Three camps offered throughout the year 

Summer Camp 2026:

• Mandatory Training: Tuesday, June 9 - Saturday, June 13
• Camp Dates: June 15, 2026 – August 14, 2026. (No camp July 4)
• Up to 5 approved vacation days

Winter Break Camp:

• Late December – Early January

Spring Break Camp:

• Late March – Early April

Position Levels

• Recreation Leader 1: Current high school student 
• Recreation Leader 2: High school graduate or current college student 
• Senior Recreation Leader: College graduate with leadership experience

Education and Training

• Experience in recreational activities, effective communication and interaction skills with youth, and ability to collaborate with staff. Must be at least 16 years old.
• Recreation leader 1 and 2: Students under the age of 18 are required to obtain a work permit from their school. 
• All staff 18+ are required to pass a fingerprint check submitted to the Department of Justice. 
• Sr. Recreation Leader: Sufficient education and experience to satisfactorily perform the duties of the classification.

There is no cash value associated with the benefit. No other benefits are offered. This position is at will and is not part of the City's Civil Service System. Salary: $18.06-26.54 per hour depending on qualifications and experience.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

The Seasonal Maintenance Worker position performs a variety of entry-level and unskilled labor, maintenance and repair tasks in various public works operations, such as park maintenance, landscape maintenance, creek and catch basin maintenance, street maintenance, and janitorial and facility maintenance.  Weekend availability is at times required for picnic area prep, general park clean-up, etc.

Work Schedule:

• Planning to hire for start date in May 2026
• Work hours will not exceed 29 hours per week.

Summer Day Camps

Looking for individuals who are passionate about making a difference and having fun outdoors! If entering your senior year of high school, are in college or beyond, this could be a perfect fit. Our five all-day summer camps run from June 15 to August 14, with staff training beginning June 8. Serving children ages 4-12 at multiple locations, these positions serve as role models to youth campers throughout the Conejo Valley, leading arts and crafts, recreation games, swimming, hiking and more!

The Town of Colma Recreation Services Department is currently accepting applications for Recreation Leaders for Summer 2026.  The Recreation Department provides programs and activities for Colma residents of all ages ranging from infants to seniors. Program elements include fitness, enrichment, cultural events, special events, sporting events, trips, and community events. The City of Auburn is hiring for the seasonal, part-time Bus Driver I position in the Auburn Transit Department.

Auburn Transit is looking for qualified individuals to join our transit team. These positions are seasonal, part-time and each has a maximum of 999 hours of work per fiscal year. The incumbent's schedule will be flexible, based on the needs of the department, community transit needs and employee availability.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

This position operates a variety of transit and General Public Paratransit (GPPV) vehicles to transport passengers in a safe, courteous and reliable manner. The incumbent will learn all transit laws, operating procedures and policies. 

Auburn Transit provides fixed and on-demand transportation services to the community. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

The Bus Driver I is an entry-level classification responsible for routine tasks and operation of specific transit vehicles. It is essential incumbents learn all transit laws, operating procedures and policies. The role is performed under direct supervision from the Transportation Supervisor or designee and does not involve supervision over other staff.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

The following duties are typical for this classification. Actual work may vary based on department needs or change due to evolving business practices.

• Operates a bus or other General Public Paratransit (GPPV) vehicles on City streets and highways in all weather conditions to transport passengers on established routes with designated stops, on-demand rideshare services, field trips and special events.
• Ensures passenger safety by observing passenger behavior, verifying safety belts are secured and rendering aid to passengers in an emergency.
• Assists passengers boarding and deboarding as needed or requested, including senior citizens, individuals with disabilities and care-dependent persons.
• Operates a smart device and two-radio to respond to transit dispatch and on-demand rideshare requests requiring adjustments to existing schedules and routes.
• Operates automatic wheelchair lifts, collects fares, issues passes, secures wheelchairs and other assistive devices.
• Promptly notifies management and completes reports regarding accidents and incidents involving vehicles and passengers.
• Conducts mandatory daily pre-trip vehicle inspections adhering to state and city regulations before each route, including reporting inspection results, daily trip logs, and required vehicle repairs and maintenance.
• Performs minor maintenance, repair and cleaning of transit vehicles and fleet storage facility.
• Adheres to all public transit federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations.
• Maintains a valid California driver’s license and passenger certifications required by the state vehicle code, Department of Motor Vehicles, Department of Transportation and other applicable standards.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

The Summer Learning Challenge is a summer library program that encourages kids, teens and adults to read or listen to books in the summer. The Challenge is a fun, interactive program for the whole family that includes free book giveaways, activities, raffles, and prizes for kids ages 0-18. The program starts on June 1 and runs through the end of August.

