ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City invites you to apply for the position of Equipment Mechanic I/II.  The Equipment Mechanic works within the Equipment Services Section within the Public Works Department, and is responsible for making minor and major mechanical repairs to automotive, diesel and other power-driven equipment, performing routine maintenance and servicing, and performing specialized mechanical and fabrication work as required.  

Equipment Mechanic I:

This is the entry level in the Equipment Mechanic class series. Positions in this class perform mechanical repair work of a routine to moderately complex nature, working under the guidance and training of more experienced mechanics.

Equipment Mechanic II:

This is the full journey level in the Equipment Mechanic class series. Positions assigned to this class perform the full range of journey level automotive and equipment maintenance work typically assigned to Equipment Mechanics. In addition, an Equipment Mechanic II assumes responsibility for providing training for Equipment Mechanic I’s and regularly performs the most complex maintenance and repair work in the shop.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City invites you to apply for the position of Senior Civil Engineer.  The Senior Civil Engineer performs complicated engineering, planning, design, and review activities and exercises lead supervision over others as assigned.  The work, projects, and systems assigned may involve managements of park field and facilities improvements, building facilities improvements, land development reviews & approvals, right-of-way permit process, roads and utilities improvements, transportation & traffic planning and improvements, and/or building construction. DESCRIPTION 

The City of Thousand Oaks is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Human Resources Analyst to serve as the program manager for employee and labor relations. 

Working under the general direction of the Deputy Director and Director of Human Resources, the Senior Human Resources Analyst oversees complex employee relations matters; conducts and coordinates workplace investigations; manages employee discipline processes; and supports labor negotiations with the City’s three recognized employee associations. 

This role works closely with the City Attorney’s Office, outside labor counsel, and external investigative firms to ensure employee and labor relations matters are handled consistently, lawfully, and in accordance with City policies and labor agreements. The position also partners with department management and supervisory staff to address employee concerns, promote consistent practices, and support effective performance management. 

In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor to City departments and executive leadership, ensuring employment decisions align with applicable laws, labor agreements, and best practices. You will play a key role in maintaining productive labor-management relationships and supporting a fair, consistent approach to employee conduct and performance. 

While the primary focus of this position is employee and labor relations, the position may also be assigned responsibilities within the City’s safety and risk program. Specific duties will depend on the qualifications and skills of the selected candidate. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Coordinate and manage employee relations matters across City departments, including guidance on performance management, disciplinary actions, conflict resolution, and policy interpretation, under the direction of HR leadership. 

• Conduct and coordinate workplace investigations involving allegations of misconduct, discrimination, harassment, and other policy violations, in collaboration with HR leadership, the City Attorney’s Office, and external investigators, as appropriate. 

• Support disciplinary processes by ensuring consistency, legal compliance, and adherence to due process requirements. 

• Support labor negotiations with the City’s three recognized employee bargaining units, including data analysis, proposal development, contract drafting support, and preparation of negotiation materials and communications. 

• Interpret and administer Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) and assist departments in understanding and applying negotiated agreements and relevant labor laws. 

• Serve as a key liaison among Human Resources, City departments, labor organizations, legal counsel, and external partners to support constructive labor-management relationships. 

• Provide advanced analysis and recommendations to HR leadership on employee and labor relations matters, employment law considerations, and policy development. 

• Develop and deliver training for supervisors and managers on employee relations topics, disciplinary processes, investigations, and contract compliance. 

• Monitor changes and trends in labor and employment law and assist HR leadership in evaluating impacts on City policies, procedures, and practices. 

• Serve as a technical resource on risk and workplace safety regulations and policies, as assigned, and support compliance and advisory efforts.

ABOUT THE FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM

The Department of Community Development is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Management Fellow. ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City, Community Development Department is seeking a value-driven team player to join the Department. Through mentorship and under general supervision, the Fellow will assist in coordinating and managing specific projects to completion in the areas of budgeting, planning, community engagement, procurement, and legislative policy, especially related to the Planning and Building Divisions in Community Development.

Some of the various projects and responsibilities may include:

• Performing policy research and analysis, identifying relevant legislation, and developing recommendation positions as related to Planning and Building policy

DESCRIPTION 

The City of Thousand Oaks is seeking a highly skilled and collaborative technology leader to serve as its first Deputy Chief Technology Officer (Deputy CTO). This position will play a critical role in supporting the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) in building, operating, and maturing the City’s newly established Information Technology (IT) Department. 

The Deputy CTO will serve as a key partner to the CTO, helping translate the City’s Information Technology Strategic Plan (ITSP) into effective, day-to-day operations and successful project execution. While the CTO focuses on long-term vision, executive leadership, and Citywide strategy, the Deputy CTO will provide strong operational leadership, oversee core technology functions, and ensure consistent delivery of high-quality IT services across the organization. 

This is a unique opportunity to help build a new department from the ground up in a forward-thinking, well-resourced municipal organization, while shaping how technology supports City services, employees, and the community. 

The Deputy CTO will report directly to the Chief Technology Officer and may serve as the CTO’s designee in meetings, projects, and decision-making as assigned. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Department Operations & Leadership 

• Support the CTO in establishing and maturing the City’s standalone IT Department, including policies, procedures, governance, and service delivery models. 

• Provide day-to-day operational leadership for IT functions, ensuring stability, reliability, and performance of Citywide technology systems. 

• Supervise, mentor, and develop IT management and technical staff; promote a culture of service, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

• Monitor technology trends and recommend practical, value-driven solutions that improve service delivery and organizational efficiency. 

