What you will do: 
Duties may include but are not limited to the following:

Performs specialized and detailed work in the review and processing of various financial records and related materials; ensures the integrity of data and information related to area of assignment which may include cash management, payroll, accounts payable/receivable and consolidated billing.

Analyzes and reconciles a variety of journals, accounts, reports and records; to prepare, process, and maintains accounting system records, and transactions.

Prepares journal entries and general ledger reconciliations and performs month and year-end closing of accounting records; assists with City-wide budget development and monitoring.

Balances financial information system controls; balances and posts financial transactions to ledgers and sub-ledgers and reconciles to the accounting system; and balances various other financial transactions with source documents and controls.

Processes and prepares payrolls; responds to staff regarding payroll related questions; updates employee information in payroll systems.

Maintains subsidiary records of fixed assets and depreciation, and tags all fixed assets.

Assists in the preparation of schedules as required for audits and special requests.

Prepares, compiles, tabulates and maintains data and complex documents; assists with preparing technical financial, statistical and operational reports, statements and records.

Responds to inquiries from the public in person, by telephone, and/or in writing, regarding areas of responsibility and initiates appropriate action to resolve problems.

Researches and answers inquiries from employees and other City departments regarding the status of accounts and payments, including proper transaction coding and related matters.

Builds and maintains positive working relationships with co-workers, other City employees and the public using principles of good customer service.

Assists in daily operations providing general clerical support as needed.

Performs related work as necessary.

Education: Equivalent to an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance or a related field. 

License: Possession and maintenance of a valid Class C California Driver's License.

Hayward is excited to announce an opportunity to join its progressive and dynamic Transportation Division as the Senior Transportation Engineer. Reporting to the Deputy Director of Public Works – Transportation, Principal Transportation Engineer, or assigned supervisor, the Senior Transportation Engineer will manage the development of various transportation plans and projects; provide oversight and management on major strategic initiatives as stipulated by City Council; plan, assign and review the work of transportation engineering staff; perform technical evaluations related to traffic operations in the City, including signal system operations, streetlight system operations, management of neighborhood traffic calming efforts; perform complex and advanced transportation engineering related studies; and provide overall support to the Deputy Director of Public Works – Transportation, Principal Transportation Engineer, or assigned supervisor.

Essential Duties

What you will do: 
Duties may include but are not limited to the following:

• Manages the City's Traffic Management Center and makes recommendations on signal timing and other operational improvements, for the city's 135 signalized intersections.
• Troubleshoots overall traffic operations and traffic safety concerns reported by the community both in the office and in the field.
• Manages and/or prepares various transportation studies or programs.
• Plans, prioritizes, assigns, supervises and reviews the activities and staff in the traffic operations unit of the Transportation section.
• Participates in the preparation of plans and specifications for new and modified traffic signals, street lighting systems and related traffic control devices.
• Prepares grant applications for federal, state, regional or other funding.
• Recommends and assists in the implementation of the Transportation section's goals and objectives; establishes schedules and methods for transportation engineering activities and projects.
• Assists with and conducts the more complex transportation engineering projects and activities; prepares recommendations for traffic signal timing and coordination improvements; prepares traffic signal timing plans; and supervises and participates in collecting, tabulating and analyzing traffic information.
• Acts as City Traffic Engineer.
• Provides professional and technical staff assistance.
• Supervises the City's speed lump program and makes recommendations for alternative traffic calming measures as appropriate.
• Supervises and participates in preparation of work orders for installation, removal or replacement of traffic control devices.
• Confers with neighborhood groups, property owners and others relative to information on traffic operations activities; coordinates responses to inquiries from the public, City Council, City Manager and City staff relative to traffic operations issues;
• Coordinates traffic operations unit activities with other City departments; serves as liaison between  the City and  boards, councils, outside organizations, and commissions as directed; prepares and presents staff reports and presentations at various City Council, commissions, boards, and other governmental meetings; prepares  City Council agenda reports; serves on and attends various committees and task forces, attends  Planning Commission, City Council  and neighborhood meetings as necessary.
• Makes presentations on traffic and transportation issues to citizen and neighborhood groups, City Council, and Planning Commission as appropriate.
• Periodically attends and represents the City at the Alameda County Transportation Commission, Metropolitan Transportation Commission and other regional agencies meetings as appropriate.
• Prepares and reviews agreements for traffic signal maintenance and streetlight maintenance support as needed.
• Participates in budget and Capital Improvement Program (CIP) preparation and administration; prepares cost estimates for budget recommendations; monitors and controls expenditures; recommends funding needs for traffic operations unit functions and capital projects; monitors CIP project expenditures related to traffic operations, and identifies funding sources to supplement the budget for the traffic operations unit.
• Builds and maintains positive working relationships with co-workers, other City employees and the public using principles of good customer service.
• Participates in the selection of transportation engineering staff; provides and coordinates staff training; works with employees to correct deficiencies; and implements discipline procedures.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

