The City of Dixon is pleased to announce an exciting career opportunity!  We are currently recruiting for the position of Public Works Operations & Maintenance Superintendent (Manager) in our dynamic Public Works Department. This key leadership role plays a vital part in shaping the heart of our community.  This position will be responsible for planning, organizing, implementing, and supervising a wide range of Public Works Operations — including maintenance and operations of parks, landscaped areas, recreation facilities, streetscapes, streets, municipal buildings and facilities, and fleet.

This is a mid-management classification with broad responsibility for overseeing Public Works Operations. The Superintendent is entrusted with a variety of complex, high-level managerial and supervisory duties and receives administrative direction from the Public Works Director. The role also involves both direct and indirect supervision of Public Works Operations personnel.

The City of Woodland seeks a motivated public servant to join the City Manager's Office – Environmental Services Division as our Water Conservation Analyst Fellow. The Water Conservation Analyst will support key sustainability efforts by conducting a comprehensive analysis of municipal water usage and the City's response to leaks/over usage across public facilities. The Fellow will analyze five years of historical water consumption data to identify trends, anomalies, inefficiencies, and high-risk locations for water loss. A key focus of the project will be evaluating how the City currently tracks leaks and over-usage, how alerts are generated and routed, and how staff respond to those alerts. The Fellow will propose recommendations to improve leak detection, streamline response protocols, strengthen reporting systems, and reduce water waste supporting long-term water conservation goals.

IDEAL CANDIDATE
The Ideal Candidate will be interested in sustainability, municipal operations and public policy. They will also be analytical and detail-oriented, preferably with experience working with large datasets. They will be comfortable cleaning, organizing, and interpreting utility data. An individual skilled in Excel and/or data tools such as GIS, Power BI, Tableau, R, or Python will excel in this role.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Woodland Joint Unified School District (WJUSD) Service Center is seeking a motivated Civic Fellow to support inventory organization and management of parts and materials essential to district operations. This role provides hands-on experience in warehouse operations, inventory systems, and process improvement within a public education environment.

The Fellow will assess current storage and inventory practices and help implement a more efficient, organized system. Responsibilities may include developing labeling structures, organizing storage areas, establishing inventory tracking procedures, and improving material accessibility for staff. In collaboration with Service Center personnel, the Fellow will identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, organization, and accountability.

This fellowship offers practical experience in warehouse logistics, operational system design, and cross-functional collaboration, while building skills in organization, problem-solving, and process improvement within a public sector setting.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives general directions from the designated WCC host-site employee.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, organized, and motivated individual interested in operations, logistics, engineering, business, or public service. The Civic Fellow should be comfortable working independently and as part of a team, and willing to take initiative to improve organization and efficiency.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, a willingness to learn new systems, and the ability to think critically about processes. Interest in organization, data tracking, or hands-on operational work such as inventory or warehouse systems is desirable. Experience with spreadsheets or data entry is helpful but not required.
Additionally, the ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a positive attitude, and reliability. This position is well suited for someone who enjoys solving practical challenges and contributing to systems that help organizations run effectively.

THE POSITION OBJECTIVES/GOALS

1. Accurately assess and document current inventory of parts and materials within the WJUSD Service Center, including storage locations, item categories, and current organizational practices.

2. Review existing storage systems to identify inefficiencies, inconsistencies, or gaps, and coordinate with Service Center, Maintenance, and Transportation staff to improve organization.

3. Develop and implement a standardized organizational structure for parts and materials, including clear storage locations, labeling practices, and logical grouping of inventory.

4. Improve inventory accessibility and efficiency by helping establish procedures that allow staff to quickly locate, store, and track commonly used materials.

5. Create simple documentation and reference materials to support consistent inventory organization practices, including basic procedures for storing and locating materials.

6. Develop a working understanding of school district operational support systems, including how the Service Center supports Maintenance, Facilities, and Transportation functions.

7. Contribute to continuous process improvement by identifying opportunities to improve inventory organization, storage workflows, and material tracking practices.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Woodland Joint Unified School District (WJUSD) Maintenance, Operations, and Facilities Department is seeking a motivated Civic Fellow to support the district’s sustainability and environmental stewardship efforts. This role offers a hands-on opportunity to gain experience in sustainability practices, facilities operations, and process improvement within a public education setting.

The Civic Fellow will assist in assessing current district practices related to recycling, waste reduction, and resource conservation. This may include reviewing recycling programs, observing waste management practices at school sites, and identifying opportunities to improve sustainability efforts. Working closely with Maintenance, Operations, and Facilities staff, the Fellow will help research best practices and develop practical recommendations to improve environmental outcomes and operational efficiency.

This fellowship provides practical exposure to sustainability planning, facilities management, and public sector operations, equipping participants with valuable skills in research, data analysis, environmental practices, and process improvement while contributing to the district’s commitment to responsible resource management.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate is a motivated and detail-oriented individual with an interest in sustainability, environmental science, public administration, and/or facilities operations. The Civic Fellow should be comfortable conducting research, making observations, and working collaboratively with staff across multiple departments.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong organizational and problem-solving skills, curiosity, and a willingness to learn about sustainability practices. Interest in environmental responsibility, waste reduction, or operational efficiency is desirable. Experience with research, data collection, or spreadsheets is helpful but not required.

This position is well suited for someone who enjoys identifying practical solutions, working on real-world challenges, and contributing to efforts that improve environmental responsibility within a large organization.

THE POSITION OBJECTIVES/GOALS

The goals of the position are to:

1. Assess current sustainability practices within Maintenance, Operations, and Facilities, including recycling programs, waste disposal practices, and resource conservation efforts.

2. Review existing procedures and practices related to recycling and waste reduction, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and environmental impact.

