Excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic theatre complex at the Bank of America Performing Arts Center.  The City is currently accepting applications for several part-time, hourly Staff Ambassador (Usher) positions in the Cultural and Community Services Department.

Primary responsibilities:

• Assist with locating seats, ticket-taking and patron relations
• Provide clear, pleasant, and courteous communication to patrons, promoters, and co-workers
• Resolve patron complaints
• Assist school children in loading/unloading in/out of buses and theatre complex
• May assist in the training of volunteer usher staff

ABOUT THE POSITION
The City of Gilroy is hiring two part-time Recreation Specialist positions, each with a distinct focus. One position will support Youth, Adaptive, and Senior programs, while the other will focus specifically on serving the East Gilroy neighborhood with various recreation programs. Both roles will involve leading programs for socio-economically disadvantaged youth, teens, and adults, managing part-time staff, program planning, administering grants, and collaborating with local organizations and public agencies.
 
Under general supervision of a Recreation Manager, Recreation Supervisor, or Recreation Coordinator, the Recreation Specialist will plan, organize, and direct the physical, recreational, and social activities of assigned recreation programs. Program areas include but are not limited to: Adaptive (special needs), Adult and/or Youth Sports such as organized leagues or classes, After School Program, Cultural Arts, Facility Attendant, Senior Center, Special Events, Summer Camps, Theater, and Youth Center/Youth Services. This is an entry-level, paraprofessional position supporting the Recreation Division.

The Department

The Community Services Department strives to improve the health, wellness and quality of life for Fremont residents by offering a wide variety of exceptional educational and recreational programs and services, historic and cultural resources, facilities, unique attractions, special events, park use and urban forestry.

The Position

The Senior Landscape Architect will plan, supervise, and review the work of City Landscape Architect staff. The incumbent will: coordinate and oversee various landscape projects; perform professional landscape architect work in conjunction with the design and preparation of plans, specifications and cost estimates for the development and rehabilitation of parks, landscaped areas and street beautification projects; inspect and review the work of developers and consultants for conformance with plans, specifications, and City requirements; prepare and administer grants and give professional advice on landscape matters.

Examples of Job Duties

• Organize and oversee the landscape design and layout of parks, recreational areas, roadway medians and pedestrian ways.
• Plan, supervise, review, and evaluate the work of professional City and contract staff.
• Perform professional landscape architectural work including preparing landscape plans, coordinating master plan development, performing park planning, and preparing related specifications, contracts, and cost estimates.
• Recommend design direction on high-profile urban design of public and private projects that impact landscape design and urban projects within the City.

The Position

One position will be filled as either an Associate Landscape Architect or a lower level Landscape Architect/Designer II, depending upon qualifications and fit. Both positions will perform professional-level landscape architectural work related to the design, construction, and rehabilitation of landscape and irrigation for parks, landscaped areas, and street and urban design projects. In addition, the Associate level incumbent will serve as project manager, team leader and/or supervisor, and consultant manager for site development of city facilities and private developments.

Examples of Job Duties

• Using prescribed methods and procedures, incumbents perform specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced landscape architect.
• Prepare plans for planting, irrigation, site plans, grading, and layout for parks and median projects.
• Review and approve minor site development plans submitted for development approval for conformance with plans, specifications, and ordinances.
• Grant application and administration.

PART-TIME RECREATION LEADER II/III
Recreation Division – Adaptive Program

Program hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from approximately 2:30 pm – 5:15 pm; additional evening and weekend hours as needed.

Level II - $16.97/hour     -   Level III - $18.04 – $21.24/hour

ABOUT THE POSITION
The City of Gilroy is recruiting for part-time Recreation Leaders II/III assigned to the Adaptive Program. The main goal of the City of Gilroy’s Recreation Division is to offer excellent recreation programs that provide community members with a wide range of opportunities to celebrate life and community through people, parks, programs, and special events which are delivered by a team of employees dedicated to offering quality recreational, social, and cultural services to all Gilroy residents. 
 
Under direct supervision of a Recreation Supervisor, the Recreation Leader II/III will assist, plan, organize, and lead the physical, recreational, and social activities of assigned recreation programs. Program area focus is Adaptive (Special Needs), but you might be asked to support another recreation area.

 When assigned to the Adaptive Program, the leader will have an opportunity to have hands-on experience working with a special needs population.  Disabilities of participants vary in range from non-communicative to diminished motor skills to severe autism.  The position will report to an experienced staff member.  As related experience is gained as noted in the job qualifications and requirements, and with the recommendation in the employee’s performance evaluation, Recreation Leaders can advance from Recreation Leader II to Recreation Leader III.  As the employee advances through the job series the employee will take on more responsibility and more challenging work assignments.