• Principles, practices, methods and techniques used in traffic engineering and operations.
• Pertinent local, state and federal laws, ordinances and rules including, the California Vehicle Code, the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), the MUTCD California Supplement and the Highway Capacity Manual.
• Traffic signal system design including communications, timing plans, controller functions and interconnect system design; signal operations, signal optimization software such as SYNCHRO, SIMTRAFFIC, TRANSYT, PASSER, HCS, analysis of traffic operations, development and maintenance of traffic control inventories.
• Traffic management software such as SCATS.
• Various traffic signal controllers such as NAZTEC and Econolite.
• Video detection equipment such as Pentel zoom cameras.
• Techniques for analyzing and developing signal timing and coordination plans and use of traffic signal operational analysis and timing software.
• Techniques for improving traffic operations and mitigating impacts in neighborhoods, the downtown and in other areas of the City, and for improving traffic operations and safety on the City's arterial system.
• Regional transportation planning, funding and oversight agencies including the Alameda County Transportation Commission, Metropolitan Transportation Commission, Air Quality Management District and others as appropriate.
• Street design strategies to address the need to make streets accessible to all users, i.e. Complete Streets.
• Basic telecommunication for traffic signal operations.
• Techniques for improving pedestrian and bicycle circulation.
• Principles and practices of supervision, training, discipline, and performance evaluations.
• Principles and practices of budget monitoring.
• Principles and practices of safety management.

• Prepare accurate, clear, concise and grammatically correct reports and correspondence in a form understandable to the public.
• Effectively communicate traffic operations issues to the residents of the City.

• Work with signal operations including determination of optimum signal splits, offset and cycle lengths, preemption, controller functions and settings of typical signal communication equipment.

• Review, evaluate and prepare traffic engineering plans.
• Interpret and explain pertinent laws, rules, regulations and policies.

Experience: Two (2) years of responsible professional transportation engineering work similar to that of an Associate Transportation Engineer with the City of Hayward.

Education: Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Traffic/Transportation Engineering or a closely related field.

License: Registration as a Professional Civil or Traffic Engineer in the State of California.  An out-of-state P.E. or T.E. will be accepted, but will require the candidate to obtain a State of California registration within a one-year period of being hired.  Possession and maintenance of a valid Class C California Driver's License.

THE POSITION:

This is a division head management position at the Hayward Executive Airport, reporting to the Airport Manager. The incumbent is responsible for the management of the business and accounting functions at the airport and provides second-line supervision and direction of staff within the Airport Division. This position is distinguished from the Airport Operations Supervisor classification which is responsible for the direct supervision of staff performance of Airside and Landside operations and maintenance tasks at the airport. Under general direction, the Airport Business Supervisor, oversees the airport business function including budget preparation, the real property program, tenant compliance with contract provisions, collections, preparation of grant applications, and other administrative duties.

The Airport Business Supervisor is a key administrative position in the Airport division of Hayward Public Works Department. Licenses and Certificates:  Possession of either an FAA Private Pilot Certificate or standing as a Certified Member (CM) of the American Association of Airport Executives is desirable.

The City of Thousand Oaks is seeking a responsible and motivated Environmental Compliance Aide (Hourly City Worker) who will provide assistance for the following programs: Drinking Water Quality, Pretreatment (Industrial Waste), and Stormwater Quality.

The Environmental Compliance Aide will report to the Hill Canyon Treatment Plant (9600 Santa Rosa Rd, Camarillo, CA 93012) and conduct work in the field throughout the City of Thousand Oaks.