3. Research best practices from other school districts or public agencies related to sustainability, recycling programs, and waste reduction strategies.

4. Support the development of recommendations to improve recycling participation, reduce waste, and promote sustainable practices across district sites.

5. Assist in developing simple guidance materials or communication tools to help staff and students better understand sustainability practices.

6. Develop a working understanding of school district facilities operations and the role of sustainability in supporting efficient and responsible operations.

7. Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying practical opportunities to strengthen sustainability practices and reduce environmental impact.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 4+ years of high school
• Local Woodland knowledge preferred
• Strong interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail 
• Strong computer skills
• Ability to build and maintain trust-based relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders 
• Eligible to work in the United States
• Valid California driver license (if driving is an essential duty)

SALARY RANGE

$20.00 - $25.00 / hour dependent on experience.

THE POSITION

Under general direction of the Executive Director, the Strategic Initiatives Director plans, develops, and leads high-priority organizational initiatives that advance Tri-City’s strategic goals and system transformation efforts. The position is responsible for designing and implementing complex, cross-departmental projects that expand services, strengthen community partnerships, and secure sustainable funding opportunities. The Strategic Initiatives Director works closely with executive leadership, internal divisions, and external partners to advance initiatives related to FFP/Medi-Cal, the Behavioral Health Services Act (BHSA), and social service program development while ensuring alignment with the agency’s long-term vision. Performs related duties as assigned.

This position will perform the following essential duties, including but not limited to:

• Collaborate with the Executive Director and executive leadership team to develop and execute organizational strategic initiatives aligned with Tri-City’s mission and Behavioral Health Services Act (BHSA) and broader social services priorities.
   

• Lead cross-departmental efforts to design, launch, and implement new programs, projects, and community partnerships that advance organizational goals.
   

• Monitor, evaluate, and report on outcomes of strategic initiatives to ensure effectiveness, accountability, and mission alignment.
   

• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, healthcare systems, community-based organizations, and funding partners to strengthen collaboration and expand service capacity.
   

• Represent Tri-City in regional and statewide initiatives focused on behavioral health system transformation while identifying opportunities that enhance service delivery and funding.
   

• Lead the research, development, and design of innovative behavioral health and inclusive supportive services programs.
   

• Monitor emerging trends, legislation, and funding opportunities, providing policy analysis and strategic recommendations to the Executive Team and Governing Board.
   

• Partner with Executive Administration, Finance, and Program teams to pursue and manage grants, contracts, and public-private partnerships that support strategic initiatives.
   

• Develop business plans and sustainability models for major initiatives and assist in planning and implementation of capital projects, including housing development.
   

• Serve as a strategic thought partner to the Executive Team and Governing Board in advancing Tri-City’s long-term vision and priorities.
   

• Lead cross-functional teams and task forces to deliver complex projects while mentoring and supporting staff engaged in strategic initiatives.

This position does not currently include direct supervisory responsibilities; however, there is potential for supervision of staff as strategic initiatives and programs expand in the future.

The City of Woodland has established a paid summer fellow program for individuals early in their career seeking public service experience. PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The City of Woodland Public Works Department is seeking a motivated Civic Fellow to support and enhance fleet data management operations. This role offers a hands-on opportunity to gain experience in municipal asset management and public sector budgeting.

The Civic Fellow will assist in updating and maintaining the City’s fleet management system, ensuring accurate records for vehicle assets, reserve fund balances, and fixed and variable rate information. Working closely with Public Works and Finance staff, the Fellow will help develop streamlined data management processes within the RTA fleet management software, improving operational efficiency and reporting accuracy.

This fellowship provides practical exposure to fleet asset tracking, financial record-keeping, and interdepartmental collaboration, equipping participants with valuable skills in data management, system implementation, and public sector operations setting the foundation for an exciting career in municipal government.

IDEAL CANDIDATE
The Ideal Candidate is a detail-oriented, organized, and motivated student or recent graduate with a strong interest in data management, fleet operations, and asset management. They are eager to gain hands-on experience using fleet management software to maintain accurate vehicle asset records, reserve fund balances, and fixed and variable rate information.

This individual is proficient with computer software systems, including spreadsheets and data tracking tools, and demonstrates the ability to efficiently organize, analyze, and maintain electronic records. Experience with databases or enterprise systems, as well as the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software applications, is highly desirable.

The ideal candidate communicates clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, and thrives in a collaborative environment, working closely with Finance and Public Works staff. They are proactive, willing to ask questions, and committed to learning complex processes while contributing to improving data quality, record-keeping, and documentation practices.

THE POSITION OBJECTIVES/GOALS

1. Accurately update fleet asset data in the City’s fleet management system (RTA), including vehicle asset records, reserve fund balances, and fixed and variable rate.

2. Accurately review existing records, identifying discrepancies or missing information, and coordinating with Public Works and Finance staff to verify and correct data.

3. Standardize and document data entry practices for fleet financial and asset information, including clear procedures for rate updates, reserve balance tracking, and vehicle record maintenance.

4. Improve data quality and reporting readiness by developing procedures to ensure fleet and financial records are complete, current, and aligned with internal reporting and budget preparation needs.

5. Provide technical support to other staff related to system use, data requests, and basic reporting from the fleet management system.

6. Develop a working understanding of municipal fleet operations and funding structures, including equipment replacement planning and reserve funding practices.

7. Contribute to continuous process improvement by identifying opportunities to improve data workflows, documentation, and coordination between Public Works and Finance.

The pay cycle is bi-weekly. No other benefits compensations are provided except for worker's compensation coverage and sick leave. Employees must contribute 1.45% of their salary to Medicare and 7.5% to a retirement plan under Federal Law.
