The Assistant Recreation Coordinator plays a key role in supporting daily program operations at the Community Center by assisting Recreation Coordinators and Supervisors in implementing high-quality recreation programs, supervising staff and volunteers, supporting community events, and helping ensure that City recreation facilities are safe, organized, and welcoming for all participants. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Supervise, schedule, train, and provide functional direction to primarily part-time recreation staff and volunteers
• Lead and facilitate recreation activities such as group games, sports, arts & crafts, and enrichment programs
• Assist with planning program curriculum and implementing daily recreation program operations
• Assign staff roles and support development and implementation of program activities
• Set up, organize, monitor, and maintain recreation equipment, supplies, and activity spaces
• Ensure recreation facilities are clean, safe, and welcoming for public use
• Interact with participants and parents while modeling and enforcing program and facility safety rules
• Maintain attendance, activity logs, and related program documentation using recreation registration software
• Assist with purchasing supplies and materials for assigned programs
• Support marketing and outreach efforts through email, flyers, and social media
• Assist with seasonal community events and Youth Commission-related activities
• Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and other assigned duties

The Senior Building Inspector conducts routine and complex inspections of buildings and structures at various stages of construction, alteration, and repair to verify compliance with approved plans and applicable building, accessibility, fire, electrical, energy, mechanical, plumbing, zoning, and sign codes. This position also performs plan checks of construction documents, prepares inspection reports, and issues corrective actions when necessary, while maintaining strict adherence to safety regulations on all job sites.

Under general supervision, the Senior Building Inspector provides technical assistance to the public, responds to inquiries regarding the construction process, and works collaboratively with other City departments. In addition, this role oversees inspection assignments, supervises and trains building inspectors, serves as the primary staff contact for building inspection complaints and dispute resolution, and performs related duties as assigned.

Experience and Training - Sr. Building Inspector 

Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

• Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent, and four (4) years of increasingly responsible and recent work experience in building inspection and/or construction. Public sector and lead or supervisory experience is preferred.

License and Certificate:

• Possession of a valid driver license and a satisfactory driving record throughout employment. 
• Possession of valid Combination Residential Inspector OR Combination Commercial Inspector, AND Plans Examiner certification from an approved agency. 

Special Requirements:

Some outdoor work is required in the inspection of various land use developments and construction projects. While performing the outdoor duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts around high- voltage energized electrical equipment, climbs scaffolding and ladders, works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and /or humid conditions.

The employee is occasionally required to stand; walls; use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; lift and /or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

The City of Orinda Parks and Recreation Department is currently seeking two (2) qualified individuals with the passion and desire to work with youth campers as a summer Camp Coordinator (Recreation Program Specialist) in the Parks and Recreation Department.   This position takes direction from the Camp Director and reports to the City's full-time Recreation Coordinator.

Supervision:

Under the general supervision of the Recreation Coordinator and Camp Director, Camp Coordinators are responsible for the day-to-day operations of their assigned summer day camp:  executing weekly curriculums by ordering supplies, supervising their camp staff, and leading all of their camp activities on a daily basis.  The City of Orinda offers two city-run camps:  Camp Orinda and Camp Orinda Jr.

Camp Orinda is a full-day (9:00 am to 4:00 pm) traditional camp for 6 to 11 year olds.

Camp Orinda Jr. is a half-day camp (9:15 am to 12:45 pm) for 3 1/2 to 5-year olds.

Essential Duties:

• Execute the camp curriculum in accordance with the Camp Director and Recreation Coordinator.
• Lead arts, crafts and games according to the theme of the week.
• Participate in weekly camp debriefs with Camp Director.
• Offer leadership, guidance and direction to Camp Counselors.
• Supervise Counselors-in-Training (CIT), pair CIT's with experienced Camp Counselors, and delegate CIT weekly duties during CIT camp week.
• Serve as a mentor and role model to campers and communicate effectively with guardians and families.
• Safely and appropriately supervise all campers.  Camp Orinda Coordinator will supervise campers on weekly field trips around the East Bay.
• Monitor supplies and create weekly supply list.
• Ensure the health and safety of all campers are prioritized in all summer camp programs.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Must have completed at least eleventh (11) grade or graduated from high school by the start of camp.  High school or college-level coursework in Recreation, Sports, Administration, Human Development, Education or related field is preferred.  

Experience: Recreation, athletics and/or education experience is desirable.  Experience teaching and/or working with children and youth age twelve (12) and under is preferred.

Licenses/Certifications: CPR, First Aid, and AED training and/or certification are required prior to the first day of camp.  There will be a CPR, First Aid and AED training at the May 30, 2026 training for any staff that is not certified by this date.

Special Requirements:   This is a mandated reporter position.  Appointment to this position is contingent upon:

• A valid work permit issued from school (if under age 18 and have not graduated from high school or received a State Certificate of Proficiency).

The Recreation Specialist is a unique position that is primarily responsible for specific projects or long term projects requiring relevant knowledge and expertise.

Supervision:

Under the general supervision of the Recreation Coordinator, the Camp Director assists the Recreation Coordinator in the administration of summer camp staffing, programming, training and camper/family relations.  The Camp Director is responsible for overseeing the camp coordinators and camp counselors, and the Director is the on-site camp liaison for families. 

This position is a 40 hour per week Monday through Friday seasonal position during summer.  In addition to staff recruitment and selection and summer program planning hours prior to camp start dates, there is also an opportunity to continue employment on a part-time basis with the Parks and Recreation Department during the school year to assist in the planning and implementation of Orinda Youth Sports (OYS), adult sports, and the Orinda Teen Advisory Council (OTAC).

Essential Duties:

• Collaborate with Recreation Coordinator to develop, coordinate and facilitate summer camp programs and activities.
• Oversee camp staff, and promote a safe, supportive and engaging environment for all staff.
• Assist Recreation Coordinator in staff hiring and training and with staff scheduling and evaluation.
• Lead weekly debriefs involving city-run summer camps with Camp Coordinators.

AHA is seeking to fill the Asset Management Specialist position in the Property Operations Department. The Asset Management Specialist performs a variety of specialized technical work in support of the Housing Authority’s asset management and property operations functions.
