The City of San Mateo Public Works Department is looking for a Maintenance Worker I-II

The Public Works Department is comprised of the Engineering and Facilities Services Division (EFSD) and the Environmental Services Division (ESD). Each division is led by a Deputy Director reporting to the Director of Public Works. The department is responsible for the City’s major capital projects and infrastructure including streets, street lights, traffic signals, sewer and storm conveyance systems, wastewater treatment plant, pump stations, a major lagoon, and dams and levees. A key player on this team is the Maintenance Worker. You would be joining over 500 people whose mission is to serve the San Mateo community with a collaborative, innovative and professional spirit.

What You'll Do

The Maintenance Worker position may be filled at either the I or II level based on experience. The Maintenance Worker will perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the construction, maintenance, and repair of streets, sidewalks, signs, sewers, storm drains, pump stations, traffic signal and street light equipment, traffic systems, or municipal buildings; and to do related work as required. Some of the duties of this position are as follows:

• Operate construction and maintenance equipment such as backhoes, motorgraders, boom trucks, tractors, vac-all and small sweepers, and skip loaders for a variety of construction and maintenance operations involving streets, sidewalks and gutters, sewer lines, and drainage channels.
• Use concrete cutting and braking equipment; operate a jackhammer; pour and finish concrete; construct concrete forms and perform rough carpentry work.
• Operate maintenance equipment and tools such as trucks, power tools, sewer rodder, hydraulic jet cleaner, vac-all, front loader, backhoe, compressor, sandblaster, power wench, boom truck, cc TV unit, main and auxiliary pumps, pneumatic and electro-mechanical controls, diesel power plants, and related equipment and tools.
• Assist pump mechanics to install, repair and modify pump station machinery and control.
• Paint traffic markings on streets, crosswalks, parking lots, and curbs; operate a striping truck.
• Assist in performing a variety of routine electrical maintenance and repair tasks.
• Assist in trash and debris control activities such as picking up of litter and other street maintenance activities as required or when weather does not permit sweeping operations.
• Fully utilize the computerized work systems in accordance with work flow processes.
• Work cooperatively and effectively with co-workers.

Salary (depending on experience) and Hours:

Lifeguard / Swim Instructor I $20.70 - $25.17

Lifeguard / Swim Instructor II $21.79 - 26.48

This is a part-time position.  Hours will range from 25 to 38 hours per week with no weekend shifts. Typical shifts are from Monday - Thursday 9:30AM-5:15PM and Fridays 9:30AM-3:15PM.

• Must be available for paid training Wednesday, June 17 – Friday, June 19, 2026.

• New Hires must be available for all 6 weeks of the summer aquatics season from June 22 – July 31, 2026. Returners must be available for majority of the summer.

• Pool closed Friday, July 3, 2026 for the Holiday.

Lifeguard Certification

Must hold or obtain ARC Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED and First Aid Certificates by June 1st, 2026. With proof of payment, the City will reimburse you for the cost of the lifeguard certification training at the end of the aquatics season if certification is obtained between August 2025 and June 2026.

What You Will Do

Lifeguards/Swim Instructors will ensure the safety of facility patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies and instructing swim lessons for participants of all ages.

The essential functions of this position include: maintain constant surveillance of patrons in the facility; act immediately and appropriately to ensure the safety of patrons in the event of an emergency; provide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services; perform various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility; prepare and maintain appropriate reports; possess thorough knowledge of rescue techniques; understand and enforcement of facility rules, policies and procedures, demonstrate leadership, public relations skills and decision-making skills.

In addition, Swim Instructors are responsible for instructing all swim lesson participants, ensuring the safety of all participants in their class, evaluating students participating in swim lessons, submitting completed participant report cards on time, and attending mandatory meetings and training sessions as scheduled.

The individual must be able to represent the City of Belmont in a professional manner and follow the City’s polices and regulations.

