The City of Belmont Public Works Department is recruiting for the position of Mechanic.

The City’s Mechanic position is responsible for maintaining, servicing, and repairing all City-owned vehicles and light and heavy equipment; troubleshooting and diagnosing vehicle malfunctions; performing preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment; and performing a variety of tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.  The Mechanic receives general supervision from the Senior Mechanic.

The responsibilities and duties of the Mechanic may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Inspect, diagnose, maintain and repair mechanical defects in vehicles, light and heavy equipment, trucks, tractors, rollers and related City equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair problems in vehicle electrical, cooling, brake and steering systems; change and repair tires as needed.
• Inspect, diagnose and maintain batteries, alternators, voltage regulators and electrical engine controls; install new lights, wires, alternators, distributors, relay lights and switches.
• Disassemble engines, transmissions, clutches and other driveline components; perform general overhauling.
• Tune, repair and adjust engines, transmissions, drive shafts, rear-ends and smog components on City vehicles and power driven equipment; lubricate and change oil and filters.
• Replace and/or repair any worn parts in vehicles, trucks, tractors, sweepers, rollers and other mechanical equipment including but not limited to spark plugs, brakes, master cylinders, wheel cylinders, wheel bearings, clutches and exhaust systems.
• Perform welding as required to repair equipment.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of time, work, parts, materials and outside service costs.
• Perform duties while utilizing a variety of hand tools and other equipment including brake tools, drill presses, grinding equipment, welders, cutting torches, lifts and related equipment; operate all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
• Estimate cost and time of procedures; prepare invoices.
• Maintain cleanliness in the shop area.
• Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

Job Description

Under general direction, the Waterfront Property Manager implements programs for management and leasing of Port land and buildings for retail, commercial, office and industrial uses.  Responsibilities include an assignment that focuses   on a combination of property management, leasing and occasional special events coordination.

The essential functions of this position include:

• Ensures lease compliance, regularly inspecting leased areas to determine if property is maintained in accordance with the lease and inspects vacant spaces to determine maintenance and repair needs.
• Negotiates lease, lease renewals, license agreements, Memorandum of Understanding and permits with prospective and current tenants in accordance with established Port policies and practices, legal and regulatory restrictions and market conditions to maximize the potential revenue of the Port.
• Drafts leases, license agreements and other documents in accordance with established policies and practices for the review and approval of Port management and legal counsel.
• Responds to requests from tenants and members of the public for maintenance, repairs, improvements and modifications, establishing cooperative relationships with Port’s neighbors and tenants while protecting the Port’s interests.
• Initiates work requests for repairs and improvements for both leased and unleased property with the Port’s Maintenance Department. 
• Reviews the aging report and tenant ledgers with the Collections Officer to analyze and reconcile tenant accounts.  Position requires the negotiation of payment plans and settlement agreements, drafting default and 3-day notices, and preparation of forms to correct and initiate billing.
• On behalf of Port Real Estate, review and provide comments on plans submitted for building permits, acting as a liaison between tenants and Port building and fire inspectors.
• Conducts market and feasibility studies related to marketing operations of retail, commercial and industrial property to provide current information to be used in management’s evaluation and appraisal of proposed projects.
• Abstracts lease agreements to document key lease provisions.
• Documents tenant-related matters to include incidents, agreements, and understandings, to ensure accurate records and effective communication.
• Assists the Special Event Coordinator with assessing potential impacts of certain events on Port facilities and tenants.  Communicates with Port tenants and other external stakeholders on potential impacts such as street closures or restricted access to Port facilities.
• Responds to complaints regarding the facilities, noise, traffic, trash, etc. 
• Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Full-Time Head Preschool Teacher at Belmont Community Learning Center

$59,475.84 -$72,293.28 annually

In this full-time role, you’ll be the lead for our 2–3-year-old classroom, helping our youngest learners grow through play, learning, and exploration. You’ll create a safe and engaging space, support toilet training and diapering, and build meaningful connections with children and families. Depending on program needs, your work hours will be either 7:30 AM–4:30 PM or 9:00 AM–6:00 PM.

What We’re Looking For:

You’re someone who understands:

• Child development milestones, especially for ages 2–5

• Title 22 California Childcare Licensing regulations

• Basic health, hygiene, and first aid practices for preschoolers

What You’ll Do:

• Welcome children and families daily with warmth and professionalism

• Lead planning and hands-on implementation of age-appropriate curriculum and play-based activities

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Town of Atherton invites you to apply for the position of Associate Engineer in the Public Works Department. The position, general supervision, performs various professional field and office engineering work related to the management, planning, design, construction, and maintenance of the Town’s public works infrastructure, associated with the Capital Improvement Program (CIP); provides project management oversight, coordination and administration; conducts development plan reviews and inspections; confers with developers, contractors, and representatives of other agencies regarding facility and infrastructure development and maintenance; administers professional services and construction contracts; provides professional staff assistance to the Director of Public Works, other departments, and the public in areas of expertise; performs a variety of studies and prepares and presents staff reports; and assist in the development of the Department budget and monitors revenue and expense budgets on an ongoing basis.

Typical duties include, but are not limited to:

• Plans, manages, designs, and inspects all phases of civil engineering public works construction projects, including defining the scope of the project; coordinating with permitting and public utility agencies; applying engineering principles and practices to specific problems; coordinating construction schedules with other projects and agencies; preparing and reviewing cost estimates; and inspecting construction of projects to ensure compliance with construction documents; performs related planning and design work.
• Review of proposed private development projects; including issues related to public works, hydrology, grading, scheduling, traffic control, and erosion; prepares public works conditions of approval for proposed development.
• Reviews construction plans prepared by consulting engineers and private contractors; checks plans for conformance with regulations; reviews engineering calculations; participates in pre-design, construction, and coordination meetings and issues construction permits.
• Develops consultant requests for proposal for professional and/or construction services and the advertising and bid processes; evaluates proposals and recommends project award; administers contracts after award; ensures contractor compliance with Town standards and specifications, time and budget estimates; analyzes and resolves complex problems that may arise; recommends and approves field changes as required.
• Monitors and pursues grant opportunities for improvements in public works programs.
• Participates in the development of the Town’s Capital Improvement Program (CIP)
• Participates in the San Mateo County Cleanwater Program and assists with compliance and reporting associated with the Municipal Regional (NPDES) Stormwater Permit.
• Performs other related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in civil engineering or a related engineering field.

Certification: Posses and maintain a valid certificate of registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of California.

Knowledge of:

• Civil engineering principles, techniques, policies, and procedures,
• Principles and practices of capital improvement program budgeting, cost estimation, funding, project management, and contract administration,
• Basic principles, practices, procedures, and standards related to Town public works infrastructure development and maintenance, engineering, and surveying
• Practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations, and preparing and presenting effective staff reports

Skills and Ability to:

• Prepare, understand, and interpret engineering construction plans, specifications, and other contract documents.
• Assist in and develop and administer contracts for professional services and construction in a public agency setting.
• Effectively represent the department and the Town in meetings with governmental agencies, community groups, and various business, professional, and regulatory organizations and individuals.
• Prepare and present clear, concise, and logical written and oral reports, correspondence, policies, procedures, legal descriptions, and other written materials.
