The City of Brisbane is currently recruiting for non-sworn Police Officer Trainee candidates. This is for individuals that have no prior law enforcement experience and have not received POST certified police academy training. Trainees are paid while attending a POST-certified Police Academy. Upon successful completion of the police academy and upon availability of a police officer position, trainees are eligible to be sworn in as a Police Officer and become eligible for salary and benefits as outlined in the Brisbane Police Officers Association Memorandum of Understanding.

Police Officers are responsible for performing a wide variety of law enforcement duties involving the prevention of crime, protection of life and property, and the enforcement of laws and ordinances; controls traffic flow and enforce state and local regulations; perform investigative work and other related police work assignments. The Legislative and Regulatory Manager is responsible for organizing, assigning, reviewing and participating in the performance of a wide range of professional duties related to Pioneer Community Energy regulatory and legislative matters, with particular emphasis on representation of Pioneer’s interests at the California Public Utilities; develops Pioneer’s positions on complex issues; and develops analyses, written reports, and presentation materials to support Pioneer’s position. Duties include:

• Planning, prioritizing, and reviewing the performance of professional staff involved in the research and analysis of legislation and regulatory issues.
• Developing methods and schedules to accomplish assignments, ensuring work is completed in a timely and accurate manner.
• Tracking complex legislation and regulations through multiple amendments and preparing drafts of legislative and regulatory updates on policy issues and programs.
• Performing a variety of complex research projects on legislative and regulatory policy issue areas; preparing and presenting findings and recommendations of Pioneer's position.
• Representing Pioneer in regulatory proceedings through preparation of data requests, written responses, position papers, analytical models, testimony, and exhibits.
• Reviewing and drafting comments and briefs, providing high level technical and/or analytic input on regulatory and legislative matters.
• Overseeing the preparation of data requests, testimony, and hearing exhibits and participating in administrative hearings.
• Tracking, reviewing, analyzing and summarizing filings prepared by utilities and other entities that could impact Pioneer and its customers.
• Coordinating and working closely with technical experts and external regulatory counsel to develop effective and persuasive communications before the CPUC, CA Energy Commission, CA Legislature and any other legal or regulatory body as may be needed.

Qualified candidates will possess knowledge of California electric utility regulatory issues, CPUC regulatory practices, protocols and procedures; California utility rate design, electric resource planning, demand resources solutions and regulatory relations; and procedures, operations, and functions of legislative and regulatory agencies, including processes for the promulgation of regulations.

THE POSITION

The Police Dispatcher/Clerk is a non-sworn technical and complex clerical support classification associated with law enforcement support services assigned in the Town Police Department.  Police Dispatcher/Clerks learn and perform a variety of responsible records management, communications and dispatching duties for emergency and non-emergency calls for service. 

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Dispatches police officers to calls for service
• Provides assistance, information and directions to non-emergency callers including but not limited to police, fire, paramedic, animal control and public utilities calls for service, forwards non-emergency calls to proper personnel or departments
• Maintains awareness of field unit activities; communicates with field units through radio in accordance with Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulations; maintains status and location of units on patrol
• Retrieves information from State and National computer networks regarding wanted persons, stolen property, vehicle registration, stolen vehicles and other related information
• Enters call information into computer systems; logs and completes call forms, maintains records of calls for service and self-initiated officer activities
• Assists the public at the front counter; provides information and responds to general inquiries
• Performs other related duties as assigned

This position performs a variety of maintenance, operations, and repair work on the City's water distribution system, including pumps, mains, chlorinators, meters, and other equipment. 

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

Work is performed in a variety of different environments with exposure to varying weather conditions including high temperatures, rain, and wind. Work is performed with exposure to hazardous materials, smoke, gasses, and fumes; with exposure to hazards such as, moving machine parts and live electrical current; and exposure to loud and/or high frequency noise.