The City of Belmont is seeking a Senior Lifeguard/Pool Manager to supervise the Summer Aquatics Program at the Carlmont Aquatics Facility located at 1400 Alameda de las Pulgas, Belmont, CA 94002

What You Will Do

• Supervise and ensure patron safety at all times, including clearly and professionally conveying rules to patrons and enforcing facility regulations.

• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions and with exposure to pool chemicals.

• Conduct proper opening and closing procedures of the aquatic facility.

• Assist in staff trainings and meetings.

• Analyze program needs and recommend new and innovative program ideas.

• Set up proper furniture arrangements, equipment, and facility maintenance.

• Work as a Lead with Lifeguards and Swim Instructors and offer assistance in maintaining the proper execution of all aspects of facility programs, including feedback.

• Ensure all policies of the City of Belmont are followed during all programs, special events and facility use.

• Provide excellent customer service and problem solving.

• Perform functions of registration software applications.

• Prepare daily deposits and reconcile daily reports.

The City of Menlo Park is recruiting for the exciting and challenging position of Management Analyst I/II. As a member of the Administrative Services team, the incumbent will serve as an experienced accounting and financial analyst for the City, with primary responsibility for maintaining, reconciling, and analyzing the City’s general ledger and related financial records. This position will provide financial analysis and reporting support while ensuring compliance with applicable governmental accounting standards and internal control requirements. The incumbent will collaborate closely with other finance functions, including but not limited to payroll and accounts payable.

Additionally, the incumbent will assist with annual, interim, single, and other required audits and will support the development and production of the annual budget, forecasts, and other related financial documents.

Examples of essential job functions:

• Develops, implements, and manages accounting- and finance-related projects and initiatives in support of departmental operations; monitors outcomes and recommends improvements to financial systems, processes, and internal controls.
• Performs professional-level governmental accounting, financial analysis, research, and reporting in support of the City’s general ledger, audits, budget development, and financial planning activities.
• Prepares and contributes to administrative, management, regulatory, and financial reports, including audit schedules, budget documents, and other required financial disclosures.
• Conducts financial and operational analyses by applying appropriate accounting, analytical, and research techniques; evaluates alternatives; develops and supports recommendations; and assists with the implementation of approved changes to accounting procedures, reporting methods, and financial processes.
• Maintains comprehensive financial documentation and workpapers, identifies options for improvement, and provides well-supported recommendations to management.

Requires knowledge of:

• Principles and practices of governmental accounting, including general ledger maintenance, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance with applicable accounting standards.
• Administrative and organizational practices related to the analysis, evaluation, development, and implementation of financial policies, procedures, and systems.
• Principles and techniques of financial and analytical research, including evaluating alternatives, formulating sound recommendations, and preparing clear, accurate, and technical financial reports.

Launched in July 2025, the Office of Labor Standards and Enforcement (OLSE) promotes fair labor practices throughout San Mateo County. OLSE’s core functions include conducting outreach and education to workers and employers within San Mateo County about their rights and obligations in the workplace and enforcing labor standards that protect San Mateo County workers through coordinated investigations and efforts to secure compliance.

THE POSITION

Reporting to the Labor Standards Manager, the Outreach and Enforcement Associate will lead OLSE’s community outreach and engagement work, support civil investigations and enforcement actions, and manage projects to support OLSE’s implementation. Spanish fluency is required for this position. 

The Outreach and Enforcement Associate’s key responsibilities will include:

• Outreach and Community Engagement:
  • Plan and implement culturally and linguistically appropriate labor standards outreach campaigns targeting low-wage workers and their employers, prioritizing outreach consistent with geographic and industry priorities, with buy-in from key stakeholders. 
  • Execute a wide range of outreach activities, including mass mailings, door-to-door canvassing, flyering, tabling, presentations, workshops, and events.
  • Deliver presentations to and facilitate discussions with low-wage workers and small businesses, providing clarity on workplace rights and resources available to support labor compliance.
  • Develop and maintain educational materials that present information responsive to community need in an accurate, accessible, and engaging manner.
  • Build partnerships and cooperative working relationships with County departments and various community, public, and regulatory organizations.

