Program Assistant - Receptionist

Salary Range: $18.52 - $30.68/hour, depending on experience.

DEFINITION

Perform a wide variety of general clerical and/ or operational support duties at the Danville Community Center and/ or Senior Center. Incumbent serves as the facility receptionist, assisting with customer service-related questions and issues, and directing callers and visitors according to established procedures.
 

• This is a part-time temporary, non-benefitted position.
• 0-20 hours per week; not-to-exceed 950 hours per calendar year.

SUPERVISION

Direct supervision is received from the Administrative Assistant with indirect supervision from the Recreation Superintendent. May exercise supervision of part-time personnel and volunteers as assigned.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Essential duties are inclusive of, but not limited to the following:

• Serve as first point of contact with the public; responds to information requests regarding services, classes, and events offered by the Town by email, in person or over the phone.
• Perform a wide variety of routine office duties to support department operations including filing, preparing basic reports, and program registration.
• Register participants, and support facility reservations using Active Net software.
• Performs cash handling duties, process payments, and issue receipts. 
• Assist in proofreading the Activity Guide and other marketing materials.
• Communicate with a variety of department staff to resolve customer inquiries.
• Provide support on special projects, and perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must be able to handle multiple tasks, have strong computer skills and excellent customer service skills. Must be able to work a flexible schedule throughout the year.

Knowledge of:

• Correct English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation.
• Modern office methods, procedures and equipment, including office automation hardware and software.
• File management.
• Word processing (Microsoft Word) and data processing systems, including Microsoft Outlook.

Ability to:

• Respond to and effectively prioritize multiple phone calls and requests for service.
• Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Use English effectively to communicate in person, over the telephone, or in writing.
• Have attention to detail and accuracy.
• Maintain a welcoming environment in a busy office.
• Complete tasks in a timely fashion.
• Establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Experience:

One (1) year of experience performing standard clerical and secretarial duties. Prior experience as a receptionist in a related field preferred.

Education:

The equivalent of the successful completion of the twelfth grade; some college experience preferred.

Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator I

($22.13– 28.33 per hour)

The City of Chowchilla is seeking a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator I for the operation and maintenance of the City’s Wastewater Treatment Plant. The Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator I is a journey-level class in the Wastewater Treatment Plant series, which normally works under general supervision, performing a group of related duties according to established procedures.  This position reports to the Utility Systems or Wastewater System Supervisor and does not supervise.

The City of San José Information Technology Department seeks an experienced City Information Security Officer (CISO) to lead cybersecurity Citywide initiatives.
 
The CISO will direct the Cybersecurity Office as the City’s principal executive leader for information and systems security. In partnership with the Chief Information Officer (CIO), they will manage risk identification, protection and compliance, threat detection, incident response (IR), and recovery services for all City departments to ensure business resilience.
 
The City’s CISO must be able to apply expertise in security strategy, cybersecurity frameworks, managing staff and vendor services, leading incident management, and optimizing resources to achieve desired security outcomes.
 
Key responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Lead and mentor the Cybersecurity team, offering expertise and support to foster growth and a collaborative environment. 
• Collaborate with business units and solution providers to provide optimal security measures and achieve a balance between sustaining business operations and achieving security compliance.
• Coordinate with stakeholders within the City and partners/vendors outside of the City to ensure information and systems meet the City’s standards for threat identification, protection, and risk detection.
• Develop, operationalize, and enhance the City’s cybersecurity strategic plan, programs, policies, and architecture, including vulnerability, risk, and threat management programs through remediation.
• Conduct training programs to educate City personnel on relevant security best practices, foster diligence, and ensure compliance.
• Provide expert security guidance to City departments and officials in service planning, procurements, contract negotiations, vendor management, and project management.
• Provide expert guidance on regulations and standards (FISMA, FedRAMP, CJIS, PCI-DSS, HIPAA, etc.) the City must meet in providing municipal services, as well as security frameworks (NIST, ISO, IEEE, etc.) to shape City operations.
• Oversee and lead incident management/response processes in coordination with City departments to respond and recover from incidents.
• Resolve security-related audits in partnership with City staff.
• Ensure comprehensive security strategies align with resilience plans and emergency management exercises.
• Oversee vendor relationships and manage the City’s procurement and utilization of cybersecurity products and services across departments.
• Lead the annual Cybersecurity Assessment of the City’s technology infrastructure.
• Provide strategic and operational leadership to address cybersecurity in the City’s emerging Internet-of-Things, smart communities, privacy, and equity through data initiatives. 
• Collaborate with the Digital Privacy Officer to address privacy challenges emerging from new technologies, including AI. 
• Implement governance policies to ensure responsible AI usage across the organization, aligning with ethical standards and risk management protocols. 
• Support the GovAI Coalition’s initiatives to promote responsible and safe use of AI in government.

The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Assistant Civil Engineer! In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on capital improvement projects in the Parks, Recreation & Waterfront Department or the Public Works Department. You will perform professional office and field civil engineering work related to the planning, design, construction and maintenance of these projects. This position requires a California PE license.

The Parks, Recreation & Waterfront Department maintains more than 50 parks and operates the largest public marina on the Bay. Engineers in this department work on projects at parks, community centers, recreation centers, the waterfront, pools, camps, and related facilities and infrastructure.

The Public Works Department supports the City’s extensive network of public infrastructure. Engineers in this department work on projects across the city that advance City initiatives such as the Climate Action Plan, Pedestrian Plan, and Vision Zero. Program areas within Public Works include Facilities, Sanitary Sewers, Sidewalks, Streets, and Storm Drains.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is:
Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in civil engineering and two (2) years of professional civil engineering experience in design and construction work at a level equivalent to the City of Berkeley Junior Public Works Engineer classification.

