• Inspects the work quality and materials used in a variety of public works construction projects, capital improvement projects, residential, commercial and industrial development within the city to ensure conformance with approved plans, specifications, codes, ordinances, laws and departmental regulations; observes and measures materials used in street, gutter, curb, sidewalk, parking lots, water and sewer systems, storm drain construction, underground improvements and capital projects; takes samples and arranges for laboratory tests.

Position requires sitting, standing, walking on level and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties. The position also requires both near and far vision when inspecting work and operating assigned equipment. The need to lift, carry and push tools, equipment and supplies weighing 25 pounds or more is also required. POSITION SUMMARY

The Wildfire Resilience Coordinator will manage projects related to the overall MRCA efforts regarding wildfire resilience, including tracking and analyzing existing funding sources related to wildfire preparedness and response, supporting staff project as defined by the early action wildfire resilience plan, coordinating with other MRCA and SMMC staff members working on wildfire related projects and programs, preparing and documenting further regional needs.

This position requires a highly motivated, responsible, organized and self-starting individual who can handle an array of tasks at the same time as part of standard workload, has good judgment and can make decisions, and works well independently and as part of a small team.

This is professional and technical work pursuant to the terms of grants, contracts, and applicable regulations, involving frequent communication with others. Project managers must also build community and political support, seek funding opportunities, actively cooperate with other government agencies and non­profit organizations, and keep abreast of related planning processes. The work performed will support MRCA’s capital Workprogram for wildfire resilience including improvements, workforce development, ignition prevention and suppression, inspection and monitoring and structure hardening and other MRCA efforts related to public access, open space conservation, habitat restoration, and urban park development. Special projects assigned or led by the Chief of Staff will be supported by this position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Interagency coordination: Coordinate with Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy grantees to perform tracking and data management on wildfire resilience grants.
• Coordinate with Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy, its grantees, and regional stakeholders to advance wildfire resilience efforts in Southern California.
• Determine project scope, options, and alternatives to overcome constraints. Revise as often as needed to address unexpected conditions.
• Demonstrate proactivity to initiate and drive projects, leveraging past experiences, consulting with colleagues, and referencing relevant documentation to successfully launch and manage projects without established precedents.
• Oversee consultants and contractors, manage contracts, coordinate project team and collaborate with coworkers to ensure that the project scope is completed according to grant agreements, schedules, and cost limits. Assist in selection of consultants/contractors.
• Write and coordinate grant proposals and research new funding opportunities for wildfire resilience and workforce development related planning efforts.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Required Hours And Location

Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week with some scheduling flexibility. Occasional overtime work in evenings or weekends upon prior approval by supervisor. The position will work remotely and out of the Los Angeles River Center and Gardens but may be required to travel to various other locations. Offices at the River Center are spread among multiple buildings and floors.

Public Contact

As public parklands, the majority of MRCA properties are open to the general public during operating hours. This position will have contact with members of the public in public areas such as parking lots and shared public/office restrooms, and during public meetings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The following generally describes the knowledge and ability required to enter the job and/or be learned within a short period of time in order to successfully perform the essential functions. Education and Experience

• B.A. or B.S. degree or higher in preferably environmental studies, education, project management, landscape architecture, or related field. Experience may substituted for academic degree.
• Two (2) years of highly relevant experience performing project management and administration duties that include: creative problem solving, working on an interdisciplinary team, coordinating consultants, technical writing, scheduling, and budgeting.
   

Knowledge of:

• Windows-based programs including word processing and spreadsheets, Office 365, iCompass.
• Office practices and procedures.

Ability To:

• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relations with those contacted in the course of work.
• Work independently, or as part of a team.
• Possess excellent oral and written English language skills. Not required to be a native English speaker, but fluency in English will be required.

THE POSITION

Tri-City is looking for an individual to serve as a Clinical Therapist I/II for the Adult Full-Service Partnership (FSP). The Clinical Therapist I/II will appeal to individuals who are inspired by challenges and opportunities presented in working with an engaged and active community with moderate to severe behavioral health clients. The Clinical Therapist will report to a Clinical Supervisor.

This position is responsible for a variety of ongoing responsibilities including, but not limited to:

• Provides individual, group, and family interventions, rehabilitation, and treatment services including counseling, therapy, case management, and referral and linkage to community services to a variety of clients including high-acuity clients.

• Within the scope of authority, assesses, diagnoses, and treats a variety of clients with mental health disorders; collaborates with clients and creates individualized treatments plans according to client’s needs and circumstances.

• Initiates and conducts individual, group, and family counseling and biopsychosocial therapy sessions utilizing a variety of techniques and modalities; provides case management services in the office and in the field.

• Performs routine and emergency intake evaluations according to Authority procedure;
  completes appropriate forms and documents relating to the intake process; and prepares medical and demographic case history for use in diagnosis.

• Assists clients and family members in understanding behavioral health diagnosis, contributing factors/causes, effects, prognosis, rehabilitation, and treatment.

• Works with clients to address stressors and barriers to treatment and/or social functioning; identifies and focuses on client strengths and personal resources to effectively engage and treat client.

Located at the McBean Memorial Pool, our Lifeguards and Water Safety Instructors are an essential part of the aquatics recreational programs that we offer our residents.  Be a part of a team that teaches important swimming skills and allows everyone to beat the heat and have fun!

We are looking for candidates with qualities such as reliability, creativity, dependability and enthusiasm.  The aquatics programs will require you to work various days, weekends or evenings, but we are flexible with schedules.

• Lifeguard: $16.50000-$18.55509 hourly
• Water Safety Instructor: $16.80000-$19.48285 hourly

DEFINITION:

Under the direct or general supervision of the Recreation Coordinator, performs a variety of duties to supervise the pool, decks, and additional areas of an aquatic facility. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (include but are not limited to the following)

• Maintain constant surveillance as assigned to safeguard swimmers from drowning and other accidents.
• Maintain discipline and orderly conduct among patrons and enforce all pertinent City pool rules and regulations in order to maintain a safe environment.
• Promote and enforce water safety procedures; effect swimming rescues; render first aid and CPR as required.
• Assist in the planning, promoting and organizing of prescribed Red Cross programs and special events.
• Perform pool facility maintenance functions as required.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other City employees, and the public using principles of good customer service.
• Prepare and maintain accurate and up-to-date records and reports.
• Conduct classes at all participant levels (beginning through advanced) and supervise students and swim lesson aide(s). 
• Prepare daily lesson plans for assigned swim instruction classes.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Perform heavy manual labor; learn to operate a variety of equipment; work with tools related to recreational maintenance. The position requires sitting, standing, walking on level and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties. The incumbent needs to have the ability to hear and speak for purposes of communication. The position also requires both near and far vision when administering programs and operating equipment. The need to lift, carry and push equipment and supplies weighing 25 pounds or more is also required. The incumbent in this outdoor position works in all weather conditions, including wet, hot, and cold.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: (The following are a representative sample of the KSAs necessary to perform essential duties of the position.)

Knowledge of:

Principles and techniques of swimming instruction for various age groups; principles and practices of water safety and swimming rescue techniques; proper stroke mechanics; principles and techniques of CPR and first aid; practices and methods of public relations and customer service; and techniques and principles of effective interpersonal communication.