• Enforcement Support and Intake Coordination:
  • Receive and respond to complaints, inquiries, and requests for support from workers, employers, and members of the public, implementing OLSE’s intake procedures and best practices for ensuring all stakeholders who contact OLSE receive clear, helpful, in-language, and timely information and complaints are investigated promptly.
  • Conduct initial interviews with workers seeking OLSE assistance by phone and in-person; identify worker priorities and make recommendations for appropriate next steps.
  • As assigned, and under supervision, conduct investigations of potential violations of laws within OLSE’s jurisdiction, including interviewing workers, engaging with employers, calculating damages, and drafting investigation reports.

• Project Management:
  • Support the development and implementation of OLSE workflows and processes, including the implementation of a case management database.
  • Coordinate contract solicitations and assist with the maintenance and monitoring of OLSE contracts.
  • Prepare reports on OLSE activities and outcomes.

Additional duties include but are not limited to:

• Assist in developing goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and work standards. 
• Analyze programmatic practices and procedures and make recommendations for organizational, operational, policy, and procedural improvements.

• Ensure compliance with Federal, State, County, and funding agency regulatory and reporting requirements and applicable laws, regulations, and professional practices.
• Prepare and submit Board of Supervisor agenda reports and various other commission, committee, and staff reports, resolutions, ordinances, and correspondence regarding assigned activities.
• Attend meetings, conferences, workshops, and training sessions and review publications and related materials to become and remain current on principles, practices, and new developments in labor standards, labor laws, and enforcement.
• Communicate orally, in writing, or through graphic representations and statistical summaries with colleagues, managers, employees, the public, organized employee groups, and representatives of various organizations.
• Participate, as requested, in selecting, training, motivating, and evaluating assigned staff and interns; direct the work activities of assigned staff; prioritize and coordinate work assignments; provide or coordinate staff training; review work for accuracy; and work with employees to correct deficiencies.

About the Position

The San Carlos Recreation Department is looking for seasonal summer Recreation Leaders who are responsible, energetic, and enjoy working outdoors with children in a fun and positive atmosphere.

Recreation Leader positions are fun!  The City works with applicant’s interests and strengths to place them in the appropriate Recreation Leader opening.

The Recreation Leader I classification is the entry-level position in the Recreation Leader Series. The Recreation Leader II classification is the second-level position in the Recreation Leader Series. Positions in this part-time classification perform routine, basic work under direct supervision, in the planning and conducting of a wide variety of recreation activities. Receives supervision from a Recreation Department staff member; may work under functional supervision of a Recreation Leader II or Program Coordinator as assigned.

Work schedule: Seasonal Recreation Leaders are assigned to the Summer Day Camp and Youth Center programs working with children ages 4 -12 years. This summer’s camp program runs from June 15 - August 14, 2026. Training for Recreation Leader I & II will take place the week of June 8, 2026 (mandatory in-service training). Recreation Leaders must be able to work during this time period for at least 8 of the 10 weeks and have the ability to plan and conduct exciting youth recreation activities.

Positions in this seasonal classification perform routine, basic work under direct supervision, in the planning and conducting of a wide variety of recreation activities. Positions require a commitment of 40 hours per week, typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Shifts may vary based on camp needs.

Essential Duties

As a Recreation Leader for San Carlos Parks and Recreation you will:

• Be a part of a motivated, enthusiastic, and responsible team focused on making a difference in the community.

• Assist in Community Events including, Hometown Days, Music in the Park, Art and Wine Faire, and Movie Nights.

• Ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for youth participants.
• Supervision and facilitation of Youth Center special events and participants.
• Site maintenance duties and inspection of recreational equipment.

We are offering two types of Summer Camps, Adventure Camp for children ages 4 to 12, and Sports Camps (Flag Football, Volleyball, Softball, Baseball, and Multi-Sport) for ages 5-12.
