GENERAL INFO  

Under general supervision, the Recreation Leader I/II positions provide essential support to recreation programs and services by performing custodial tasks, event setup and teardown, program and administration support, and minor maintenance duties at various facilities, including parks and community centers. This temporary, part-time position requires working an average of 10 to 20 hours per week, but no more than 999 hours per fiscal year total. The roles involve ensuring the facilities are clean, safe, and operational while delivering excellent customer service. Performs other duties as assigned. 

UNIVERSAL POSITION DUTIES (Illustrative purposes only)  

• Organize, inventory, and maintain facility materials and equipment.  
• Supervise teams/groups of other program staff or volunteers under the direction of Supervisor.  
• Assist in organizing and supervising recreational programs in any one or more of the following areas: children, adults, senior citizens, and participants with special needs at playgrounds, community centers, and other recreational areas.  
• Open, close, and secure facilities, including locking gates and setting alarms.  
• Set up and tear down tables, chairs, and equipment according to event/program requirements.  
• Perform light maintenance and cleaning tasks to ensure facility safety and upkeep.  
• Enforce policies, maintain discipline, and provide customer service to patrons.  
• Monitor and report facility issues and potential hazards.

SERVICE DESK (Illustrative purposes only)  

• Greet patrons, answer and direct calls, and provide information on programs, services, schedules, rules, and policies.  
• Open/close the facility and monitor for safety, cleanliness, and proper use.  
• Check daily facility schedules, program and services setup requirements.  
• Use computer systems for data entry and registrations.  
• Assist patrons with registration processing and POS transactions.  
• Handle office tasks including deliveries, organization, mail distribution, and information sharing.  
• Support office inventory management for supplies and equipment.  
• Participate in safety training and emergency procedures.  
• Assist facility attendants and support programs, services, and events as needed.

FACILITY ATTENDANT (Illustrative purposes only)  

• Greet patrons, and provide information on programs, services, schedules, rules, and policies.

• Facility operations, customer service, basic event/program management, and safety practices.  
• Ability to use custodial and operational equipment, communicate effectively, and work independently.  

Special Requirements  

• Ability to obtain a current First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.

DEFINITION

Under general direction of the Director of Public Works, plans, directs and supervises all
functions of the Engineering Division and coordinates its activities with other divisions of
Public Works and other City departments; performs varied, difficult and complex
professional civil engineering work. Manages the Capital Improvement Program, private
development, permits, budgets, and Engineering staff. Manages the maintenance and
construction of City facilities and infrastructure. Performs other work as required.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Plans, organizes, directs, and supervises the work of the Engineering Division in the
preparation of designs, plans, specifications, estimates, and the inspection of a variety of
engineering projects, including streets, sidewalks, water distribution, traffic control
systems, sewer systems, drainage, buildings, parks and grounds; reviews development
and subdivision plans and specifications; updates the City’s Standard Specifications
periodically; supervises the writing of descriptions for easements and land acquisitions;
oversees all permits and inspections under Public Works-Engineering; makes difficult
technical decisions; promotes excellence, customer service and efficiency; prepares
technical reports and communicates effectively in writing and verbally; makes effective
presentations at public and group meetings; trains Engineering personnel to perform work according to recognized standards; prepares the budget for the Engineering Division; and applies modern methods and procedures to administrative and management functions including the use of automated or computerized engineering tools and information systems. Manages consultants and contractors to address complex issues. Prepares and oversees technical studies and reports required for capital improvement projects as well as private developments. Oversees the award and construction of CIP projects. Represents the Public Works Department/City before commissions, committees, and regulatory agencies. Interacts with members of the public, contractors and consultants to address issues and concerns.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of: Engineering principles and practices applicable to municipal public
works, including the design, construction, and maintenance requirements of public works projects; use of construction materials; provisions of the Public Contract Code,
Subdivision Map Act, construction safety regulations and other State and Federal regulations related to public works; the use of computers and automated devices for
managing information and other engineering applications.

Ability to: Supervise, manage and perform difficult and complex professional
engineering assignments; plan, layout, coordinate, and control through subordinates the
work of engineering design, review and inspection; comprehend and prepare complex
technical reports; establish cooperative and effective working relationships with
subordinates, employees, City officials, the general public, and other agencies; develop
and manage the Engineering Division budget and Capital Improvement budget in
assigned areas; interact positively and cooperate with co-workers, respond politely to
customers, work as a team member, function under demanding time pressure, respond in a positive manner to supervision, and attend work and perform duties on a regular and consistent basis.

Education: Graduation from a college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil
Engineering, including coursework applicable to Public Works and general administration.

Experience: Six years of increasingly responsible professional civil engineering
experience, at least three years of which shall have been served in a supervisory capacity.

License: Possession of a valid Certificate of Registration as a Civil Engineer issued by
the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers, or the ability to
attain a Certificate of Registration as a Civil Engineer within six months of appointment.

Possession of a valid Class C California Driver’s License.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Redwood City Fire Department is seeking individuals for the position of Cadet Firefighter. The Cadet Firefighter Program is designed to allow students an opportunity to gain firsthand knowledge of fire department operations. Fire Department Cadets spend a minimum of 48 hours and a maximum of 96 hours per month at the firehouse, participating in calls for service, station duties, and training. Cadets will also be expected to attend department-sponsored community functions outside of their 96-hour monthly commitment. Though the goal is to immerse the cadet into all aspects of fire department life, they are not allowed to participate in situations deemed Immediately Dangerous to Life and Health (IDLH).

This Fire Cadet position is a non-benefited volunteer position.

