SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision, performs a variety of custodial duties to maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of assigned rooms, buildings, and related City facilities.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.

1.       Sweep, scrub, wax floors; vacuum and clean rugs and carpets; clean restrooms; empty and clean waste receptacles.

2.       Wash and dust windows, walls, and blinds.

3.       Perform minor maintenance and repairs on equipment or buildings such as replacing light bulbs, fixing doors, or minor painting.

4.       Unlock and lock entrances to buildings; check buildings for security.

5.       Inspect buildings for safety, fire, and sanitary hazards.

6.       Operate a variety of electrical cleaning equipment; maintain and order custodial equipment and supplies.

7.       Perform various tasks in moving or rearranging furniture, desks and other equipment; set up room for meetings.

8.       Answer general questions from the public and City staff.

9.       May assist in training less experienced staff.

10.    Perform related duties as required.

Requirements:

1. Custodial work experience is desirable.

2. Education equivalent to the completion of the 12th grade.

3. Possession of a valid, California Driver License

4. Ability to work a flexible schedule that will require weekends.

City of Sunnyvale is recruiting a Facility Attendant II to provide essential facility support for Library and Recreation facilities, e.g. Lakewood Branch Library, Community Center (Recreation, Senior Center and Theater). This position independently prepares and maintains facilities, performs light maintenance, monitors use, and ensures a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for staff and the public. The Facility Attendant II also serves as on-site contact during evenings and weekends, assisting customers and part-time or contract staff. OVERVIEW 
The Judicial Council of California is accepting applications for the position of Construction Inspector with the Facilities Services office. 

The Construction Inspector is responsible for providing technical construction inspections of architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and related elements during construction or alteration of judicial branch buildings and facilities. Incumbents may direct the work of contracted staff, and/or may serve as specialists who work independently and deal with complex and/or sensitive projects relating to detailed technical inspections of construction materials, methods, and work quality, and monitor construction work for compliance with plans, specifications, and regulations. POSITION
To perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the maintenance of City-owned buildings, equipment and facilities.  The purpose of this recruitment is to fill a current vacancy in the Public Works Department, as well as establish an eligibility list for future vacancies.

IDEAL CANDIDATE
The Ideal Candidate will be able to troubleshoot a wide variety of building systems and think outside the box to find solutions that get the problem fixed right the first time.  The candidate must be customer-friendly and be a solutions-oriented professional who is flexible in dealing with shifting priorities.   Successful candidate will also be able to respond to after-hours emergencies on short notice and demonstrate the ability to work independently.  Project management, plumbing, and HVAC skills are highly desirable. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Maintain and repair City facilities, equipment, and building by performing a variety of semi-skilled and skilled carpentry, electrical, painting, plumbing, heating, air conditioning and mechanical repair work.  Inspect building facilities to identify building maintenance and custodial needs; research and recommend effective solutions to maintenance and repair needs of the City.  Inspect, determine, and perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on assigned facilities and equipment.  Assign routine and special tasks to subordinates; coordinates the work of contractors and other assigned staff with other City employees and contractors.  Work cooperatively with others.  Regular and consistent attendance. 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Operate a variety of equipment including power saws, power sanders, drills, paint sprayers, plumbing snakes and rodders, routers and grinders.  Operate, maintain and repair a variety of mechanical equipment such as generators, engines and sump pumps.  Determine quantity and types of supplies, materials, tools and equipment needed for maintenance programs and projects; arrange for purchase and procurement of same; assure that maintenance equipment and tools are kept in good working order.  Read and interpret sketches, diagrams, drawings and blueprints.  Assist in the research and implementation of department policies and procedures.  Maintain time, material and equipment use records.  Troubleshoot, maintain and repair the City’s lock system.  Perform work in emergency situations.  Perform related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience:  Two (2) years of experience performing duties comparable to those of a Facility Maintenance Worker II.

License and Certificate:  Required upon hire, possession of valid California Driver's License.  Building Operator Certification is desired.

DESCRIPTION 

The City of Thousand Oaks has an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Analyst within the Facilities Division of the Finance Department. This position supports the analytical, administrative, and operational functions of the Facilities Division, which oversees City Hall, the Civic Arts Plaza theaters, libraries, and other municipal facilities.

About the Position:  The Facilities Maintenance Specialist is responsible for performing all aspects of facilities maintenance for Midpen’s Administrative Office, including building operations, vehicle fleet inspections, landscaped grounds, parking areas, and various physical systems such as HVAC, plumbing, painting, assembly, construction, electrical, data cabling, and security systems.  This unique position has a foundation in older residential property improvements in a rural setting, including spring systems, old style construction including log framing, historic farm building construction, multiple materials and additions to the buildings are all aspects and considerations for repairs and tenant improvements. This position is also responsible for non-routine repairs and improvements at Midpen’s field properties and performs preventative maintenance tasks, repairs, and minor improvement projects. Work Environment:  This position is part of the  Facilities & Fleet Department and will be required to work onsite Monday through Friday on a 9/80 schedule.  Work will be performed at Midpen’s administrative office in Los Altos, field facilities, and also at residential properties located primarily in the field. • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade supplemented by college-level coursework in facilities management, construction project management or a related field or training in applicable trades, and
• Three (3) years of experience in construction, maintenance, and/or repair of buildings, structures and/or related facilities.

Completion of an apprenticeship program or the equivalent training in one or more of the construction trades is highly desirable.

• Weekdays:  5:00 pm to Sunset
• Weekends:  9:00 am to Sunset
