses and Certificates: Completion of the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Basic Public Safety Dispatcher course is highly desirable.

Typing Certificate: A typing certificate with 35 net words per minute 

1. Certificates will be accepted from a public school, business school or temporary agency; certificates from Internet testing services and/or home computer CD testing will NOT be accepted.

The Judicial Council of California is accepting applications for the position of Senior Fiscal Analyst for the Budget Services office.  

The Senior Fiscal Analyst serves as the lead staff for the Trial Court Budget Advisory Committee and its three subcommittees: Funding Methodology, Revenue & Expenditure, and Fiscal Planning, providing comprehensive support for all committee operations. This role manages the Funds Held on Behalf of the Trial Courts program, a fiscal process that assists courts in managing their operational budgets. The analyst also provides budgetary support for the Court Interpreter Program and acts as a key backup to the Senior Fiscal Analyst responsible for the trial court allocations and Workload Formula policy implementation. This position requires advanced, journey-level analytical expertise to manage complex projects and programs, conduct in-depth research, develop fiscal policies and procedures, compose official comprehensive written reports, and serve as a subject matter expert in trial court finance and planning.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Serve as lead staff and provide high-level professional support to the Trial Court Budget Advisory Committee, its subcommittees, and working groups. This is one of the most active advisory bodies to the Judicial Council that represents trial court funding priorities and policies. This role involves strategic planning, policy compliance, stakeholder engagement, and administrative coordination to ensure the committee’s operations align with Judicial Council governance standards. 
• Manage the annual submission cycle, analyze funding requests from trial courts, and coordinate the Funds Held on Behalf of the Trial Courts program to ensure compliance, transparency, and effective fiscal oversight. 
• Provide high-level professional support in a backup capacity to the Senior Fiscal Analyst position that oversees the trial court budget allocations of $3 billion annually and the Workload Formula policy. This role collaborates extensively with Judicial Council leadership and trial court representatives to ensure effective governance of trial court funding and policy execution. 
• Provide advanced-level analytical and budgetary support to the Court Interpreter Program. This includes technical assistance to the Language Access Program for annual court interpreter allocations to the trial courts, implementation of budget proposals, and review of reports to the Legislature and other documents. 
• Provide support for the development and implementation of the annual trial court budget. Contribute to cross-functional initiatives that support trial court operations, ensure fiscal integrity, and support the goals of the Judicial Council. 
• Document and maintain detailed records of operational processes, procedures, and related backup information to ensure clarity and consistency for key budgetary processes that support the trial courts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business, finance, accounting, or a directly related field, and four (4) years of professional experience in accounting, financial analysis, budgetary, or contract administration/procurement. 

Possession of a bachelor’s degree in a directly related field such as accounting, finance, business, etc., may be substituted for one (1) of the years of required experience. An additional four (4) years of professional experience in the assigned function as noted above may substitute for the bachelor’s degree. Or, additional directly related experience and/or education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. 

OR

Juris doctor, Master of Business Administration, or master’s degree in a directly related field for the assigned discipline such as finance, contract administration or accountancy, and one year of experience as identified above. 

OR 

One (1) year as a Fiscal Analyst in the assigned field with the Judicial Council of California or one (1) year of experience performing the duties of a class comparable in the level of responsibility to that of a Fiscal Analyst in a California superior court or California state-level government entity. 

Desirable Qualifications

• Knowledge of California’s state budget process and governmental budgeting practices.
• Strong political acumen and understanding of governmental laws, rules, and policies.
• Experience implementing budgetary policies within government frameworks.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerBI.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City invites you to apply for the position of ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT. The current opening is in the Fire Department and provides an excellent opportunity for an innovative and creative professional seeking variety and challenge. Reporting directly to the Management Analyst, this high-impact role is a key member of the Department’s administrative team.

The successful candidate will serve as the Departments payroll timekeeper. Additional responsibilities include managing executive scheduling, processing invoices and payroll, assisting with the Department’s annual budget, and supporting purchasing card administration. This position requires strong organizational skills, discretion in handling confidential information, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced public safety environment.

The candidate should be a confident, organized, and enthusiastic self-starter able to work well with a large, diverse staff.  The successful candidate will oversee and coordinate office support functions, including project management and other related duties as required.  Good written and oral communications skills are required. 

Typical duties may include the following:

Provides oversight to one or multiple programmatic areas, depending on the department to which assigned; ensures that work is completed in an appropriate manner and that program goals are met; recommends and implements policy or procedural changes related to the programmatic area(s); may develop the budget and time schedules for the programmatic area(s). Conducts administrative, operational, budgetary, financial, procedural or other information or research projects related to the department or functional area to which assigned; analyzes alternatives and makes recommendations regarding such matters as administrative policies, budget development, staffing, productivity and other matters. Attends to a variety of office administrative details such as following up on projects, transmitting information, keeping informed of departmental activities, processing payroll forms, arranging equipment and supply purchase, equipment maintenance, attending meetings and serving on a variety of committees. Confers with staff of other City departments, representatives of government, community, business and public agencies and the public. Initiates specified correspondence independently for signature by appropriate management, supervisory or professional staff; reviews finished materials for completeness, accuracy, format, compliance with policies and procedures, and appropriate English usage; uses a computer or word processor and appropriate word processing, desktop publishing and spreadsheet software. Receives and screens visitors and telephone calls, providing information which requires tact, discretion and the interpretation of policies and procedures; takes messages or refers the caller to the proper person. Researches and compiles a variety of informational materials from sources both inside and outside the office; summarizes such information as directed and may prepare reports from such materials. Organizes and maintains various office files, including personnel and tickler files; purges files as required. Provides supervision to office support staff; plans, assigns and reviews work; trains staff in work procedures. May serve as secretary to a Board or Commission, preparing agendas, assembling and distributing materials and taking minutes; may provide staff support to Commission members. Uses standard office equipment, using a computer, in the course of the work; may drive a personal or City motor vehicle in order to attend meetings or deliver or pick up materials. Perform work with a record of regular attendance and punctuality.

The City of Redwood City invites you to apply for the position of High School or College Summer intern for the Community Development Department. This employment opportunity is excellent for a well-organized “people person” seeking some summer work experience and getting exposure to government and specifically to work in the Community Development Department.

The primary responsibility of this position is to help with document scanning, managing mail outs, answering phones, data entry and document preparation. The position will also be able to shadow planners and building staff on counter duties, attend meetings, and assist staff on planning projects as schedule permits.

This summer intern position is a non-benefited casual position. This casual position work schedule will vary (as needed) between 15-20 hours per week and will be in-person on three days between Monday-Thursday. The position start and end date are flexible based on applicant’s needs but generally anticipated to last a maximum of 10 weeks.
