THE POSITION 

The City of South San Francisco seeks customer service-oriented individuals to join the Community Resource Team at the new Library | Parks and Recreation Center. This position is shared between the Library Department and Parks and Recreation Department and works under the direction of the Community Resource Analyst. The Community Resource Clerk will typically be stationed at the lobby desks on the first and second floors of the new Library | Parks and Recreation Center at 901 Civic Campus Way in South San Francisco, however, may temporarily be assigned to other sites, or to represent the departments at special events. This position will provide a welcoming presence by greeting members of the public and responding to visitor inquiries to assist with wayfinding in the facility and sharing information about activities in the building as well as city and other local community resources.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal Community Resource Clerk possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills and will be comfortable working in a diverse community setting, providing customer service to community members of various ages, ethnicities, and abilities.  Candidates with bilingual skills are strongly encouraged to apply. TYPICAL DUTIES:

• Assists in implementing the day-to-day operations at the Library | Parks and Recreation Center.
• Helps oversee use of the facility, ensuring appropriate security is maintained, policies and procedures are followed; appropriate equipment and materials are available, and building is operating efficiently.
• Registers participants in programs and assists patrons with Library or Parks and Recreation account inquiries.
• Performs typical service desk duties including but not limited to patron registration and account management, checking in/out materials, utilization of self-check equipment, assisting patrons with fines and fees, payments and placing reserves, and answering patron questions and requests.
• Maintain the posting of current promotional materials, such as flyers, brochures, guides, and other printed materials.
• Assists in coordinating the scheduling of classes, activities, meetings, events, and rentals in the facility.
• Assists patrons in using and locating library materials and equipment; explains library services, rules, and procedures.
• Works cooperatively with staff, parents, children, and other public and private sector employees and volunteers; coordinates with appropriate agencies to ensure that necessary services are provided to clients.
• Provides customer service in person, by telephone, and electronically.
• Performs general housekeeping duties related to the organization of materials and equipment in the common areas of the facility.
• Prepares for programs, including set up and take down; organization of required supplies.
• May be responsible for opening and/or closing the facility according to established procedures.
• Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be:

Experience: Minimum of 18 years of age. One year of paid or unpaid work experience involving customer service.

Training:  Equivalent to graduation from high school.

Licenses/Certificates: All licenses and certificates must be maintained as a condition of employment.

•  Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a current First-Aid and CPR certificate within the first 12 months from date of hire.

About The Position

What You Will Do

• Open, secure and close City facilities.
• Arrange chairs, tables and other equipment for events held at City facilities.
• Arrange audio system and room set-up for City Council, Planning Commission and Recreation Committee meetings.
• Monitor activities during the facility rentals and other facility usage including monitoring the time of access and departure of the group, monitoring set up and clean up quality provided by the group to ensure that department standards are met. Inspect facilities after usage ends. 
• Accept and file facility rental paperwork and drop in fees. 
• Provide customer service in person or by phone by orienting users, answering questions and resolving problems.
• Enforce department rules including facility rental policies.
• Communicate with the community in both English and Spanish (preferred).
• Work evenings and weekends as needed. 
• Perform related duties as assigned.

What You Bring

Sufficient education and experience to satisfactorily perform the duties of this classification. Knowing that any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. Such as:

Building Attendant I: Possession of a High School Diploma, or equivalent, and no experience working in a recreation setting.  Experience working in a recreation setting can substitute for the diploma or equivalent.

Building Attendant II: Possession of a High School Diploma, or equivalent; and two (2) year’s paid or unpaid work experience, or two (2) years of experience equivalent to the level of Building Attendant I.

Building Attendant III:  Possession of a High School Diploma, or equivalent; and four (4) year’s paid or unpaid work experience, or four (4) years of recreation leadership experience equivalent to the level of Building Attendant I.

Knowledge of:

• Basic mathematical functions.
• Equipment, facilities, operations and techniques used in a comprehensive community recreation program.

This position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting and stooping in the performance of daily activities.  The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement and fine coordination in preparing statistical reports and data using a computer keyboard.  Additionally, the position requires near vision in reading correspondence, statistical data and using a computer, and acute hearing is required when providing phone service and communicating in person.

The City of Redwood City invites you to apply for the position of Payroll Supervisor -Confidential.  Under general direction of the Financial Services Manager the Payroll Supervisor, plans, organizes, supervises, trains and evaluates the work and activities of assigned staff engaged in payroll operations ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant processing of employee compensation. Primary duties include providing expert level strategic leadership in planning, preparing, processing, and maintaining the City’s payroll and related records and reports, and partnering with Human Resources to recommend and implement payroll policies and procedures to meet City responsibilities with respect to labor agreements, labor laws, payroll tax administration and system updates.

A few typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Coordinates, oversees, and participates in the full spectrum of payroll activities; ensures timely and accurate posting of payroll to the financial accounting system; ensures accurate deduction and remittance of garnishments, child support, IRS levies and court orders as administered by vendors or internal staff; and ensures accurate reporting of changes in pay, payroll status, taxes, benefits, deductions, and retroactive pay adjustments.