We are looking for enthusiastic high school interns to support Library staff with activities both at the libraries and at summer outreach sites throughout the City of Redwood City to promote and support the Summer Learning Challenge. The interns will be responsible for planning and delivering library programs, providing them with opportunities where their voices are elevated and valued.

Example of Duties: Under the supervision of a Librarian perform various duties as assigned for the operation of the Summer Learning Challenge. Duties may include, assist with planning and delivering programs for kids and teen, serve lunch an lead activities during the lunch at the Library service, register children and families up in the Summer Learning Challenge and record statistical data, staff outreach events at local school and community sites.

The City of Orinda Parks and Recreation Department is currently seeking two (2) qualified individuals with the passion and desire to work with youth campers as a summer Camp Coordinator (Recreation Program Specialist) in the Parks and Recreation Department.   This position takes direction from the Camp Director and reports to the City's full-time Recreation Coordinator.

Interviews for the Camp Coordinator positions will be done on an individual basis.  For consideration, please apply early for these opportunities.

MANDATORY TRAINING:  Must be available for paid training on Saturday, May 30, 2026. Additional training will occur int he mornings during the week of June 1 - June 5, 2026.

SUMMER CAMP SEASON:  Must be available for summer camp season June 1 - August 7, 2026.

WORK HOURS:  Work hours vary depending on the number of staff and youth participants.  Approximate work hours are Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

Incumbents of the position will provide their own transportation to program site(s). 

Supervision:

Under the general supervision of the Recreation Coordinator and Camp Director, Camp Coordinators are responsible for the day-to-day operations of their assigned summer day camp:  executing weekly curriculums by ordering supplies, supervising their camp staff, and leading all of their camp activities on a daily basis.  The City of Orinda offers two city-run camps:  Camp Orinda and Camp Orinda Jr.

Camp Orinda is a full-day (9:00 am to 4:00 pm) traditional camp for 6 to 11 year olds.

Camp Orinda Jr. is a half-day camp (9:15 am to 12:45 pm) for 3 1/2 to 5-year olds.

Essential Duties:

• Execute the camp curriculum in accordance with the Camp Director and Recreation Coordinator.
• Lead arts, crafts and games according to the theme of the week.
• Participate in weekly camp debriefs with Camp Director.
• Offer leadership, guidance and direction to Camp Counselors.
• Supervise Counselors-in-Training (CIT), pair CIT's with experienced Camp Counselors, and delegate CIT weekly duties during CIT camp week.
• Serve as a mentor and role model to campers and communicate effectively with guardians and families.
• Safely and appropriately supervise all campers.  Camp Orinda Coordinator will supervise campers on weekly field trips around the East Bay.
• Monitor supplies and create weekly supply list.
• Ensure the health and safety of all campers are prioritized in all summer camp programs.

Minimum Qualifications:

All City of Orinda employees are expected to uphold and exhibit the City’s core values including serving the public, being respectful and accountable, maintaining professionalism, and demonstrating responsibility.

Education: Must have completed at least eleventh (11) grade or graduated from high school by the start of camp.  High school or college-level coursework in Recreation, Sports, Administration, Human Development, Education or related field is preferred.  

Experience: Recreation, athletics and/or education experience is desirable.  Experience teaching and/or working with children and youth age twelve (12) and under is preferred.

Licenses/Certifications: CPR, First Aid, and AED training and/or certification are required prior to the first day of camp.  There will be a CPR, First Aid and AED training at the May 30, 2026 training for any staff that is not certified by this date.

Special Requirements:   This is a mandated reporter position.  Appointment to this position is contingent upon:

• A valid work permit issued from school (if under age 18 and have not graduated from high school or received a State Certificate of Proficiency).
• A post offer, pre-employment live scan criminal history check (over 18 years), drug screen, physical and TB Test required.  Please note that if under 18 some processes may require legal guardian consent.