Cross-Department Collaboration 

• Serve as a trusted partner to City departments, helping translate business needs into effective technology solutions. 

• Facilitate collaboration between IT and operational departments to improve business processes, user experience, and system adoption. 

• Represent IT in interdepartmental meetings, steering committees, and project teams as assigned by the CTO.

An incumbent in this position is a Human Resources generalist performing a wide range of personnel assignments in administering and processing health and welfare benefits; managing the administrative duties associated with the Personnel Board and overseeing the preparation and management of all employee requisition and action forms; managing the office and providing administrative support to the Director of Human Resources, Assistant to the Director of Human Resources, Senior Management Analyst, the Human Resources Analyst(s) and Human Resources Specialist(s).

The Library Information Technology Technician is distinguished from the Information Technology Analyst series in that the latter supports the following: computer systems for various departments’ citywide, data center operations, complex networking equipment, telephony and WAN technologies.  This class is further distinguished from the Library Systems Coordinator class in the latter is responsible for overall coordination of activities related to the library’s information system.

The anticipated hiring range for the Engineering Assistant position is $91,185 - $113,982 annually, with a full salary range up to $136,778.  

The anticipated hiring range for the Engineering Associate position is $100,652 - $125,815 annually, with a full salary range up to $150,978.

DESCRIPTION 

The Capital Improvement Division of the Public Works Department is seeking up to two motivated and capable individuals who can approach challenges with confidence and professionalism. Ideal candidates will have experience/background in civil engineering and utilities design and/or construction.  

The position may be filled as an Engineering Assistant, Engineering Associate, or Associate Engineer, depending on the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and certifications. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Prepare and oversee the preparation of  design plans and specification, construction documents, engineering studies and reports 

• Assist the Project Team (Division Manager, Senior Engineer, and outside consultants) in managing and performing varying responsibilities including permitting, preparation of construction documents, drawings, specifications, and estimates or the city capital projects, which may include water, wastewater, storm drain, landscape, pavement, and roadway improvements.

DEFINITION

Under general supervision, provide recreational and educational instruction and activities, social development, guidance and care for preschool and elementary age children by leading and assisting in the selection and coordination of a variety of activities and curriculum at a childcare site.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Child Care Lead Teacher is the lead teacher in the classroom.  Child Care Lead Teachers may also be asked to temporarily oversee a school site when a Site Coordinator is offsite.  If a situation arises where a Site Supervisor is unavailable for an extended period of time a Child Care Lead Teacher with a Site Supervisor Permit will be asked to act as a temporary Site Supervisor.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:

General supervision is provided by the Child Care Site Coordinator. Child Care Lead Teacher  supervises the classrooms to which they are assigned, including Child Care Aides, Associate Teachers, Teachers, and Full-time Teachers that are assigned to their programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

• Assist in the development of a diversified program of recreational games, sports, arts, crafts, and other activities for elementary school children.

The City of Millbrae has multiple openings for the Recreation Leader (Summer Camp Counselor) position! This position will focus on our Millbrae Adventure Summer Camp, working as a Camp Counselor.  Hours will vary, and applicants are expected to be available to work full camp weeks. Recreation Leaders are also expected to attend a mandatory, paid training.

Definition: Under supervision, to provide leadership to recreation programs, activities or service; organizes and implements program elements and oversees participants; and performs related work as required.  This is a temporary part-time non-benefited position. 

Essential Duties:  Depending upon assignment, the duties of a Summer Camp Counselor - Recreation Leader I , II or III may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Assists in planning, organizing, and leading summer camp activities.

• Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Special Requirements:   Vision adequate to supervise participants in recreational programs; speak clearly; ability to bend stoop or crouch; physical stamina to supervise groups of youth participating in recreational programs; ability to work off-hours, shifts or events as required; strength to lift and carry materials weighing up to 20 pounds; and the ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather and temperature conditions.

Minimum Qualifications:

Knowledge of: 

• Common crafts, sports, games and recreation activities appropriate for all ages.
• Principles and methods used in organizing, conducting and supervising a program of recreational activities.
• Record keeping techniques.
• Basic first aid and safety practices and procedures.
• Basic youth development principles.

 Ability to: 

• Conduct daily camp operations including leading groups, activities, field trips, and set-up/break down of activities.
• Prioritize and handle multiple program tasks.
• Think and act quickly in emergencies.
• Judge situations and people accurately.
• Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
• Establish and maintain effective and cooperative relationships with subordinates, peers, supervisors, and the public.
• Perform work in a safe manner.
• Perform the physical duties of the job.

Education & Experience: 

Recreation Leader I:  Current enrollment in high school, with minimum age of 15 at time of appointment.  Must possess a work-permit. No previous experience required.

Recreation Leader II:  Current enrollment in high school, with minimum age of 16 at time of appointment.  Equivalent to three (3) months of full-time experience (approximately 500 hours) of volunteer or paid work experience in recreation programs or equivalent. Depending on area of assignment, previous knowledge of and experience participating in the activity and/or sport is desirable. 

Recreation Leader III:  Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12) grade.  Equivalent to six (6) months full-time experience (approximately 1000 hours) of volunteer or paid work experience equivalent to a Recreation Leader II with the City of Millbrae. Depending on area of assignment, previous knowledge of and experience participating in the activity and/or sport is desirable.

Certificates:  Must possess a first aid/CPR certification, or be willing to obtain one. 

Service Standards:  

Must successfully complete background process.  All candidates will be fingerprinted pursuant to California State Law.  All successful candidates under age 18 must possess a work permit prior to hire.
