The City of Colfax is currently accepting applications for Maintenance Worker I. This is an entry level position in the Public Works department requiring a minimum of 1 year of experience in a semi-skilled maintenance occupation. Typical duties include: landscape maintenance, electrical and plumbing repairs, minor construction and light carpentry projects, cleaning public restrooms, keeping public streets and parks clean and in good repair. The employee will check storm drains, culverts and ditches; operate tools and equipment to patch and repair pavement, construct and maintain gutters, sidewalks and other incidental improvements. The ability to operate power tools and work safely, wearing appropriate PPE. Occasional maintenance will be required for the wastewater treatment plant and collection systems. The City of Patterson is seeking to fill one (1) part-time Recreation Specialist position in the Recreation Department for their sports program and to establish an eligibility list.  Duties include, but are not limited to: implement a wide range of programs that foster community development that include youth/adult sports, special events, open gym, and youth development activities.  This position will require assistance of general office duties and may include supervision of volunteers and staff, and performs related duties as assigned.

THE POSITION:

This is a division head management position at the Hayward Executive Airport, reporting to the Airport Manager. The incumbent is responsible for the management of the business and accounting functions at the airport and provides second-line supervision and direction of staff within the Airport Division. This position is distinguished from the Airport Operations Supervisor classification which is responsible for the direct supervision of staff performance of Airside and Landside operations and maintenance tasks at the airport. Under general direction, the Airport Business Supervisor, oversees the airport business function including budget preparation, the real property program, tenant compliance with contract provisions, collections, preparation of grant applications, and other administrative duties.

The Airport Business Supervisor is a key administrative position in the Airport division of Hayward Public Works Department. What you will do: 
Duties may include but are not limited to the following:

Assist the Airport Manager with the negotiation of commercial lease agreements.

Prepare draft leases at the request of the Airport Manager.
 
Oversee preparation of the annual airport budget.
 
Maintain a detailed database of all commercial and individual airport tenants.
 
Monitor tenant compliance with contract provisions.
 
Monitor account receivables and collect past due amounts.
 
Prepare annual business permits and monitor tenant compliance.

Perform appraisals and provide estimated current values on real property.
 
Administer the City hangar waiting list.
 
Prepare Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Caltrans grant applications and related documents.
 
Monitor and submit required FAA reports for the DBE program.
 
Performs related work as necessary.

Experience:  Five (5) years of experience in real property management, appraisals, negotiations, and budgeting.  Including two (2) years of supervisory or lead experience.  Experience in an airport business office preferred.
 
Education:  Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major work in Public or Business Administration, or a closely related field.
 
Licenses and Certificates:  Possession of either an FAA Private Pilot Certificate or standing as a Certified Member (CM) of the American Association of Airport Executives is desirable.

If selected for the position, the employee will undergo a full background check, psychological testing, and medical testing. After passing required tests, the employee must commit to attending a 20-week program with the Santa Rosa Junior College Public Safety Training Center. The police academy will be held Monday – Friday and include some nights and weekends. The next academy is January 5 - May 22, 2026. 

Upon graduation, the successful trainee will be transitioned to a Field Training Officer program with the Mill Valley Police Department and promoted to Step 1 Police Officer (probationary) with full benefits. If the employee does not complete and graduate the police academy with a POST academy certificate, they will be released from employment. The applicant may be released at any point they do not pass required testing during the course of the police academy. 

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Police Officer Trainee position enables an incumbent to attend a local law enforcement academy and earn their POST (California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training) certificate of academy completion while enjoying the support and mentorship of our agency, and receiving compensation. Through the academy and certification process, the successful incumbent will become eligible for promotion to Police Officer and immediate transition into MVPD's Field Training Program.