Other requirements include:

• Possession of a California State Certification of Registration as a Professional Engineer
• Possession of a valid California driver's license with a satisfactory driving record

There is one (1) full-time, regular hire Senior Civil Engineer vacancy in the Engineering Division. 

Under direction, the Senior Civil Engineer, plans, manages, and coordinates the engineering program. Using broad parameters of departmental policy guidelines, this position exercises substantial initiative, judgment, and expertise to meet program and project outcomes. The Senior Civil Engineer creates the scope on large civil engineering projects with complex budgets and timelines, integrating numerous elements that significant stakeholder involvement and sensitivity. This position provides direction and mentorship to more junior staff and oversees both technical and administrative work performed by their staff and ensures that projects are completed efficiently and effectively for the public good. Informing the public and Board of Supervisors, selecting consultants, preparing contract documents, reviewing project plans and specifications prepared by consultants, and administering contracts during construction are performed by the Senior Civil Engineer. 

Signing bonus:
In addition to a competitive compensations package, new, full-time, regular hire Senior Civil Engineers are eligible to receive a $10,000 signing bonus which will be split into two equal payments: 50% at time of hire (i.e. first paycheck) and the remaining 50% after successful completion of their probationary period.

Hybrid schedule:
The Department of Public Works has embraced a hybrid work schedule that considers that some duties of this position may be performed remotely. However, the successful candidate must be able to report to County facilities for meetings, work assignments, and/or disaster service work upon short notice, as needed and deemed appropriate. Position Summary

Under general direction of the Secretary of the District, performs complex and highly analytical work for the Secretary of the District, members of the Board of Directors and associated committees.   Departmental lead on government tort claims, legal documents and communications and participating in complex, sensitive, and detailed analytical work in the areas of budgets, historical preservation and economic, regulatory and administrative policy. Provides internal customer service by assisting managers and executive level staff in complex analysis.  This position requires a high degree of accuracy, discretion, confidentiality, excellent communication skills, and robust customer service skills. 
 

Essential Responsibilities

• Serves as the primary analytical support to the District Secretary;
• Interprets meeting proceedings and prepares draft meeting minutes, with minimal oversight and as assigned, may attend meetings in the absence of the District Secretary;
• Performs legal functions of the office and guidance to office staff in the absence of the District Secretary;
• Performs a wide variety of complex legal analysis, research and briefings about claims for the District, Bridge, Bus and Ferry Divisions, and works with legal counsel in the areas such as government tort claims, subpoenas, Brady requests, small claims and lawsuits;
• Provides a wide variety of complex, confidential analytical duties in support of the District Secretary, Board of Directors, and standing Board committees;
• Independently composes, researches, compiles, summarizes, and prepares a variety of complex correspondence, reports and documents; reviews finished materials for completeness and accuracy; ensures documents comply with District standards, policies and procedures;
• Perform special studies for the District, and coordinates assigned activities with other District departments, and divisions, and outside entities;
• Independently responds to and resolves difficult and sensitive citizen inquiries and complaints;
• Coordinates and assists in the development of the annual budgets of the Board and District Secretary’s Office and monitors, reviews and approves department expenditures, and performs financial analysis for budgetary purposes;
• Assists the District Secretary with providing direct support in varied, analytical administrative projects related to the Board and its committees;
• Independently prepares and presents a variety of oral and written reports, correspondence, and statistical analyses with extreme attention to detail and accuracy;
• Works with Procurement to select vendors and purchase department services as needed for projects, and participates on panels for various District procurements especially those related to the District’s third party administrators for public liability and workers compensation, insurance advisors and e-document conversion;
• Has an in-depth understanding of the department’s functions and especially its role with the Board of Directors such as the steps involved in planning and executing Board events and maintaining key Board documents such as Rules of the Board, Master Ordinance and record of the Board’s proceedings;
• Autonomously draft client correspondence and legal documents, using proper format and appropriate language and content;
• Oversees newspaper advertisements for public hearings/meetings;
• Monitors activities and ensures maintenance of files related to insurance and accident claim matters to fulfill department records retention schedule;
• Engages with a wide variety of District representatives including the Board of Directors, Executive Team, mid-managers and staff in a wide variety of roles including those engaged in specialized trades;
• Performs additional related duties as assigned; and
• Regular and reliable performance and attendance is required.

DEFINITION: Under general supervision, assists instructor in swim classes, enforces all rules and regulations pertaining to the safety and well-being of visitors and patrons. Perform related work as required. NOTE: This program provides on the job training to prepare a swim aide to become a Swim Instructor. This entry-level aquatics position is designed to give valuable training and orientation to the American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Program, and the Mill Valley Aquatics Program for Individuals who desire to work in aquatics but don’t have required experience. Minimum age required to apply, 14 years old. 

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

• Assist Swim Instructor to provide all levels of swimming to all age groups.
• Follow the Instructors’ guidelines and directions working with the group or an individual as needed.
• Maintain certain class records and reports as required.
• Prepare instructional equipment, and clean up after classes.
• Provide basic locker room checks and regular restroom and facility light cleaning.

TRAINING & EXPERIENCE: No experience required. CPR certification strongly desired.

The Agency has an opening for a part-time (hourly intermittent) Accounting Technician on the Finance team. This position serves under the direction of the Financial Services Manager or designee and provides assistance with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities as well as various other functions related to financial operations.
