THE POSITION: This limited term position supports the Youth and Family Services Bureau (YFSB) in the Police Department to strengthen and enhance services provided to Hayward families to keep youth positively engaged in the community and out of the juvenile justice system. The Lead Program Assistant works with YSFB mental health counselors to provide case management, life skills training, diversion, restorative justice, and other services.
The limited term position is dependent on ongoing funding for the program. Funding has already been secured through FY2026 (June 30, 2026) with the possibility of an extension or permanent funding in FY 2027.

The Lead Program Assistant is a Citywide classification; current vacancies exist in the Police Department however future citywide vacancies may be filled from this recruitment. You are:

THE POSITION:

This is a division head management position at the Hayward Executive Airport, reporting to the Airport Manager. The incumbent is responsible for the management of the business and accounting functions at the airport and provides second-line supervision and direction of staff within the Airport Division. This position is distinguished from the Airport Operations Supervisor classification which is responsible for the direct supervision of staff performance of Airside and Landside operations and maintenance tasks at the airport. Monitor account receivables and collect past due amounts.
 
Prepare annual business permits and monitor tenant compliance.

Prepare Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Caltrans grant applications and related documents.

The Positions

Building Maintenance Workers (HVAC) design, fabricate, inspect, install, troubleshoot and evaluate problems with HVAC equipment.  They also repair heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems and related apparatus. Additionally, they install, repair and/or replace controls for energy management system as well as perform preventive maintenance and sheet metal work, including design and fabrication.

The Building Maintenance Division of the Maintenance Operations Department is also seeking experienced Building Maintenance Workers to provide general maintenance support for all public facilities, such as City Hall, Historic Buildings, Fire Stations, Police Department, Recreation facilities, and Rental Housing. Maintenance tasks for the general assignment typically include painting, electrical repairs, wall repair, roof repair, carpentry/metal work, and floor repair.

In this role, you will perform skilled inspection work with City residential housing inspection programs. Must possess:

• An International Code Council (ICC) OR California (CA) certification in Residential Building or Housing Inspection or in Code Enforcement; and
• ICC or CA Residential or Commercial Electrical Inspector certification and ICC or CA Residential or Commercial Plumbing Inspector certification, or equivalent ICC or CA Legacy Certification for either Combination Inspector or Combination Dwelling Inspector.

Other requirements: Must be able to travel to various locations within and outside the City of Berkeley to meet the program needs and to fulfill the job responsibilities. When driving on City business, incumbent is required to maintain a valid California driver's license as well as a satisfactory driving record.

In addition to the qualifications above, the ideal candidate will have effective and courteous communication skills in order to discuss housing violations, violation remedy and necessary inspections and fees and participate in depositions and court hearings as requested. DEFINITION

• Compose and edit Town’s printed quarterly newsletter and monthly email newsletters, working cross-departmentally to gather information.
• Manage production schedules for publications, including the printed quarterly newsletter, monthly email newsletters, and activity guide.
• Work collaboratively with project and program leads to gather information to convey key initiatives accurately and effectively to the community. 
• Develop content for and monitor the Town’s website at danville.ca.gov to ensure information is relevant and timely.
• Maintain the Town’s public engagement website at DanvilleTownTalks.org
• Photograph Town programs, events and projects and attend public meetings, as needed; serve on Town-wide committees and ad hoc project assignments.
• Edit photos and videos for use across Town platforms.
• Provide logistical and operational support for Town-sponsored events, including vendor coordination, permits, and on-site setup/breakdown.
• Attend and provide on-site assistance at Town events, working flexible hours as needed.
• Help manage small-scale business programs and data collection.
• Perform duties within OSHA standards and other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:

• Correct English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation. Knowledge of Associated Press Style strongly preferred.
• Social media campaigns and best practices across multiple platforms.
• Modern office methods, procedures, organization and equipment including Office 365, Meta Business Suite, Canva, and website CMS.
• Photography, videography, and content production and editing techniques.

Ability to:

• Work independently, creatively, collaboratively, and efficiently with minimal supervision.
• Communicate effectively in both verbal and written form.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and the public.
• Develop project work plans and schedules; determine priorities to meet assigned deadlines.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Experience:
A minimum of three (3) years of professional communications, public relations, community engagement, project management, or marketing work. Compensation within the salary range is dependent on experience, and candidates should expect to start within the lower half of the range.

Education:
A Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public administration, or a closely related field.

LICENSE(S) AND CERTIFICATION(S)
Possession of a valid California State Driver's License, or license in another state with the ability to obtain a California license within 30 days of hire.

THE POSITION:

The City of Hayward is excited to announce an opportunity to join its progressive and dynamic Transportation Division as an Assistant Transportation Engineer. Reporting to the Deputy Director of Public Works, the Assistant Transportation Engineer will play a key role in supporting the delivery of transportation projects to provide a safer and more sustainable transportation system in the City. Typical projects involve multi-modal roadway design, traffic calming, traffic engineering analysis, and intelligent transportation systems.

What you will do: 
Duties may include but are not limited to the following:

• Depending upon assignment, duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
• Conduct field studies and analyze traffic conditions and issues.
• Prepare transportation engineering plans and alternate plans, including cost estimates.
• Design transportation engineering projects, including specifications for traffic signals, street signs and markings, street lighting, channelization, and parking facilities with full awareness of traffic safety principles.
• Perform calculations and computations related to traffic design and analysis.
• Check construction plans and design detours around construction sites.
• Confer with contractors, engineers, property owners, courts and other agencies.
• Answer inquiries, investigate complaints, and provide information to the general public.
• Attend project meetings and engineering conferences.
• Read and interpret local, state, and federal traffic ordinances and regulations.
• Prepare grant applications for special funding.
• Direct and review work of other professional and technical personnel.
• Assist with implementation of City traffic calming (speed hump) program.
