The City of Santa Clara is recruiting for an Assistant Director of Community Development who will be responsible for organizing, managing, and providing direction for all functions and activities of the Community Development Department. This includes planning, permitting, building inspection, code compliance, housing, and special projects. The Assistant Director develops plans, goals, and objectives for the Department and advises the City Manager on matters pertaining to departmental functions.

The PTCO position in the DOT Parking Compliance Unit is responsible for:

• Patrolling assigned areas within the City limits and responding to complaints for illegally parked motor vehicles for the purpose of enforcing motor vehicle, roadway, garage and surface lot parking laws and regulations.
• Supports school safety and vehicle abatement programs
• Provides tow support for construction or street maintenance projects. 
• Provides vehicular and pedestrian traffic control during construction projects and special events within the City.
• Provide education and information about parking laws and regulations
• Participates in community outreach activities.
• Patrol coverage areas without a partner by walking or driving
• Work alternate work shifts, including grave and swing, weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call.

Senior Facilities Maintenance Specialist

Additional steps (Step F, Step G, and Step H) included in the salary range listed above are available to employees in this job classification after completion of five years of service (Step F), ten years of service (Step G), and 15 years of service (Step H), and one year at the prior step, and good performance evaluation.  Initial salary placement is typically at the entry point of the range unless the candidate has prior Senior Facilities Maintenance Specialist experience which may warrant initial placement at a higher step.

ABOUT THE POSITION
The City of Gilroy is recruiting to fill the position of Senior Facilities Maintenance Specialist in the Administrative Services & Human Resources/Risk Management Department, Facilities Division.

In this exciting opportunity, the Senior Facilities Maintenance Specialist will work under direct supervision of the Facilities & Fleet Superintendent and will be responsible for maintaining and constructing all City buildings, structures, and park facilities. This role calls for a dynamic team player with outstanding communication and customer service skills, a positive attitude in the face of challenges, and a commitment to going the extra mile. It requires someone who can work independently, collaborate effectively as part of a team, and has experience supervising or coordinating work and overseeing the performance of others.

The Senior Facilities Maintenance Specialist is distinguished from the Facilities Maintenance Specialist in that the Senior Specialist is expected to perform the more challenging and complex tasks and is expected to perform certain administrative functions in support of the Facilities Division. This role offers a blend of strategic oversight and hands-on work. You'll have the opportunity to lead initiatives that impact the community directly, such as energy efficiency upgrades, safety improvements, and facility renovations. These tasks include a range of semi-skilled construction and repair work involving the use of basic tools and trade-related equipment. Duties may involve repairing electrical equipment and wiring systems; fixing windows, doors, cabinets, and other building components; maintaining interior and exterior furniture such as tables, chairs, benches, and bookcases; performing general plumbing repairs and installations; and carrying out basic concrete and masonry work. 

Additionally, you must be able to diagnose mechanical problems and methodically troubleshoot any issues occurring with building systems, machines, and equipment. This role also serves as a trainer and provides leadership to the team on specific tasks and projects.

The City of Gilroy’s Facilities Division, part of the Administrative Services Department, is responsible for maintaining and preserving the city’s public buildings and essential infrastructure. The position will mainly develop, launch, and manage the City's new citywide microtransit service. This includes coordination with the microtransit/shuttle service provider, with the internal Communications team on branding and marketing, and the grant program administration agency.  The position will also respond to citizen concerns and comments about the service, perform outreach related to the service, manage the program budget, ensure grant program requirements are met, and look for grants for future program funding.

Under general direction, this position may also assist in current and long-range transportation planning for the City. The position may also manage and review land development traffic studies; perform level of service analyses for intersections and arterials using computer models like Synchro, and Vistro; apply for grant funds; and perform other duties as assigned.
 
The City is seeking a Transportation Planner with strong project management, analytical, technical and problem-solving skills, along with proficient oral and written communication skills. The successful candidate will have an excellent ability to effectively work with cross-functional teams; the ability to prioritize and deliver results in a constantly changing environment; and a proven ability to establish effective working relationships with customers, co-workers and vendors.

Acceptable Substitution: 

• Additional qualifying experience may be substituted on the basis of one year of experience equals 30 semester units of required education for a maximum of one year of required education.

License/Certifications: 

Possession of a valid California Class C driver’s license is required at time of appointment and for duration of employment.

Desirable Qualifications: 

• Computer proficiency in Microsoft Access and Power Point.

Other Requirements:  

• May be required to work shifts, weekends, and odd and unusual hours in the performance of duties and emergency situations.