THE DEPARTMENT
The Burlingame Police Department is a municipal, full service, community oriented department.  We offer a variety of investigative, preventative, and community policing programs to both protect and serve a community that spans five square miles and is home to more than 28,000 residents.

The Burlingame Police Department is divided into two divisions: Operations and Administration.  The force currently consists of 40 police officers, made up of the Chief of Police, 1 Captain, 2 Lieutenants, 6 Sergeants, 6 Corporals, 2 Inspectors, and 22 Patrol Officers.

We are active in county-wide law enforcement efforts by participating in the San Mateo County Gang Task Force, Avoid the 23 (DUI) Task Force, Narcotic Task Force Details, Alcohol Beverage Control Operations, Office of Traffic Safety grants and as Police Academy Training Officers.

POSITION
Burlingame Police Officers are responsible for preventing crime, arresting law violators, directing traffic, etc.  In that capacity, officers may also serve in special assignments such as K-9, detective, SWAT, hostage teams, FTO, and motorcycle patrol.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

• Patrol various areas within the City by driving a police vehicle or by walking to prevent criminal activity, to enforce various laws, regulations, and codes.
• Respond to radio dispatched calls and reports to crime scenes or locations of disorder to protect life and property.
• Conduct investigations, gathers information and writes factual reports involving criminal activity, traffic accidents, suspicious activity, or other unusual incidents.
• Make arrests as necessary and writes report of all arrests made and activities performed.
• Interview and interrogate suspicious persons, suspects, and prisoners.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Candidates must be a US Citizen, at least 21 years of age on date of appointment, a US high school graduate (or GED equivalent), have no felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history.  Must be able to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions, read, comprehend, write, and speak English effectively.

Entry Level - Proof of completing the POST Written Test and Physical Agility Test with a passing score.

Lateral Police Officer - To be considered for a lateral Police Officer appointment, candidates must have prior experience as a sworn law enforcement officer within the past twelve (12) months, including the completion of the field training program and probation period with a law enforcement agency.

SELECTION PROCESS:

The City of Menlo Park is seeking engineering professionals, with exceptional technical and project management skills, for Senior Civil Engineer positions in the Public Works Department (Department) Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Division. The Position:

The Combination Inspector is responsible for performing the building, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical inspections.  Each Inspector may be assigned to one or more of the following Programs or specialties: Code Enforcement, Building, Electrical, Permit Center, and Plumbing & Mechanical.

The annual salary range for this position is $125,115.24 - $159,613.32 annually. This position may be filled at or near the minimum of the salary range.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum Education Requirements:

Graduation from high school or possession of a G.E.D.

Minimum Experience Requirements:

Five (5) years of experience as a journey person in the building construction or related trades

OR

Three (3) years of experience as a Combination Inspector in a city or county inspection jurisdiction

OR

Possession of a State of California license as a general (B-l) or electrical (C-10) or plumbing (C-36) or heating, ventilating, air conditioning (C-20) contractor for a minimum of two (2) years

Acceptable Substitution:

None

License/Certifications:

Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license is required. 

Certification by the International Code Council or other recognized agency, as a Building, Electrical, Plumbing, or Mechanical Inspector is required within one (1) year of appointment and for continued employment in this class

Desirable Qualifications:

Certified Access Specialist (CASp) certification is desirable

Other Requirements: 

• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job assignment

Department

The Santa Clara City Library is a department of the City and has positioned itself as a dynamic community hub, providing access to information, literacy resources, educational programming, and promotes civic engagement in Santa Clara. The Library Department is organized into several divisions: Administration, Adult Services, Branch Services, Customer Services, Facilities, Read Santa Clara, Technical and Technology Services and Youth Services. Santa Clara City Library is in the process of finalizing and implementing its new Strategic Plan that will support the direction of future library services. 

Position

Read Santa Clara, the adult and family literacy program of the Santa Clara City Library, has offered English as a Second Language (ESL) services since 2023, as part of a state grant project. The ESL Program Assistant provides 1:1 and small group tutoring for limited English-speaking adults to strengthen their basic English speaking and listening skills and help achieve their goals. This position works with and reports to the ESL Program Specialist and Literacy Program Supervisor. This position is responsible for supporting literacy volunteers, assessing adult learners’ literacy needs, and documenting program data for grant reporting.  The ideal candidate has a passion for serving adults with limited English language skills from historically underserved communities.

This is a grant funded position for 15 hours a week till June 30, 2026. The position’s continuation beyond this date is subject to the availability of grant funds.

As an as-needed employee, this is an "at-will" position and there is no guarantee of hours. Hours are limited to 999 in a fiscal year or 960 hours in a fiscal year for retired CalPERS annuitants.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

• Assist with assessing the language skills of adults with limited English-speaking skills and who do not speak English as a first language
• Tutor 1:1 and small groups at the library and at various community outreach sites
• Offer support to learners in meeting their goals
• Assist in recruiting, training and supporting volunteers to support small groups in the library and at community sites
• Be culturally sensitive and responsive to the needs of learners from diverse cultural, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds
• Work at school sites to help parents/caregivers during school hours
• Work closely with the ESL Program Specialist and community partners to meet community needs
• Assist with collecting and maintaining accurate data in a timely manner for grant reporting
