The City of Patterson is seeking to fill one (1) part-time Recreation Specialist position in the Recreation Department for their sports program and to establish an eligibility list.  Duties include, but are not limited to: implement a wide range of programs that foster community development that include youth/adult sports, special events, open gym, and youth development activities.  This position will require assistance of general office duties and may include supervision of volunteers and staff, and performs related duties as assigned.

This position is established for 19 hours a week, but will vary depending on programming needs, and will be working weekdays, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Part-Time – Multiple Positions Available (10 to 20 Hours per Week)

The City of San Bruno Recreation and Aquatic Center is hiring for Fitness Instructors/Personal Trainers, with a particular focus on strength and conditioning. Position Summary
Fitness Instructors/Personal Trainers play a key role in supporting clients’ health and fitness goals by:

• Leading group strength and conditioning classes and personal training sessions.
• Designing safe and effective individualized fitness programs.
• Monitoring client progress, ensuring proper form, and providing feedback.
• Creating a motivating, positive environment for participants.
• Delivering excellent customer service and addressing fitness-related inquiries.
• Ensuring the fitness facility is safe, clean, and fully operational.

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
• Current certification in personal training or group fitness instruction (e.g., ACE, NASM, or other recognized certification).
• At least one year of experience in fitness instruction, personal training, or related field preferred.
• Experience in strength and conditioning, group instruction, and one-on-one training is highly desirable.

Knowledge and Skills

• Knowledge of strength and conditioning techniques, fitness principles, and wellness practices.
• Ability to motivate and instruct individuals and groups effectively.
• Strong communication skills for clear instruction and positive feedback.
• Skill in assessing client needs and designing individualized programs.
• Ability to safely operate and maintain fitness equipment.

Special Requirements: 

• Current certification in First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). 

• Fitness certifications (e.g., Personal Trainer, Group Fitness Instructor) from a nationally recognized organization.

DEFINITION: Under general supervision the aide assists in planning, organizing, and implementing preschool programming for children ages 3-5 years old. Program hours are M-F PM 8:30am – 1:00pm and/or MWF 8:30am - 1:00pm. Approximately 15 – 30 hours a week. Substitute and floating positions also available 8:30am - 1:00pm. 

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

• Assists in the development, coordination, planning, implementing and supervising the day-to-day activities, themes and special events for an ongoing preschool program.
• Create and maintain a safe, challenging and creative environment.
• Supervise and engage preschool students during preschool hours.
• Demonstrate excellent customer service and communicate effectively with co-workers, parents, and children.
• Maintain registration, attendance, and activity records; ensure the proper pick-up/drop-off of children. 
• Encourage good behavior, appropriate manners, read books and provide a safe and nurturing environment.
• Implement and lead appropriate activities for preschool-aged children.
• Possess strong leadership skills in one or more of the following areas: art, crafts, sports, drama, cooking.
• Motivate children by example; create and maintain a positive environment.
• Must be a team player and have the ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
• Practice proper hygiene, with self and children, to deter the spread of disease (colds, flu, etc).
• Render first aid in case of minor injuries.
• Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
• The ability to speak English clearly and understandably.
• Perform related duties as required.
• Must be able to lift 50lbs

TRAINING & EXPERIENCE: Any combination of education, training, and experience, which likely provides the required knowledge and abilities.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS: Candidates receiving a conditional job offer must pass a pre-placement fingerprint review. Candidate must provide a TB negative test result document. Candidates must possess a current CPR/AED and First Aid certificate and be comfortable calling 911 in an emergency.

Pay rate: starting at $18.25 hourly 

Locations: Thousand Oaks, CA; Hiring Part-time, flexible hours for:

• Sports and Reservation unit - primarily Monday - Friday (may include evening and/or weekend hours)
• Thousand Oaks Community Center - variable hours (may include evening and/or weekend hours)
• Dos Vientos Community Center - variable hours (may include evening and/or weekend hours)

Summary:
Under general supervision, plan, conduct, and participate in recreational program activities according to established programs, schedules, and standards, in accordance with District policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Develop, conduct, and participate in various athletic, craft, social, cultural, and instructional activities
• Prepare facilities for programming, special events, or rental group usage
• Greet visitors, direct participants to the appropriate location, and respond to general inquiries
• Ensure safety of environment and equipment for staff, volunteers, participants, and visitors
• May open or close and secure facilities in compliance with District policies and procedures
• Issue and collect recreation equipment and supplies used by instructors, participants, or visitors
• Supervise special events, field trips, and other group activities

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and participate in promotional activities and community events
• Modify and adapt activities specific to specialized programs or populations, as appropriate
• May assist with transportation in specialized programs
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty* satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required:

Education and Experience:
Minimum age of 18 years old with a High School Diploma (or GED). At least 500 hours of experience in recreation with 15 units completed in recreation or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Certificates and Licenses:

• First Aid & CPR/AED within 90 days of employment with ability to maintain certifications thereafter as a condition of employment.
• Valid California driver’s license with a good driving record and current automobile insurance.
• Department of Justice fingerprint clearance.
• Proof of a negative TB skin test.

Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to communicate effectively in English in both written and oral form. Ability to write routine correspondence using correct spelling and grammar. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply common sense and exercise good judgement in solving problems. Ability to establish effective relationships with fellow employees, volunteers, and participants and/or parents/guardians.

Fingerprint-Based Background Check:
All recreation employees are required to obtain fingerprint-based background clearance prior to their first day of employment.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
The employee may provide guidance or direction to other part-time employees and to volunteers.

ABOUT THE POSITION: This position will receive immediate direction from the Management Analyst II. They provide a variety of clerical support and perform a wide range of customer service-related tasks in a fast paced, high touch environment. This position requires the ability to multi-task and respond to multiple requests from customers with professionalism and courtesy.

SCHEDULE: Staff will have the schedule flexibility to work weekday, weekend, early morning and evening shifts.  Staff may be asked to cover additional, unscheduled shifts due to absences by other Office Assistants.

Must have ability to produce information in written form and operate office equipment (Computers, scanners, typewriters, calculators, printers, and copiers). It may be necessary to move objects weighing 20 lbs., such as mail, packages, merchandise inventory etc.

Fire Prevention/Administration Office Assistant

• Provide excellent customer service for the Fire Prevention and Fire Administration divisions by greeting visitors, answering inquiries, and directing individuals to the appropriate staff or resources
• Manage calendars for multiple inspectors, schedule inspections, and charge appropriate fees
• Process special event permit applications, prepare invoices for permit fees, collect fees, and issue permits
• Assist with accounts payables and receivables, including invoicing, payment collection, and reconciliation for Fire Prevention activities
• Provide information and assistance regarding public education to the general public
• Assist with website updates related to Fire Prevention services
• Update and maintain a variety of Fire Prevention forms and documents

• Provide front-desk customer service by greeting visitors, answering inquiries and directing individuals to the appropriate staff or resources
• Perform a variety of general clerical duties, including filing, photocopying, processing mail, ordering supplies, scanning, and answering a multi-line telephone system
• Enter invoices for payment and data/information for reports, including setting up new vendors, reviewing statements

• Update and maintain shop-related forms and documentation, assist with maintaining inventories of station supplies, and parts for apparatus repairs