This is a part-time, hourly, at-will position that involves working approximately 15-25 hours per week between Monday – Thursday with flexible scheduling options.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Tracking, researching, and following regulations regarding drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater
• Field duties, such as assisting with:
  • Sampling/ performing routine tests of the City’s drinking water distribution system
  • Inspecting commercial businesses for stormwater compliance

The Public Works Department
The Public Works Department consists of Design Engineering, Development Engineering, Construction, Civic Facilities, Transportation, Survey, and Real Property sections. The department reviews all proposed land development projects in the City and executes the design and construction of public projects such as streets, parks, and public buildings.

Old Meadows Community Center - Therapeutic Recreation Unit- Serving youth, teens and young adults with physical and intellectual disabilities

Part-Time position: variable hours; evenings and weekends

Pay Rate: starting at $17.62 an hour

Summary:
Under general supervision, performs a variety of custodial tasks and provides oversight of rental groups, in accordance with District policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist patrons and prospective participants on the phone and in-person
• Assist permit groups with set-up and breakdown of tables, chairs, and other equipment
• Promptly open and unlock facilities or close and secure facilities as scheduled
• Complete facility condition forms following permit group use and incident reports as needed
• Notify management concerning need for major repairs or additions
• Turn athletic field lights off and on for sports groups
• Sell and scan admission tickets special events and/or theater performances

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

• Sweep floors, vacuum carpets, and dust or polish furniture, fixtures, and equipment
• Wash windows, clean restrooms, replenish supplies, and sanitize high touch areas often
• Empty waste receptacles and remove any trash or debris found throughout facility
• May assist with conducting recreation classes
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Minimum age of 18 years old with a High School Diploma (or GED). At least 250 hours of experience in customer service or a related field preferred.

The City of Berkeley invites applications for the position of Housing Inspector II (Certified)! In this role, you will perform skilled inspection work with City residential housing inspection programs. You will independently perform the full scope of work in the investigation, reporting and follow-up of housing deficiencies to gain compliance with housing, building, zoning, fire, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and related codes and regulations.

Assignments are varied and generally require close interaction with the public, providing information and interpretation of applicable ordinances, codes and regulations. We'll expect you to exercise considerable independence and discretion in conducting inspections, resolving complaints and enforcing inspection results.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is:

Equivalent to graduation from high school and at least two years of full-time experience equivalent to Housing Inspector or Building Inspector or Code Enforcement Inspector for a public agency. 

Must possess:

• An International Code Council (ICC) OR California (CA) certification in Residential Building or Housing Inspection or in Code Enforcement; and
• ICC or CA Residential or Commercial Electrical Inspector certification and ICC or CA Residential or Commercial Plumbing Inspector certification, or equivalent ICC or CA Legacy Certification for either Combination Inspector or Combination Dwelling Inspector.

Other requirements: Must be able to travel to various locations within and outside the City of Berkeley to meet the program needs and to fulfill the job responsibilities. When driving on City business, incumbent is required to maintain a valid California driver's license as well as a satisfactory driving record.

In addition to the qualifications above, the ideal candidate will have effective and courteous communication skills in order to discuss housing violations, violation remedy and necessary inspections and fees and participate in depositions and court hearings as requested. The Department

The mission of the Maintenance Operations Department is to enhance the community by providing high quality maintenance services through the maintenance of safe and effective transportation systems and public infrastructure that support a desirable quality of life for residents, businesses, and visitors, and to support the City organization with efficient and effective services for City buildings and fleet vehicles.

The Positions
The Building Maintenance Division of the Maintenance Operations Department is seeking experienced Building Maintenance Workers to provide HVAC maintenance support for all public facilities, such as City Hall, Historic Buildings, Fire Stations, Police Department, Recreation facilities, and Rental Housing. Building Maintenance Workers (HVAC) design, fabricate, inspect, install, troubleshoot and evaluate problems with HVAC equipment.  They also repair heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems and related apparatus. Additionally, they install, repair and/or replace controls for energy management system as well as perform preventive maintenance and sheet metal work, including design and fabrication.

The Building Maintenance Division of the Maintenance Operations Department is also seeking experienced Building Maintenance Workers to provide general maintenance support for all public facilities, such as City Hall, Historic Buildings, Fire Stations, Police Department, Recreation facilities, and Rental Housing. Maintenance tasks for the general assignment typically include painting, electrical repairs, wall repair, roof repair, carpentry/metal work, and floor repair.
