The Public Works Department’s Environmental Services Division (ESD) is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the City’s 15.7 million gallon per day (MGD) conventional activated sludge wastewater treatment plant (WWTP). The WWTP serves a population of more than 140,000 with an annual operating budget in excess of $15 million and has a staff of 28 professional and technical personnel. The Position

• Install, maintain, repair and research a variety of supervisory controls and replacement electrical components that are part of advanced wastewater treatment processes such as aeration, filtration, disinfection and dichlorination, sludge dewatering, odor control, and an environmental laboratory.
• Perform wiring required for the installation of electronic equipment; electrical conductors in conduits; splice high and low voltage cables utilizing hand taping and pre- molded splice kits.
• Design, install, maintain, repair, test and construct electrical assemblies.
• Troubleshoot plant electrical systems, controls and related process equipment. Provide technical support for other work groups within Public Works.
• Specify, install, program, and repair various types of variable frequency motor drive systems.
• Fabricate, maintain, install, service, and calculate power load distributions to various motors and related equipment.
• Install and repair programmable logic controllers and install related hardware and software for control systems in conjunction with controls technician.
• Maintain and repair automatic control valves and associated control functions.
• Implement preventive maintenance and repair on motors from fractional to over 400 horsepower. Record and calculate current requirements for new electrical installations.
• Troubleshoot, perform inspections, preventive maintenance and repairs on industrial switchgear and high voltage equipment such as transformers, breakers, circuits, switches, relays, regulators and distribution panels.
• Specify, install, and inspect various types of conduit; isolate breakers and switches for major repairs; coordinate repairs and scheduled outages with operations staff.
• Conduct surveys to gather field data.
• Use aerial lifts, scaffolding and ladders.
• Prepare requisitions and associated documents for purchase of repair parts and supplies.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and associated costs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The WWTP Electrical Technician receives general supervision from the WWTP Maintenance Superintendent or higher level personnel and exercises technical and functional supervision over assigned technical and maintenance personnel.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Gilroy is seeking a college level Youth Task Force (YTF) Summer College Intern to work in the Gilroy Police Department Violence Prevention Unit. This is a unique opportunity to gain real-world experience, develop leadership skills and work alongside dedicated professionals who are committed to community safety and engagement. The Intern will participate and work with an experienced team and gain skills and knowledge in planning, organizing, and coordinating various youth and community projects, programs, events and tasks related to violence and gang prevention efforts. 

In this exciting opportunity, the YTF Intern will work under the direction of the Youth Task Force Coordinator, and will help carry out community events, participate in community organizing, community forums, community surveying, support engagement projects, and will help lead recreational and outreach programs at San Ysidro Park. The Department

The Parks and Recreation Department mission is to provide opportunities for physical, cultural and social well-being; protect and enhance the physical environment; and ensure the effective and efficient use of public facilities and open space. The Parks and Recreation Department is organized by program area, with each program administered by a supervisor, coordinator, or specialist. 

The Building Maintenance Division’s scope of duties includes, but is not limited to the following:

• Provides janitorial, preventative maintenance services, and necessary building and related equipment repairs to all of the City’s facilities, including interior and exterior work.
• Builds and/or installs items involving finish carpentry, painting, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and other skilled crafts work.
• Manages contracts with vendors maintaining, repairing and upgrading building systems.

THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City is looking for a dynamic, energetic, team-oriented full-time (38-hours per week) Librarian, to coordinate the library’s outreach and deliver innovative programs and services for children and families throughout the community. ABOUT THE POSITION

The Gilroy Police Department is seeking a motivated and community-minded undergraduate Police Administration Intern interested in gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic law enforcement environment. This internship offers the opportunity to work alongside sworn officers and professional staff while supporting public safety initiatives that benefit the Gilroy community.

Position Duties

The salary range for the Senior Power Resources Specialist Classification is:
$147,005.04 - $180,070.80 Annually
This salary range includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates’ qualifications and experience.

The Energy Department is seeking to fill one (1) full-time Senior Regulatory Compliance & Policy Manager (Senior Power Resources Specialist) position for the Regulatory Compliance & Policy Division. This position reports directly to the Deputy Director of the Regulatory Compliance & Policy Division and will provide technical analysis, assess the potential business impacts to SJCE from proposed regulatory changes, and provide expert public representation.

Under general direction of the Deputy Director, the Senior Regulatory Compliance & Policy Manager will be responsible for engaging in the increasing number of complex electric regulatory proceedings and effectively advocating for the business interests of SJCE at the  California Public Utilities Commission (“CPUC”), the California Energy Commission (CEC), and California Independent System Operator (“CAISO”) to protect and advance San José business and community interests. Typical duties of this position may include, but are not limited to:

• Monitoring and advising internal staff about the progress of regulatory policy and rate-related proceedings
• Performing independent analysis of the possible operational impacts of rate cases and regulatory proceedings
• Representing SJCE before regulatory bodies and on external working groups
• Keeping abreast of key regulatory issues affecting CCAs, and assisting in prioritizing proceedings
• Developing formal written comments to regulatory agencies and advising on advocacy strategy
• Working with other internal teams to share and learn relevant information
• Other duties as assigned     

Minimum Qualifications

Education 
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Economics, Engineering, Environmental Studies, Law, Natural Resources, Statistics, or related field to utility business.

Experience

Three (3) years of experience in energy resources operations, planning, purchasing, scheduling, or contract negotiations.

Possession of a valid State of California driver’s license is required.