The Position

The San Bruno Police Department is recruiting for Per-Diem Public Safety Dispatchers. The San Bruno Police Department has a long-standing tradition of small-town service with big-city dedication to public safety. Public Safety Dispatchers are responsible for public safety dispatch and related records management activities. This is a per-diem position. Shifts are offered based on staffing needs, and per-diem employees may choose the open shifts that are available. Available shifts may include day, swing, or graveyard hours, including weekends, and holidays. Public Safety Dispatchers perform a wide range of duties involving radio, telephone, and computers, applying various procedures and codes. Dispatchers receive and transmit emergency and non-emergency telephone and radio traffic as well as process communication reports, records, and radio logs, while maintaining a high level of confidentiality. Dispatchers may also support the Police Department by performing clerical tasks, training, assisting with fingerprinting, and being accountable for financial transactions. This position is integral in supporting the goals and objectives of the City and Police Department. 

Examples of Duties

• Receives and transmits emergency telephone and radio traffic.  
• Maintains and processes a variety of communications reports, records and radio logs.
• Operates a dispatch console, uses Computer Aided Dispatch (C.A.D.) System and other computer programs to process information and records.
• Maintains a high level of confidentiality.

• Performs collateral duties including a variety of related clerical tasks: process warrants; assist in fingerprinting and jail operations, which may include searching prisoners; and is accountable for handling cash, bond, and check transactions.
   

• Maintains various C.A.D and Record Management Files.
• Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Supplemental Information

Part-time temporary employees serve in an at-will capacity and understand that service with the City may be terminated at any time. This position does not provide any benefits, with the exception of paid sick leave. In accordance with the Healthy Workplaces, Healthy Families Act of 2014, all temporary, part-time, and seasonal employees, who on or after July 1, 2015, work in California for 30 or more days within a year from the commencement of employment are entitled to paid sick leave for prescribed purposes. Employees will accrue one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked and are entitled to use accrued sick days beginning on the 90th day of employment. Employees may use up to 24 hours (or 3 days) of accrued sick leave in each year of employment.

Under general direction of the Finance Director, provides supervision to the Finance staff and performs a wide range of complex professional accounting duties in the analysis, preparation and maintenance of financial records and reports; makes complex and difficult account analyses and reports; develops, implements and revises accounting systems, procedures and internal controls; coordinates the outside audit preparation of the comprehensive annual financial report; coordinates various automated accounting systems and modules and trains accounting staff in the use of such systems; and performs related duties as assigned.

This position class is at the management level and performs diverse and specialized accounting work that is complex and involves significant accountability and decision-making responsibility. The Financial Services Manager is responsible for supervising accounting staff and managing areas such as payroll, billing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, grant accounting, capital project accounting, fixed asset accounting, enterprise fund accounting, and other accounting-related activities for all City funds.

Example of Duties: (Illustrative Only)

• Assists in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and work standards for the Finance department.
• Manages the timely and accurate preparation of budgeting documents and financial reports, including the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report, and participates as an active member of the Budget Team.
• Prepares complex journal entries and reviews and approves financial transactions, including journal entries, accounts payable invoices, revenue collection, accounts receivable billing, payroll postings, and purchasing documents. Prepares a variety of monthly, periodic and annual financial and statistical reports and accounting summaries required by the City, Successor Agency and outside agencies.
• Coordinates financial reporting and auditing activity with external auditors and other agencies; researches, compiles and analyzes data; prepares reports as required.
• Oversees fixed assets accounting to ensure accurate fixed asset records and provides information for capital and operating budgets.
• Assists in preparing financial reports and other information required by City departments and external agencies.
• Prepares audit schedules and reconciliations; responds to inquiries from auditors and provides information within the area of assignment. Provides professional, technical accounting and budget advice to City staff; coordinates activities with other departments; assists in special projects as assigned.
• Coordinates and conducts financial and management analyses, studies, assignments and projects, and performs ad-hoc analyses for the Council and senior management.
• Assists in rate and fee studies; makes related recommendations to senior management.
• Trains, motivates and assists in evaluating personnel; assists in establishing and monitoring employee performance objectives; assists in the preparation of employee performance reviews; provides and coordinates staff training.
• Provides backup support to the Finance Director; may provide occasional or emergency backup to the Information Technology & Systems Manager.

THE DEPARTMENT

The Water Quality Control Plant (WQCP) processes wastewater discharge for the cities of South San Francisco, San Bruno and the Town of Colma. The Water Quality Control Plant is a division of the Public Works Department staffed by 38 employees including: Plant Superintendent; Operation, Maintenance, Laboratory and Environment Compliance Supervisors; Senior Chemist; Chemist; Lead Plant Mechanics; Plant Mechanics; Lead Plant Operators; Plant Operators; Electricians; Senior Environmental Compliance Inspector; Environmental Compliance Inspectors, Utility Workers, and two Administrative Assistants.

THE LABORATORY

The WQCP laboratory conducts vital chemical and microbiological tests to the wastewater treatment plant 365 days a year. The laboratory analyzes water samples throughout the various stages of treatment process, and provides the operation with quick feedback critical to maintaining and optimizing the treatment process as well as meeting requirements for regulatory monitoring. The Laboratory is accredited by the Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (ELAP) under the State Water Resources Control Board, and maintains accreditation in accordance with the 2016 TNI Standard. 

The City of Menlo Park's Information Technology team is seeking a temporary IT Specialist who has a broad range of support skills to provide day to day computer/desktop support, end-point configuration and management, helpdesk support and management, and maintain and troubleshoot various systems hardware, software, peripherals, A/V, telephones and mobile devices. GENERAL INFO

Under general supervision, the Recreation Leader I/II provides essential support to recreation programs and services by performing custodial tasks, event setup and teardown, program support, and minor maintenance duties at various facilities, including parks and community centers. This temporary, part-time, at-will position requires working up to 20 hours per week. The role involves ensuring the facilities are clean, safe, and operational while delivering excellent customer service. Performs other duties as assigned.
